With the attack having failed, Yumi once again showed visible disappointment on her face. 'I should have opened with ember', she said to herself.
"Umm...Yumi...I think we should battle together. If we dont work together, we might not win." the other boy said amonst the battle noise.
"What? We'll be fine by ourselves. Dont you have confidence in your strength?!" She couldnt believe what she was hearing. Could Sai not handle a single pokmon battle by himself? Perhaps she had chosen the wrong traveling partner. He didnt even try to see if this was a battle he could handle himself. Yet another dissapointment."I'll be fine. You just finish that sandshrew!" As she finished her sentence, Syrus called out his own attack. It was a growl attack, one that could reach both pokemon. Was that his way of asking her to work together? Whatever. She could handle the battle herself. "Torque, ember it up!" Yumi shouted. Her torkoal fired off a flurry of tiny flames that struck the ground in rapid succession, making its way to the two pokemon.

Dracoon "A little dissapointin' to see, Little Miss. Can't counter?" THe man said with a more confident tone now. He could see both the trainer and her pokemon shielding their eyes to the sunny day move. This was a pretty reliable strategy, after all. He did have a bit of trouble with this strategy against a recent zubat using trainer, but he was lucky that this girl did not have the happy coincidence of having a blind pokemon. His smile grew wider at the incoming attack. "Do you see how this can strategy can win? Haha!" Starly dove down in a sharp dive, allowing gravity to assist it in its descent. (not sure what the different type of low kick looks like, so I guess go ahead and control the starly for this one interaction) Manta + Yuki Sneasel jumped out of the way, of the ember attacks and the incoming stones, leaving the sandshrew to curl into a ball and adamantly absorb the attacks. The two showed great teamwork. Sandshrew uncurled and scoffed at teh attacks as if to suggest that they were weak. While Sneasel was fast and could dodge attacks, sandhrew was tough and could take multiple attacks without having to move. Sneasel ran up to the torkoal, swinging its sharp claws rapidly. Sandshrew retaliated a bit slower with a poison sting attack, firing tiny purple needles towards the ralts, while sitting in the same spot. "Ugh...Grace, Confusion!" Sai knew how to handle something like this, even if he couldnt get help from his partner. Grace's eyes glowed brightly, stopping the poison sting attack. "You arent the only one that can stop a strike". GRace didnt really have a problem with these needles, seeing how they were pretty light in terms of weight and didnt take too much concentration to keep it up. "Grace, reverse 'em!" With a simple glance, Grace changed the direction of each needle, this time towards sneasel. "Youre getting my help whether you want it or not! Grace, fire!" Grace releaced the poison sting attack towards sneasel. The tiny needles would hopefully hit their target.

Yoori muttered a vulgarity under her breath as the Starly finally dived down, and Scraggy seized this opportunity to shove his knee straight into the side of the Starly's face to knock it off-course from it. It seemed more like some form of amateur High Jump Kick than a Low Kick (which is ironic considering it being one of Scraggy's later moves to learn, as well as being incredibly hard to perfect), but it seemed enough to deflect the attack and send the Starly spiralling across the arena to the far end of the place. Scraggy huffed, narrowing his eyes again with another Leer before dashing at it, grabbing the fallen bird with his tiny arms before attempting to repeatedly knee it in the gut for causing him so much trouble- but Yoori's voice stopped him. "Don't," she stated quietly, in her native tongue, which was enough to allow Scraggy to release the bird and stagger back to her side.
"Low blow," she mumbled, visibly beginning to shake from anger- this to her was not 'strategising' but straight out cheating, bullying her for being unable to land a proper hit on an airborne Pokémon. Scraggy waited, holding his skin pants and patiently observing the Starly, ready to charge at it before it could get into the air once more.

Dracoon Starly stood little chance once contact was made. The low kick attack was enough to take the wind from its lungs. "Oi, Starly, can you still make it?" Starly looked up and winced, attempting to take flight again. Unfortunately, after two flaps of its wings, the tiny bird collapsed. The battle was over. "Oh boy, oh boy." Bronnie exclaimed as he recalled his pokemon. "That was a turnaround if there ever was now, Love." He smiled widely as he fished outa bright orange tm from his bag. Bronnie walked over calmly and presented teh disc. "'ere you are. Treat it well. 'am lookin' forward to ya future, now. Ohohoho!" His bellowing chuckle seemed to echo through the area. "'Ahm sorry, Love, but I have to be going now. Lotsa trainin' to go through now. ohoho!" His laugh was almost calming, even with the volume, like he was a close friend. As he walked away, his wide smile could be plainly seen, even from the side. He seemed content. --- Heading into the nearby brush of the forest, Bronnie felt the movement of one of his pokeballs. With a light tap, he released a large purple Pokemon with glaring eyes and a sharp claw on each of its arms. "Calm down, Gabite." He turned to his pokeball with the starly in it. Unlike his other pokeballs, the one containing his starly was new looking and without scrape or wear. That pokemon had been caught recently. He then turned back to his Gabite, whose pokeball was rough and worn. "You can battle her when the sprout starts to bloom. We'll just keep testin' the youngin's for now..." Item Acquired: TM 11- Sunny Day

