Chandler smiled as Arc let him make the first move. Arc's meeting with Sprout had given him ample time to scan his own new Turtwig for his level and legal movepool. Now familiar with the attacks his Pokemon could utilize, Chandler was feeling even more confident than ever. "Jacodean," the boy started, raking a hand through his own hair and ruffling it to seem cool, "let's start this out easy with a Tackle, kay kay?" Jacobean thought his trainer seemed to talk in a weird, slangy manner, much different than the scientists and Rangers and researchers he had met before, but that did not matter for now. Grunting and digging a stubby yellow colored foot into the sand and narrowing his eyes, Jacobean the Turtwig lowered his head and began to run forward quickly toward Sprout. The tiny Turtwig was determined but much smaller than his opponent and though it might have looked comical to witness the smaller foe charging toward the larger female, it didn't discourage Jacobean even the tiniest bit. --- The Treecko felt even more flustered after having conversed with the group. At least...he thought he had just conversed with them but due to the incredibly abnormal way they all communicate, Scout was left feeling even more perplexed. The Kabuto clearly could not talk but its blinking eyes and loud giggling were kind of distracting, the Buneary spoke at a mile a minute in a jumbled mesh of code-switching English and Pokespeak at irregular intervals with seemingly no recognizable pattern, the Sigilyph had used telepathy again (even though it was to apologize for using telepathy it was still disconcerting and foreign), and the human boy clearly could not piece together an entire coherent sentence. Either way, they all seemed to make sense to each other and Scout recognized that they were all trying to be nice. And they had mentioned food again. The Buneary had even mentioned donuts, his very favorite delicious treat. He nodded and responded, "I will gladly follow along with your group for now, if you don't mind too much. And I would love something to eat whenever we stop, Harry." The Treecko peered upward and accepted Harry's handshake lightly. He would tag along with the boy and his Pokemon friends for now. Making friends was never a terrible thing to do, especially if they were nice and offered food but he was still slightly suspicious. He would take a bit of time to trust the boy or his friends completely. --- Neina pondered her trade options for a quick moment. The parcel was clealry not hers or the seller's and likely was therefore stolen property and the supposedly interesting rock looked dull and the creepy voice of the boy selling it made her shudder. The Red Scale, however, was pretty and tempting. The pink haired girl's face lit up joyously as she stared at it for a few seconds, seeing her own elated reflection staring back at her plainly. She decided in that moment that she wanted the scale, which was beautiful. She knew it would not only be a pretty trinket temporarily, it would also serve an important purpose in the future with bartering with a Pokemaniac like the other girl had mentioned. Reaching into her bag and pulling out the expensive item she'd bought from the market back in Twinleaf, Neina offered her Relic Statue in exchange for the Red Scale. Minutes later, she was admiring the pretty, gleaming object before placing it carefully into her bag and looking around, waiting and wondering when the Professor might be available to appear again next. She hoped it would be soon, she was growing impatient... Item?

Harry nodded with a wide smile, happy to make a new friend. He made his way to the Pokémon Center, still limping slightly on his left leg. It ached a bit from when he had fled from the trainer, afraid to have his Pokémon hurt by accident. After letting his Pokémon get patched up by Nurse Joy, they went off to get some food. There was a small pastry buffet for the new Trainers, with things like bread, biscuits and donuts neatly set out in several baskets. Harry deliberated taking one for the rest, but Nurse Joy reassured him that both Pokémon and humans could consume the food with no ill side effects. He passed out some sugary donuts amongst his Pokémon, holding out a donut for Schutzen. The Sigilyph seemed strange consuming the donut without a mouth, the donut disappearing in a few bites. Kate tore into her donut aggressively, enjoying the sweet taste of the pastry. To the Treecko, Harry gave a donut too before removing a Berry from his bag.
Harry bent down painstakingly, his lame leg aching as he labored. Pinching a small bit of a berry, he fed his new Kabuto carefully to prevent the baby from choking. The Kabuto tried the piece, clicking his front claws to signal he wanted more. Harry smiled, continuing to feed his Kabuto as much as his aching leg would allow him to bend down. At last, he settled on a name. "Carapace," he stated, rubbing the hard shell of the Kabuto to allow him to get accustomed to his new name. ----- A Hyper Potion seemed to lie on the grass not far from Neina. There was a famous Trainer that had passed by just now, and it was no surprise that his screaming fans may or may not have torn a hole in his satchel for something of value to keep.

