Arc grimaced when the fallen boy asked for a battle. She was a lover (), not a fighter. "Ah," she said trying to think of the right words to say, "look, I..." She stopped and looked at the kid. "Ah, look, fine." She obviously didn't want to battle, but if it'd get the kid to go away... "I'm doing you a favour, alright? When we're done here, let's go to a less crowded place, but for now..." She returned Honey and Pei Pei back to their Pokeballs. The crowd was thick, and she was starting to feel nervous about her Pokemon getting stolen.

Theo and Newt's strategy was a good one and though teleporting so quickly made it difficult for Emeric and Zander to control their Pokemon, the experienced Ranger partners were highly prepared for handling unexpected situations. Theo might have thought he was getting the upper hand in attacking the fluffy sheep-like Mareep from above but this tactic only angered her and she shouted loudly and her coat began to sizzle and spark as a warning. With a loud cracking noise, the Wool Pokemon flung the unwelcome rider from her back and snorted, hoping her Static ability had properly punished the Abra by paralyzing him for his nasty tactics. Chatot, meanwhile, had been hit by the Poison Sting and hit good and he shuddered for a moment before taking flight, nimbly chasing after the escaping, swinging bug. The parrot creature's beak began to glow as he dove in for a Peck, not at the Worm Pokemon itself but at his String Shot lifeline. The drop wasn't too far but it would hopefully buy enough time to land more damage if Chatot were successful in cutting the silky goo strands in time... Newt frowned at the situation. He attempted to take in every bit of information he could, analyzing every single bit of light that reached his eyes. He noticed the yellow flashing strands of Static that enveloped Theo, leaving him fully conscious but utterly paralyzed. They flaked off, leaving hope that it would wear away, but definitely not any time soon. The idea of him hurting his long-time friend over a roadside battle was utterly ridiculous. The boy was fully prepared to withdraw from the battle, allowing the two rangers to win, until the Abra was able to communicate with him. It was clear that while his body was shot, his mind was still fully functional. Shaking and with sparks flying, the Pokemon pulled his upper body up into a seated position and began slightly levitating. It was extremely stereotypical of his species, which he hated, but it would have to do considering he could not get himself around.
Then, he spotted Elliot. The poor worm was so close to being cut from his thin thread only barely hanging onto the tree as it was. The Chatot was in a full dive, there was no time to call the Wurmple or tell it to take defensive action. Instead, Newton looked to Theo for the proper action. "Teleport onto Chatot and Teleport out. I want it in a full dive... elsewhere," the boy commanded, pushing his glasses a bit farther up his nose. He pulled his scarf up and waited. Theo disappeared from his location and his limp body dropped onto the Chatot, quickly teleporting out again directly in front of the base of the same tree. It would have to hurt.
Elliot repelled the rest of the way down and made complete eye contact with the Mareep. It was clear Theo couldn't handle it, so he would most likely have to. His back spikes grew in size and began oozing a thick purple liquid. He was fully prepared to Poison Sting the sheep if it came anywhere near him.

Sammi: (Charmander is friendship caught so it's a successful capture.)
Kizzy: "Cosier," the Phantump stated coldly. It wasn't because Phantump was being deliberately unfriendly, it was simply the way ghosts acted. Besides, as the ghost of something once-human, it obviously spoke good English. "You too?" it continued, still in an unnerving monotone that would be especially grating to the impatient as it seemed patronizing.

