Verity giggled. The girl tucked a strand of short, purple flyaway hair behind her ear as she petted her beautiful, soft kitty Pokemon and shrugged at the boy. Jaden had commented on how his Pokemon had been hard to handle, as evidenced by it whacking him unexpectedly. Verity, however, calmly petted her new partner and commented, "I suppose sometimes. Nyaru and I have had no troubles getting along. He's such a precious Pokemon." The girl folded one leg over the other, trying her best to look lady-like and elegant in her short skirt, while still exposing some stomach and leg and looking attractive. The purple haired girl giggled again and Nyarumaa purred in response, batting a friendly paw toward the cute orange Torchic and his trainer. Though the bird resembled an easy prey and snack, its coloration warned of danger and the Catty Pokemon knew this particular brand of orange generally meant Fire types. Though she was hungry and the Pokemon looked delicious and didn't seem like a threat, she was not willing to stake her life on it. Verity stood up suddenly and Nyarumaa leaped toward the ground, circled his new trainer's legs, and curled his tail up her leg while standing calmly at her side. The girl leaned forward and politely introduced herself and her Pokemon. "I am Verity Weathers of Lavender Town and this is my Glameow, Nyarumaa. And you, you are Jaden according to Professor Elm," she continued, blushing a bit at the admittance that she had remembered the offhand comment, "Do you have a last name, Jaden?" The girl smiled coyly and her Glameow purred softly, perking his crescent-like ears and wiggling his whiskers.

"Reight," he responded, picking up almost the same tone that Verity had. He smiled politely and got up, holding the Torchic close to his chest. The warmth it gave off was strangely comfortable and something he could definitely get used to. It was decided that he would have to figure out a name later considering he was already in a conversation. "So, where are you headed next?"

Verity smirked again and pursed her lips before responding, "Well I'm pleased to meet you, Jaden Reight." Nyaru purred and nodded his head kindly in response. The girl pondered Jaden's question. Though she'd considered it many times, it was now that her decision would matter more than ever. She needed to make a decision about where to go right now and that would set her on her path. She paused and then smiled, reassured that she was making the correct decision. "Well, I want to head as far away from Kanto as possible," she laughed, though this spot of dark humor was completely serious and she would have shuddered at the thoughts that passed through her head at the very idea of heading back towards home if she weren't talking to this boy right now, and continued, "So I think I'll be heading west toward Cherrygrove Town first. How about you Jaden Reight? Any plans or are you going to wander aimlessly? I hear many trainers get lost doing that every year...if you wanted to accompany us, Nya-chan and I wouldn't mind the company at all..." she trailed off coyly and her Glameow, eyes glinting, slunk around her legs again and started for the door at a long, stretching pace, before turning back curiously as if asking whether the boy and his chicken Pokemon planned on following.

Jaden smiled again and followed behind her, unsure of what the next few days would entail. He had never really pictured going on his journey with someone else, let alone a pretty girl. It would be something new and a possibly great experience. The boy stopped when Torchic pecked his arm, causing him to drop it. The Pokemon was completely unhappy with idea of being babied or carried, especially because of the "manly" Pokemon it was to become. Jaden chuckled, happy to not have to carry him the hole way. He ran up beside Verity, Torchic close behind.
"So, Cherrygrove? Where do we have to go to get there. It'd be awesome to add a new Pokemon to the team soon."

"I have received your application to receive a starter pokemon and I am writing to inform you that you have been accepted. Please come to my lab in New Bark Town to collect your starting pokemon and the new pokedex I have developed. There is a new feature that will help you a lot as a pokemon trainer! You should also take on the pokemon gym challenge so you can get stronger with your partner pokemon to help you with the research. Good luck and see you soon" -Prof Elm Gale read the letter one more time, the last time before facing the man himself, he had finally entered New Bark Town. It had been a long journey from his home at Olivine City all the way to New Bark Town. Yeah he had shortened up a good portion of it by traveling on one of the cruisers leaving the post city, but since he was left at Cherrygrove he had to walk all the rest of the way and for somebody who had never left his home to even visit other cities, it was a whole lot of walking. The boy walked around the town for some time before he reached the lab, it was not hard to figure out which building it was, it was completely different from the rest of the houses there. Gale checked his attire, his white shirt and blue sweter were just alright, his black jeans, a little off-colored due to all the use he had given them, his shoes, they could be cleaner but all in all, he was presentable, something good as he was hoping to give the professor a good first impression. The boy cleared this throat and knocked on the door before stepping inside the lab "Prof. Elm! I'm here to recieve my pokemon!" the boy almost shouted in a happy and a bit of clumsy tone.