Scout munched happily on the donut and interacted pleasantly with Harry and his teammates. He was particularly interested in how kindhearted and caring the human boy seemed as he took great care to gently feed and nurture his baby Pokemon, newly named Carapace. The Treecko smiled at Kate, who looked silly eating so quickly, and shuddered at Schultzen, who still creeped him out a bit for his psychic powers and now even more for his strange and unexplained eating habits. The Grass type Pokemon stood up and reached high toward the table, grabbing a few more sugary donuts. He handed one to Kate and one to Schultzen (though he still refused to look at the Sigilyph for his nauseating and perplexing mouthless consumption) and then greedily smiled and rubbed his stomach on the red part that resembled a pouch. He stuffed several more donuts into his mouth quickly, very swift as an eater much like everything else he and the rest of his species did, and then swallowed them hard, turning to Kate and talking at a rapid-fire pace, questioning and commenting and everything all without taking a single breath or pausing to let the poor code-switching Buneary catch up. "So how long have you been with Harry and all of them? He seems like a nice boy, I suppose, for a human. I've met humans before now but they were always Rangers and researchers and the like, all concernced with preserving our species' relocated habitat and trying to teach us to speak English to make us more valuable to wandering trainers and things like that. Even though they were nice, they hardly interacted with us and never in a personal or especially kind manner. Harry was the first to do so, I guess. Hmmm. Well the donuts sure were delicious. I love donuts, they're my favorite. Tell me about yourself."

Kate shoved the donut into her mouth, putting them into her cheek pouch so that she can get to the donut later. "I've been with Harry for a while. He made friends with me, and he and Schutzen aren't bad people. I saw him refuse to catch a Bidoof because the Bidoof was with his mother," the Buneary commented in her language, "Harry was the first human that didn't attack me- all the other humans on the route really wanted to fight, and I really hated that. Schutzen isn't a bad Pokémon either, when you get to know him. The way he talks and interacts is just different- I guess that's why Harry and Schutzen fit each other so." She chewed the donut in her pouch, retrieving it before swallowing the contents whole, "I'm a Buneary. My brother and I used to live on Route 203, and the last time I saw my brother he was fighting another Trainer who won't give up on trying to catch him. He's very different from me, really feisty and never yielding to anybody. He always says humans are bad and they'll work us to the bone, but Harry hasn't done that." Kate kneaded one of her ears, while Schutzen levitated the donut close to himself and ate it. The Sigilyph was feeling the effect of a sugar rush, levitating a biscuit instead of a donut this time for balance.

"Hmmm, it's an interesting tale," Scout responded, nodding seriously, and responding in the native Pokemon language for the first time since meeting the group. He quickly realized this, however, and switched primarily back over to English. The Pokemon Rangers had always told him and the others of his tribe that English was a far superior language to his own and it would be more valuable to learn it and use it with trainers and others than Pokespeak. The researchers and scientists had disagreed on this point, saying his own language was fascinating and pointing out the benefits of bilingualism in individuals...but then they had gone right on and continued teaching the Treeckos how to speak English anyway so Scout had never paid much attention to their disagreement and had worked long and hard to achieve a level of fluency in his English so that he could communicate effectly with humans. "Those donuts were yummy," he noted with a smile. "I really appreciated the food and the hospitality, it was very kind of you. But uhmmm...I think I've had too much already and if there's really nothing else left to do...I wish you all the best of luck. You all seem like truly nice people and I know you will go out into the world to do great things. But uhmmm, I must be going now. Lots of Apricorns to kick around and trainers to sneak up on and garbage cans to raid and Bidoof to beat up and other important stuff, you know? So uhmmm...I must be going now...goodbye," the Treecko finished and whirled around, striding off slowly, much slower than he'd done anything else before, heading for the automatic sliding glass doors of the Pokemon Center that would take him out into the town and back toward the clearing of the relocation center he lived at.

"Wait!" Harry suddenly ventured at the Treecko, getting up but falling over in the process with a loud thump, "Join...us. Join the team?" he offered at last, getting up and dusting himself. Harry still hugged Carapace close to himself, looking at the Treecko with a smile. Kate shoved the last bit of her donut into her mouth, hopping over to Scout's side. "Trust me, it'll be fun!" she persuaded, tugging at the lizard Pokémon's arm. The Buneary was being friendly to pay it forward from what Schutzen had convinced her before- not all humans were bad and there was always something deeper to be desired. Harry waited, trusting that Kate would be able to do a good job convincing the Treecko than he did. He never liked how he wasn't as good as he would liked with speaking, and his limp didn't add any brownie points. In a sense, he'd understand if Scout decided not to join them.