Professor Rowan finally appeared from his secluded laboratory office. He held out his hands and smiled toward the crowded group of newcomers, greeting them all. The older gentleman smiled and waved again, seeming to simultaneously stare right at each and every person in the crowd he was addressing, including Avon and Arc. "Hello everyone. I know you have traveled far and wide, many of you crossing the entire region or even farther to come here. I want to wish you all good luck and have something special for you to aide you in your travels. If you visited earlier, you will notice that the items I give out do in fact change throughout the day and I will be making a few more random appearances later for anyone who wishes to wait around, though I really suggest getting started on your training instead...this old man really isn't all that interesting anyway!" he laughed, referring to himself, and paused as several research aides approached him with their arms full of boxes. All contained dozens of Pokeballs for the gathered trainers, labeled clearly with peelable labels on the tops of the Pokeballs. "These Pokeballs contain three different Pokemon and you can choose one to take you with on your travels and train as your own. The Pokemon contained inside are Pokemon I have studied for countless years, all native to the Sinnoh region (they were here even before the migratory efforts to help diversify the region's wildlife began), and they all come from three separate colonies in the neighboring routes to this town and they all eagerly agreed to be captured and distributed to new, loving trainers for the sole purpose of learning and growing stronger. These species all natively originated in areas far from here but have since moved colonies for various reasons such as construction and wildlife preservation of diversity and research purposes so they speak varying degrees of English due to their history of exposure to research aides assisting in their successful migration projects. So without further ado, please now make your choice and meet your new Pokemon - Chimchar, Piplup, or Turtwig!" The man briskly strode off back toward his lab and left the research aides at the mercy of hundreds of excitable young trainers rushing forward to demand their brand new Pokemon. --- The Chatot crashed to the ground hard and the Mareep cringed in fear from the poisonous spikes the Wurmple was threatening to harm her with. Emeric and Zander shared a glance and nodded, "Alright, alright, you win!" they cried in unison. Zander started, "We would battle more but being so far away from a Pokemon Center, it's really rather dangerous and depending on the nature of an injury, sometimes not even an Antidote or Potion is enough to rescue or heal your Pokemon so in a friendly roadside battle such at this one, it's best to exhibit and show off and do minor damage but as far as poisoning or anything, you've proven your point that even at odds of paralysis and imminent danger, you make a formidable foe." Emeric nodded and added, "We enjoyed the practice your battle gave us and we'll learn from our mistakes and get better. Maybe we'll meet again someday and battle to see how much stronger we've all become. I'd like that." Zander nodded and agreed, "Me too." Then the boys handed Newt five Paralyz Heals and five Potions. It was more than enough to heal his Pokemon's injuries for now (about one Paralyz Heal for Theo and one Potion split between Theo and Elliot would probably be necessary from the quick battle that had ensured) and have plenty left over for later. Then the generous boys bid farewell. The Pokemon Rangers set off toward Lake Verity now and soon disappeared from sight.

Arc dashed forwards as the Professor retreated back inside the lab. No disrespect to that kid, but she'd wanted to grab a Pokemon she liked. "Pei Pei, go ahead and-" She stopped mid-sentence and stopped walking. Where was Pei Pei? And where had Honey gone? Had they been stolen? She turned behind her to look for her Pokemon... and remembered that she had recalled her two Pokemon to their Pokeballs minutes earlier.
Feeling embarrassed about her forgetfulness, she turned back towards the aides. Most of the crowd had disappeared; having grabbed their Pokemon and left. There were still quite a number of Pokemon remaining in the box though, and Arc peered inside to see which ones remained. "Turtwig, Turtwig, Turtwig," She read, shuffling through the Pokeballs. Why were there so many Turtwigs left? It didn't really matter; she wanted one of those anyway. She just needed to find the right one... In the end, she decided on a Turwig Pokeball nestled at the bottom of the box with the label half-peeled already. 'Yeah, it's a good one...' Arc thought to herself, grabbing it and thanking the aide. Now all she needed to do was find that kid and battle him like she said she would, and then she'd be on her way.