Verity smiled and bit her lip, exiting the lab and walking a short distance. She put her hand up above her eyes and cupped them to see the sun in the sky without possibly blinding herself. It was still very early, so she looked in the direction of the sun which was still technically rising. "Cherrygrove Town is eastward bound so if we're heading there," she smiled, "then we're going this direction." The girl pointed in the direction the sun had rose from and smiled. Nyaru purred and rubbed against her trainer contently before turning away and playing with Torchic for a bit. Verity grabbed Jaden's forearm and let her hand slip down into his hand, pulling at his palm, "C'mon Jaden! Let's go!" the girl smiled. She tossed her bag over her shoulder haphazardly and Nyarumaa darted ahead, Verity pulling the boy along toward the outer town limits. As they finally crossed the border of New Bark Town, Verity let go of Jaden's hand and blushed a bit, turning away. She quickly pointed out a sign just a bit further ahead, which announced that they had reached Route 29. The girl smiled and nodded toward the forested route, clearly excited and full of newfound energy. "Well then, what are we waiting for? Let's go find some Pokemon!" The girl ran off into the tall grasses, Nyaru following, and she hoped that Jaden and Torchic would be tagging along close behind them. Encounter?

Kaiser: "Hello there!" Professor Elm shouted from the back of the lab as he quickly closed the gap between them. He snatched the letter from the boy's hands and inspected it. "Ahh, you're Gale." He said, and shook the boy's hand replacing the letter. Before he could speak the Professor led him forward to the back of the lab. "Come with me and we'll give you a pokemon!" He was rather excitable for an older man. Elm led Gale through the automatic doors and into the room packed full of shelves that held many pokeballs. He motioned to the giant computer monitor in the center of the room. "Place your hand on the scanner, please."
MDF: A Staraptor flew above the girl as she ran into the grass. Verity was getting a bit too close to where her children were playing. Not too far off were 3 Starly chicks that were hopping about and singing happily. The first swoop was just a warning. The next one would be a Close Combat.

Gale chuckled, after his rather loud introduction when stepping into the lab, he worried he would take by surprise the professor or any of his assistants, probably even make somebody mad, but on the contrary, he found in Prof. Elm an equally energetic salute and that took all the pressure off Gale. The boy was surprised on how quick the old man was, he had said hi from the other side of the building and within seconds he was infront of him, more so, he snatched the letter off his hand and read it really quick. Probably because he was the one who wrote it but it didn't took him more than a couple seconds to find the boy's name in the letter and immediately addressed Gale by his name.
The boy followed the pokemon professor to the other side of the building, not that he had a chance not to do so, he was practically being pulled by him there. As soon as they arrived to the destication, Elm pointed at a large machine and asked Gale to place his hand there, the boy hesitated, what could that be? He had never seen one of those machines before but if Porf. Elm asked him to place his hand on it, it surely wouldn't hurt him. "like.. like this?" the boy asked still somewhat confused as he placed his right hand in the scanner which in turn made the machine stat with a set of wierd noises.

Arata reread the letter again, a happy if calm smile on his face. He felt excitement rising up as he looked forward to finally getting a Pokemon and his pokedex. It had been a uneventful trip from Violet City to Newbark Town, and he was feeling a bit keyed up from the excitement. He folded up the letter and tucked it back into his pocket, heading towards the lab. He ran a hand through his hair, calming what nerves he had about being about to meet his Pokemon. He glanced down at his clothes briefly, noticing that he was neat and tidy, and besides messing up his hair a bit was ready to meet Professor Elm.
Tugging open the door he walked forward, curious about what a Pokemon professor's lab looked like.
"Hello. My name's Arata Makimoto, and I'm here to get my Pokemon and Pokedex, please." He spoke calmly and politely, looking around the lab with open curiosity. He was quick to spot the professor, giving him a friendly look.

Kaiser: As the boy put his hand on the scanner, the loading screen displaying the pathetic flopping magikarp was displayed. After a few moments the wonderclaw descended from the ceiling and began to grab the pokeballs belonging to his choices. First was a Litwik, which slowly rotated and many arrows pointed to its features. The same thing happened with the next choice, a Goldeen, but this time it warned of its limited time on land but its power when in water. The final choice was a Whismur, which displayed how wide it opened its mouth as it used its sound attacks. All three choices lined up on the screen. Of course these were just 3D models, not the actual pokemon themselves.
Sammiya: One of Elm's assistants came to greet Arata after looking him up in the computer. "He is busy helping another trainer at the moment, but I will help you choose your pokedex." She said. She was an older woman with kind eyes. Perhaps Elm's wife? There was no time to ask about her personal life as she opened up the glass display case and beckoned to the many different colored pokedexes for Arata to choose from. "Pokedexes are very expensive pieces of equipment," she added, "So please don't take it for granted and register every pokemon you see!"