The opponent Turtwig charged forwards with a tackle attack. Arc was surprised how fast it was, but she thought that it was probably due to how small it was. Sprout, the larger Turtwig, would probably be slower. Which meant that playing offensively would probably be less effective. Better to guard and counter, then. Every Starter Pokemon knew at least two moves at level 5, didn't they? One was an attack (Turtwig's was Tackle, Arc guessed from the move that Chandler's was using). So what was that second move...? Ah, right. "Use Withdraw." Arc said cooly, and at the last second. Just before Jacobean could charge into Sprout, the larger Turtwig withdrew into her shell, minimising oncoming physical damage. Hopefully the smaller Turtwig would hurt himself from crashing into Sprout's sturdy shell.

Avon looked over the trade offers and then down at the scale. She slides the treasure back into her pocket. None of the offers were really tempting to her and the prism scale seemed to big of an item to trade with these small offers. "Well as tempting your offers are, I'm going to have to pass. This prism scale is too valuable to me." With another magnificent hair flip, she walks toward one of the professor's many aids. The line had died down a bit. The trainer had made her decision on which pokemon to pick. It was easy to knock Tirtwig off of the list, so it was a competition between a Chimchar and a Piplup. Naturally, she pick Piplup because it was just so adorable and cute. Once she was in front of an aid, she placed her hands on her hips sassily. "Hello I'm here to pick up a Piplup." She said with a huge grin on her face. With another new member on the way, Avon was super excited to go on this journey.

Spesh"Rrowr!" The Meowth jumped when she was addressed, fur bristling. "I-I'm... dropped it...someone pried it off to sell..." The Meowth trailed off in her native tongue, rubbing the raw patch on her head, "Need back." The Meowth noticed the boy's Pokèmon and felt that they couldn't quite help her in her quest. She looked around again, beginning to wander away from them and digging into the bin. She dragged out a Coin Case, which seemed to be abandoned by a gambler that wanted to quit. Picking out the coins inside, she began to compare them on the shiny surface of the trashcan. Newt was upset at the obvious language barrier between the two. He was unable to help a Pokemon which clearly needed assistance in something that was vital to its mental well being. Theo looked to Newt this time, unsure of what to do next. The Abra was sure his trainer was able to understand the broken English that this Meowth spoke, but wasn't quite sure if he would know how to respond with simpler words so that it may understand him. This time Elliot wobbled forward, feeling he could communicate with a forest dweller like him much better than the city Pokemon that Theo was.
"We can help you find it if you want. Do you want us to help?" he asked, hoping not to force himself upon them but to definitely suggest that they would not mind taking part.

Kizzy: "Cosier," the Phantump stated coldly. It wasn't because Phantump was being deliberately unfriendly, it was simply the way ghosts acted. Besides, as the ghost of something once-human, it obviously spoke good English. "You too?" it continued, still in an unnerving monotone that would be especially grating to the impatient as it seemed patronizing. Nip quipped quickly, "Yeah! We were forced out of our town for some mysyerious reason, but..." He paused, looking up at Quez. "What is it...?" She asked, trying to read her pokemon's expression. The bat turned back to the Phantump, "Hey! You should come with us!" He exclaimed, "Us Kalosians stick together!" He grinned, placing a paw around the others shoulder and pulling him into some sort of brotherly hug thing.

Scout stopped suddenly and looked back at Harry, tumbling over. The Treecko lunged forward, concerned, but stopped himself. Why should he care? And yet...he clearly did. Kate came over to try and convince him but it was in that moment that Scout firmly knew his decision already. The Treecko walked back over to the boy and patted him on the elbow kindly, wanting to help him up but knowing the human lad was far to heavy and awkwardly large for a tiny thing like a Treecko to support or carry. Instead he smiled and quickly responded, "Yes, Harry. Yes, I will join you and you team. It would be my absolute pleasure." The Treecko smiled wide, his eyes crinkling. He had finally found a home. Friendship Capture? Success! (27/70%) --- Sure enough, the small and nimble Jacobean was moving so quick he could not stop. He tried but to no avail as he continued to skid forward and crashed into the packed safety of Sprout's shell. He knocked into her, sending a bit of dirt flying and fell down clumsily. But he would not be deterred. Still feeling confident (though admittedly slightly less so at this point), Chandler ordered a second attack, "Jacobean, use Razor Leaf now!" The Grass type nodded and smirked, planting a firm stance and whipping his head quickly, causing the twig on the top of his head to shoot glowing green leaves toward the opponent.