Avon blinked in surprise at all the people around the lab. This wasn't what she expected today. The girl was grateful she returned her pokemon due to the rough people. Everyone was pushing and shoving. Before she knew it, the girl found herself in front of a group of people trading items. One of them had a treecko plushie, another had a blue tent and the other had somehow obtained tropic mail. The trainer frowned a bit before she realized that she probably had to insert herself in the trade. She frowned a bit more. Avon needed to have something better then these losers. Thinking back to all the things she got, a smile came to her lips as she got the perfect idea. She dug through her pocket for that one scale. Her finger tips brushed up against the heart scale. She pulled it out and quickly put it away in the other pocket. The heart scale was her good luck charm. There was no way she was giving that up. For the second time she dug into her pockets and pulled out the blue colored scale. "Oh yeah?" She asked unimpressed. "Well I have a prism scale. It is easily worth more then all of your stuff combined." Avon kept up the attitude of being unimpressed and uninterested by giving a small but magnificent flip of silver white hair. "So who wants it? And who is willing to give me more?" After she had said that, the professor steppe out finally. Her eyes widened at the mention of a new pokemon. Piplups were cute but so were the fire monkey. She shook her head and decided to think about it as she waited for the others to respond to her trade offer of the prism scale. Her lavender eyes glanced at the trainer mill about the poor aids. It would be better to wait a bit anyways.

The Chatot crashed to the ground hard and the Mareep cringed in fear from the poisonous spikes the Wurmple was threatening to harm her with. Emeric and Zander shared a glance and nodded, "Alright, alright, you win!" they cried in unison. Zander started, "We would battle more but being so far away from a Pokemon Center, it's really rather dangerous and depending on the nature of an injury, sometimes not even an Antidote or Potion is enough to rescue or heal your Pokemon so in a friendly roadside battle such at this one, it's best to exhibit and show off and do minor damage but as far as poisoning or anything, you've proven your point that even at odds of paralysis and imminent danger, you make a formidable foe." Maybe we'll meet again someday and battle to see how much stronger we've all become.
Newt listened carefully to what the boys were saying, not fully believing he had actually won his first trainer battle. He began opening his mouth when they agreed on him winning, but closed it soon after and just nodded a yes with a smile. Elliot ran back to him, excited about their victory. The trainer held his arms up in the air, backing away from the Wurmple until it withdrew its venomous spikes. Both chuckled, the spikes withdrew, and the Wurmple was picked up and carried over to the spot where Theo was resting, seemingly out cold. Newt poked him.
"Don't get your hopes up, I'm alive," he said sarcastically, raising his head. The rangers then brought him the Paralyz Heals and Potions, which he accepted graciously. Newt set Elliot on his shoulder and picked up Theo. It was a lot for the boy's small build, but it had to be done. There was no way he would leave his best friend paralyzed in a path while recovering. They beside a rather large rock with scattered weeds and grasses dotting the bare dirt. Various Pokemon tracks adorned the soil, giving rise to the thought that they could at any time be jumped by a band of the wild. The trainer sprayed Newt with a Paralyz Heal and split a Potion between his two Pokemon. It would take some time for the Paralyz Heal to work and ease the static out of the Abra, so it was decided that they would just take a nap.
Nearly an hour later they awoke. No new tracks and no new challengers. No trainers staring them in the face, waiting to beat down his Pokemon again after they had just battled. He rubbed his eyes, opening them a bit farther than before. Theo and Elliot were also awake, but instead of sitting on opposite sides as he expected, they were conversing. Theo was actually giving a bit of a smirk as the two talked. It was most likely battle chatter after recent events, but there was no telling what it truly was. The simple fact that Theo, who obviously did not play well with others, was beginning to get along with Elliot at least a little. Newt rose his head toward the direction the rangers left in, unsure of where else to head.
"Let's go that way. That's where those kids went," he said, causing the Pokemon to snack their heads toward him. They didn't even know he was awake and the kid was already ready to move. Elliot climbing into Newt's arms and Theo, no longer paralyzed, walked a bit ahead. As they got close to the lake, the amount of Pokemon tracks began to grow. It was only a matter of time before something showed up.

Spesh A lone Meowth wandered across the path of Newt and his Pokèmon. It was missing the iconic coin on its head, seeming to look for anything shiny to substitute it. Due to how invested it was in its search, it did not even notice the human and his Pokèmon or bothered to see them as a threat. "I swear I saw something somewhere..." it murmured in scratchy, heavily-accented English, digging around the soft soil to see if there was any buried shiny objects by other Pokèmon.