Arata smiled at the assistant, accepting the fact that Professor Elm was busy focusing on a different trainer, catching a look at the other male trainer before focusing his full attention onto the assistant. He did wonder but was shortly distracted by the Pokedexes being shown to him.
"Thank you. I'll be sure to do that, ma'am. Let's see..." Arata brightened slightly as he began looking over the different colors of Pokedexes, debating on which one appealed to him the most. He finally selected a light purplish one, figuring that it would go well with his interest in Psychic type Pokemon.

Sammiya: The woman smiled at the choice and then spoke after some thinking. "I know a lot about you new trainers. You always have this idea about how your journey is going to go and the kinds of pokemon you're going to catch, but you need to keep an open mind to things." She said. All of this seemed like it was coming from nowhere, but she had a lot of experience encountering trainers who have a love for one type of pokemon and then focus solely on them. There was nothing wrong with monotype trainers, but she knew even gym leaders had a separate team they used outside of their gyms. It's like the woman could tell that Arata was a huge fan of psychic pokemon just by him choosing the purple pokedex.
As she led him to the room with the giant monitor, she stopped in the doorway and watched Gale choose his pokemon. "He's going to choose Goldeen." She said and then walked away. Shortly after she turned around and smiled at the boy once again and the old woman tapped her temple before a hint of purple flashed through her eyes. "Intuition." She said. But she was sure Arata and her both knew it wasn't intuition.
((Gale chooses his pokemon and leaves))
"Please put your hand on the scanner." Professor Elm said, breaking Arata's train of thought and pointing to the freed up scanner.

She watched as the first two trainers made their way towards Cherrygrove, hidden among the tall grass. At last, she broke through it and made her way to New Bark Town, anxiously trying to see if any Pokémon was left unattended by the professor's many assistants. "Come on..." she whispered to herself, using the wall as cover while she wringed her hands, "There's got to be at least one of those Pokéballs I can take." She reassured herself that she'd at least get something much stronger- she turned her nose up at that Glameow-toting trainer she saw from earlier and that stupid boy with his goofy Torchic. It'll show them for snubbing her letters and saying she was 'unfit to raise Pokémon especially with warped morals like hers'. In the meantime, she kept her eyes peeled on wild Pokèmon in the area. Perhaps wild Pokémon were a lot more sturdy than some weak-in-the-knees lab born Pokèmon. After all, they knew what they were doing. Sasha tightened the windbreaker around herself, the shadow of the enormous building keeping her obscured in the darkness as she watched and waited for the right opportunity.

Dracoon: Nearby Sasha in front of the lab was a rather large fountain with a statue in the center. The statue was of a windmill that was actually functional and spun with the wind. There was a sign on the windmill that said the town's motto and the population. The water surrounding the mill used to be empty, but since it was that time of the year when trainers rushed to the town to get a pokemon, a few street vendors parked in front of the lab to sell pokemon to trainers who weren't lucky enough. The water was filled with many small remoraid, and in front of the fountain was a small awning set up where a man sat in a lawn chair with a cash box next to him and an Octillery on the other side of him. He was selling his Remoraid, but since they were fish pokemon it was a bit hard to find kids who were interested, so he was packing up to move to a location closer to the sea.
In the trees that surrounded the small park with the fountain were many berry flowers that smelled wonderfully, and then another plant that also had an enticing smell. The Weepinbell hung from a branch in one of the trees, mouth gaping to capture small pokemon and digest them. There was a flock of Pidove on the ground eating the crumbs of food that people dropped, and one Pidove must not have had the super luck ability because it was captured and eaten by the Weepinbell almost as soon as the Weepinbell woke up and opened its mouth.
As Sasha sat in the shadows, there was a dark presence near her. Something was in the shadows with her, and it was growing colder.

The shadow near her grew colder and colder. "Oh my god," she mused to herself, frightened at the ominous presence, "I sure hope it's not a ghost or anything!" She exclaimed the second part aloud, since talking about her fears usually diminished how scary it would be. The man's Octillery didn't look too shabby, and he was distracted with packing too. However, she wanted the ghost to show itself first- mischievous Pokémon fit her better than some stupid octopus that she couldn't guarantee being able to always have a body of water for. Weepinbell were pretty good on her terms, but ugh, could there be anything more disgusting that watching it eat? The girl snickered as the Pidoves got swallowed by the Weepinbell as soon as it inhaled, but she figured that it was going to be iffy if she actually had to catch them to feed her Pokémon. At last, she got up, searching the place around her. "I know you're out there, and I need a partner in crime," she stated to what seemed like an empty alley, "If you're interested in helping me, show yourself!"