The Phantump blinked slowly. "Now...?" He seemed hesitant, for once emotion leaping inside his voice, "It's a bit abrupt...Could I ask you two to-to do me a favor?" With some hopefulness in his voice, the Phantump looked up to the trainer and her Pokémon. "If you'd have me...I need to say goodbye to the Trevanent that took care of me. You need to come with me, that way they won't attack you. The Trevanent that take care of us and the other ghosts are very powerful- they're known to be the protectors of the forest, and they usually don't take too well to trespassers." The Phantump did a circle with his tiny paws, turning to Nip. "My name...is Moignon. I believe it was the name I had before I died. What about yours?" The Phantump hovered, waiting for a response calmly. --- The Meowth blinked once, and then twice. A human was offering to help her? She let go of the battered Coin Case, staring at the Trainer for a few moments. "...yes," she mewed at last, seemingly in a lot more distress than she should've been, "Please do...I'm scared..." Poor Meowth seemed as though she was due to burst into helpless tears over what happened. She looked around furtively, still desperately trying to compare the coin that'll fit her head and seemingly more and more upset when each search failed. --- The Treecko accepted the offer, and Harry smiled widely. With a single tap from Harry's Fast Ball, he caught Scout willingly and then withdrew all his Pokémon- even Carapace. The boy seemed at ease with himself for some reason, taking one last donut from the basket with his grubby hands before leaving the Center with his new Pokémon in tow. Everyone seemed so eager to see Professor Rowan again- he looked around furtively in amazement as trainers jostled past him to get trades done. He soon saw a girl with what appeared to be a Miccino and Ekans, looking around in confusion from receiving her traded Red Scale.

Newt drew closer, realizing how little harm this cat meant and how little he had to lose if he finally spoke up. He knelt down next to it, holding both arms in an attempt to calm it down. Theo jumped forward, nearly ready to stop him, but instead allowed the boy to deal with himself. It was the first time in a while he had actually tried and it was worth letting him have a go. Newt released one of the arms and pulled out his Pokedex, scanning the Meowth and doing a bit of research involving the coin, "You know, this thing says that once you reach 'level 30', you will be legally allowed to use to move Pay Day, which regenerates your coin and even produces extras! I would love to take you with us and train you a bit until you learn that move, but you'll have to trust me."
Elliot and Theo, both shocked by how much Newton had spoken, rushed forward and to his aid, translating what he had said to the Meowth.

Neina looked down and noticed a shiny object. The sun's reflection off the thing made her momentarily unable to discern what it could be. She picked up the item and examined it curiously. It was obviously quite new given the state of its plastic container and the fullness of the liquid inside. Pocketing the Hyper Potion without a second thought Neina looked around. Now she wondered if she should feel bad about taking the item. Well, no one would have claimed it anyway and she didn't think if she asked everyone who it belonged to that she would get an honest answer anyway, given that the item in question, though not especially rare, was worth a considerable amount of money. Shrugging, Neina carried on waiting as usual. Suddenly, she spotted a tall lanky teenage kid. His brown hair covered his eyebrows but did not fall into his particularly small eyes. He looked really pale and Neina was concerned for a moment that he might be sickly. However, she did notice that a large Pokemon party was following around him and she wondered if the limping boy were a strong trainer. His team certainly looked formidable. Neina scanned the Pokemon for information on her Pokedex, unsure about two of the species. She recognized the Treecko and the Buneary, common Pokemon in the area (the former due to relocation efforts over the past few decades and the latter because it was quite plentiful and native to the Sinnoh region) but she learned that his other Pokemon were a Sigilyph and a Kabuto, both quite rare. Neina was curious and a bit bored from waiting so long that she decided to approach the boy, pushing through the crowd a bit until she reached the tall kid that stuck out so well in the raging sea of the crowd. "Hello," she greeted happily, her hair bobbing as she felt another push from a heavyset girl, who looked apologetic and probably had in turn been pushed herself. Neina righted herself and tried to hold a firm footing in the crowd without being pushed away. "My name's Neina, what's yours?"

Michi watched closely as the Charmander was caught successfully, a bit amazed at catching a pokemon so soon, particularly a Charmander. She picked up the ball and tucked it away, flashing a bright smile at Meyrin.
"We're doing good, Meyrin~ We already have a new friend~ I'll let him rest awhile, though... And you need a break, too, don't you? " Michi was bright and cheerful, glad that the charmander had joined up with her despite nearly getting killed. Meyrin nodded, glad even if she was a bit surprised that he would be willing to join up with them after the near death experience.
"We do~ But, a rest in my ball would be pretty nice... Will you be okay by yourself?" Meyrin looked at Michi with concern, hoping that Michi wouldn't get in over her head.
"I'll be fine~ You need to rest up and replenish your slime, anyway."[/color] Michi returned Meyrin to her ball, the goomy sighing softly as she was sucked in. Michi tucked the ball tenderly away before heading out, debating on going to check out Lake Verity or just heading straight for Sandgem. She wandered towards the route, figuring she'd figure it out later. She caught a glimpse of something in the grass, approaching it curiously.
Item, please?