SpeshA lone Meowth wandered across the path of Newt and his Pokèmon. Female Meowth, level 8 Newt stopped dead in his tracks, unaware of what had just come upon him. The Pokemon was searching, clearly desperate for whatever it needed. Theo stepped forward, instinctively protecting his trainer. Elliot followed suit, hoping to meet the low standards that he had set. The boy whipped out his Pokedex, and within a matter of moments had an entry.
Meowth, the Scratch Cat Pokemon Meowth is a small, feline Pokémon with cream-colored fur that turns brown at the tips of its hind paws and tail. Its ovoid head features four prominent whiskers, wide eyes with slit pupils, two pointed teeth in the upper jaw, and a gold oval coin embedded in its forehead. Its ears are black with brown interiors, and are flanked with an additional pair of long whiskers. Meowth is a quadruped with the ability to walk on its hind legs; while the games always depict Meowth on two legs, the anime states that Meowth normally walks on all fours. It can freely manipulate its claws, retracting them when it wants to move silently. The tip of its tail curls tightly.
Meowth is attracted to round and shiny objects, and has the unique ability to produce coins using Pay Day. It is known to wander about city streets and pick up anything that that sparkles, including loose change. Upon finding a sparkling object, its eyes will glitter and the coin on its forehead will shine brightly. Meowth is a playful Pokémon with the capacity for human-like intelligence, with at least one member of the species teaching itself how to speak. Meowth tends to live in urban areas.
The picture given of what he now knew to be a Meowth did not quite fit the image that he was given. It was supposed to have some sort of coin on its forehead, but it was missing. That had to be what it was searching for. Theo knew this far before his trainer, fully aware of what it needed. It spoke in his language, obviously realizing that this Pokemon was not a great speaker of English.
"Are you looking for your coin?" he asked, stepping farther forward, "Or anything else shiny, for that matter. It won't be the same. You can't just stick any old object on your forehead. We would be happy to help you find it if you can remember when you last saw it."

Spesh "Rrowr!" The Meowth jumped when she was addressed, fur bristling. "I-I'm...dropped it...someone pried it off to sell..." The Meowth trailed off in her native tongue, rubbing the raw patch on her head, "Need back." The Meowth noticed the boy's Pokèmon and felt that they couldn't quite help her in her quest. She looked around again, beginning to wander away from them and digging into the bin. She dragged out a Coin Case, which seemed to be abandoned by a gambler that wanted to quit. Picking out the coins inside, she began to compare them on the shiny surface of the trashcan.

The boy appeared finally from the crowd, running up to Arc with a Turtwig held tightly in his arms. "I got a Turtwig, how about you?" He looked down at the Pokeball in her hands and squinted, reading the label, "Oh you too? Well, this is Jacobean and he and I will be the best of friends! Now about that battle, I was going to ask to battle you with my Seedot but now I'm eager to test out this new guy. How's about you let out your Turtwig and meet 'im and then we can have a friendly battle with our brand new additions, Turtwig v Turtwig, eh?" The boy spoke quickly and his eyes looked fiery and glazed over as he thought about it and stepped back, getting ready to battle. Of course, witnessing two trainers battle even in the middle of the street wasn't a particularly unusual event and it seemed that Arc didn't have a choice in changing the venue once the boy had made up his mind to fight here and now. "Oh and I forgot to mention but I'm Chandler by the way!" Jacobean ran forward to the middle of the field and readied himself for a battle, smiling brightly. --- As Harry and his Pokemon continued to trek along their path, a Pokemon was peering through the foliage and leering at the quartet of individuals, a strange mix by any standards. The boy and his Sigilyph, Buneary, and baby Kabuto were like a delicious assorted box of donuts, the kind humans sometimes threw away because they got "stale". Either way, they still tasted good enough. At the thought of his favorite delicious treat, the grass type Pokemon licked his lips and smirked but he continued to keep a watchful eye on the individuals walking through his homeland. He swung from vine to vine and stayed aloft in the treetops. After a little bit, he landed on a nearby branch just ahead of Harry and his friends and a twig broke, making a loud snapping noise and falling to the grassy forest floor below. The green lizard cursed under his breath in his native Pokemon language and watched silently, trying not to make any other noises and stay hidden. Treecko, level 19, male --- Neina gasped, her eyes growing wide and glazed, she felt suddenly faint. Ryan was doing a good job of holding Chingling in place but now the Sandile was running at him too and the bell-like foe was not being fazed entirely by its Wrapped status, it was still struggling to get free. With a loud shout, Cole's Chingling was doing his best to startle Ryan into releasing him and now his Sandile was going to Bite her Ekans as well to make sure the Psychic type would be freed. Cayden shouted and his tail began to glow a whitish silvery hue as he ran forward and dive tackled into the Sandile before she could reach Ryan. He then attempted to launch several punching Pounds on the Desert Croc, his Iron Tail still glowing and become stronger and stronger by the second, hardening and becoming an even more powerful tool the longer he allowed it to charge up. Ryan meanwhile was closing his eyes tightly, hissing in pain, looking as if he might be biting his bottom lip. He was doing his very best to hold onto the struggling Bell Pokemon in his coiled state. His eyes glowed red again in another attempt at a Leer technique, trying to buy time and bring down the fighting spirit of the persistent Bell Pokemon. He was hoping it wouldn't come to having to poison the foe but would if the situation required it for he was entirely committed to keeping ahold of his Wrapped victim.

Harry was oblivious to being watched as he walked through the forest, before a sudden loud crack stopped him in his tracks. The boy hummed, unsure what was happening since the Treecko was moving far too fast. Schutzen had seen a green blur, though, and was none too pleased about it. We have no need to hurt you, and it'll be better if you showed yourself. We're headed to get food, if that's what you want. suggested the Sigilyph telepathically, hoping to have the blur come down to address them instead of hiding. It was infinitely better to engage random Pokèmon than having to battle them- which fairly obviously was not what Harry wanted. Kabuto giggled loudly, letting out a childish hum as his front claws wiggled from side to side. He was obviously enjoying being carried. Kate swept her leg back, peering upwards. "It's a Treecko but I'm not sure..." she stated in her usual mix of the languages, uncertain whether it was friend or foe. ---- The Chingling and Sandile suddenly stopped and returned to their Trainer's side. Cole had called them off, walking up to the girl with an extended hand. "You did really well, for a first battle," he complimented, pulling out an assortment of 6-hour berries and giving her the pouch, "I really hope we can battle again when you get stronger. I heard Professor Rowan is giving out items to the new trainers, so I'm hoping to see if I can get something from him. It's rare that he does this, anyway." Recalling his Pokèmon, he slung his bag over his shoulder and winked, before returning to the Pokèmon Center to heal his Pokèmon and head over to the Lab.
((He gave Neina 3 of each 6-hour berry.))

Neina brightened, very excited to have won her very first League-regulation Pokemon battle against a fellow trainer or at least she had done so well she hadn't withdrawn. Either way, it felt like a win, regardless of Pokemon not fainting. Besides, it was for the best that neither team had caused each other faint because fainting meant the Pokemon could not be recalled without a very special and rare Revive. Neina congratulated her Pokemon on their win and their ability to learn to work together for the first time. She would need to train them much better for later but for now she was eager to heal up her friends and then head on over to Professor Rowan's lab. She knew very well of Rowan's antics and stunts with handing out incredibly rare and special items to traveling trainers. Other Professors in other regions were said to be more studious and involved in their work, without much time to be bothered by new trainers looking for advice, but Rowan despite his looks was something of a rockstar in the Sinnoh region and he just loved to host events almost monthly, taking an entire day to talk to trainers and congratulate them on their journeys and wish them luck and give them free things to help them on their journeys. Neina returned her Pokemon, eagerly healed Cayden and Ryan at the Pokemon Center counter in the front of the training center, and then headed over to the Pokemon Professor's lab. Though the event seemed to have just ended, already more and more trainers were gathering around, excitedly shouting and conversing about the Professor's event and wondering what he might give out next and bartering their goods. It was all incredibly exciting! Trade Event? --- The wild Treecko sniffed and heard a voice ringing in his ears. He tried to clamp them but it seemed that he was wrong, this voice was not vocal, it was in his head. The psychic telepathic relay took a bit of getting used to and the unaccustomed Treecko was so busy holding his head, feeling terribly invaded by Schultzen, that he actually fell out of the tree, rustling many branches on the way down. He quickly moved his legs and and arms down in front of him, bracing and landing nimbly on all four limbs before standing up straight and eying all the Pokemon and the human standing before him, sizing them all up. "Uhmmm, hi?" he said tentatively. "I didn't mean to fall but I guess here I am now, eh? I'm Scout, by the way. Please don't get into my head again without my permission; it's just so...foreign. Who are all of you. And you mentioned food?" Scout's voice seemed hopeful in his last question and his eyes glinted as he rubbed his belly and smiled.

Neina was immediately swamped by Trainers, eager to trade things with her. A boy came up to her, heaving a parcel in his hands. The parcel was marked 'To Professor Samuel Oak' and if brought to the esteemed professor, perhaps a reward could be given. "Hey, uh, could you please get this parcel off my hands," moaned the boy, "I made a bad call and it's so heavy..." He was shoved aside by a girl who held up a glistening Red Scale, waving it in front of the girl. "Ignore him, he's just stupid- my Red Scale is widely coveted among collectors, and I'm sure if you exchange it with a Pokémaniac, they'd teach you good moves or even give you a Pokèmon as a reward!" she persuaded loudly. At last, a bespectacled boy showed up, holding what appeared to be a odd-shaped rock. "This is a Meteorite," he intoned, almost in a creepy voice, "Every scientist wants to study it. It's fairly obvious whose deal is the best." ----- Schutzen jumped when the Treecko fell out, and introduced himself in crisp English. Sorry. he projected, before Harry began speaking. "Hello," he pointed to himself, "Harry. Friends. Schutzen, Kate, Kabuto." Schutzen nodded once when his name was mentioned, and Kate relaxed when she noticed the Treecko meant no harm. "Yes, we're getting food. I think they have Berries and pastries like bread and donuts there!" enthused the Buneary, excited at the thought of food. Kabuto only giggled and blinked, not able to speak yet because of how young he was. Harry smiled, nodding to acknowledge Kate's words. "Short walk away," he stated at last, "Nice meet, Scout." He extended a hand to shake the Treecko's.

"Alright," Arc agreed, dropping her Pokeball and releasing her Turtwig from its Pokeball. It shook and turned around to face its trainer, "What the...? Ah! You're my trainer?" It spoke in a mixture of Pokespeak and English, mainly speaking to itself in its native tongue. It looked Arc up and down several times before clicking its tongue, "I suppose you're okay. My name's Sprout. Treat me well, trainer."
For some reason, this Pokemon was really starting to tick Arc off. "My name is Arc," she told it slowly and calmly, "So don't call me 'trainer'."
The Turtwig turned around, "Whatever, whatever." It mumbled.
"So," Arc said, talking back to Chandler, "Now that we've got that settled, I'll be using him agai-."
"Wait!" Sprout said suddenly, turning back towards Arc. It looked angry, "I'm not a 'him'! I'm a 'her'! Can't you tell how lovely I am!?"
Arc was taken aback a bit, "Sorry." She said. Sprout turned back around again with a huff. "So," Arc started again, "Now that we've got that settled, I'll be using her against your Turtwig, right? You probably heard earlier, but I'm Arc. Let's go." She waited for Chandler to make his move.