When the Starly fell, Yoori finally relaxed and unclenched her fists- her nails had dug into her flesh from how tightly she had held her stance and had begun to bleed. Scraggy accepted the disk on his owner's behalf (knowing that she would not budge from her spot any moment soon) before happily skipping over to present the hard earned reward to her. Yoori looked down after a long, uncomfortable silence, noticing the abysmal state of her hands but biting her lip and saying nothing. "You think he let us win?" she asked at last when Scraggy relieved her of her satchel, the girl visibly more subdued than earlier as her companion shrugged, searching for the TM compartment before sliding the disk inside. Nobody could learn it yet, and it could come in handy as a barter trade item or something for later.
She looked up with a squint, feeling the heat of the sky as she shielded her face as before. Jolted by the beeping of her Holocaster, Yoori swiped it with some irritation. "Hello Trainer! This is your Holo Caster with an update! You are currently very near an Official Pokemon League Battle Node as shown here on your map. Test your strength and win a Vitamin!" announced the Holocaster in an excited tone, and Yoori rolled her eyes. "If I liquidated the stuff I had, I can buy 5 of those," she snorted almost derisively, snapping it off before looking across her- there were a few trainers engaged, probably wanting that Vitamin edge than not. Scraggy began to follow after Yoori as she wandered into the grass again, before she turned, considering something.
"You've had quite the battle. Why not rest?" she began, in a tone almost too sweet to be the same individual, and before Scraggy could resist, he was recalled and Aron was left alone. The metal puppy sniffed at Yoori's shoes again, bright blue eyes eagerly waiting for a command as her stumpy tail wagged vigorously at her new trainer. "Right-o," Yoori cracked her knuckles, pointing to a random patch of grass, "Go attack a bug or something-" Her voice had barely settled when Aron shot off, scrambling as quickly as she could towards the first moving patch to Headbutt whatever lay within into her mercy.

Kaiser Each klefki worked in unison, showing proper training. Each spread out in separate directions to avoid the fire. Unfortunately, the quick movements had caught one of them. The fire, though from an untrained source, was more than effective to the metal fairies. The klefki fell to the ground, its keys jingling lightly. The struck klefki actually didnt seem so bad. It seemed to be continuingly looking up to see how the battle was going. Perhaps it had been instructed to stop if it had taken a certain amount of damage. THe remaining four klefki loked at each other and nodded. Two klefki gathered their strenght and formed a blue orb of energy, shooting it high into the air. Clouds formed around the area in a small cluster. Bits of water soon came down almost instantly. The rain was getting heavier as the seconds went by until a few puddles began to form. THe last tow kklefly turned to the fenniken, spinning their bodies and producing a pink wind. Thepink gusts shot forward together combining into one. To top it off, the drops of water from the air aided the strike by including a weakness for the small fire pokemon. These four were playing seriously, and seemed to have the knowledge to weaken fire attacks as well. They were certainly living up to their trainer's names. Conor was surprised that Fennekin would attack without him oredering her to, although given her rash behavior before he should've expected that. The boy watched how the Klefki moved in unison to dodge the attack, though one didn't dodge the move entirely and fell to the ground, apparently defeated, Conor smiled "one less, four more to go" he said to himself before realizing the remaining Klefki had split in two groups, one performed a Rain Dance move, summoning rain to the battlefiel dwhich almost immediately soaked the surroundings while the second group created some sort of twister and using the rain to empower it, hit on Fennekin hurting her more than it should've. Conor shrugged, he had to do something, though he knew that Fire Pledge wouldn't be of much help now that the rain was falling, he had to make some time until it would stop, hopefully. "Ok Fennekin, I know you're hurt but you gotta show 'em you're still able to fight! Use Tail Whip to distract them and follow up with a Scratch!" the boy commanded, he knew that a Scratch would not really be enough to defeat any Steep Type pokemon, but it would at least, buy them some time before they would use Fire Pledge. Fennekin stood from the ground and shook her head after hearing her trainer, she was not willing to wait, she had to get payback for what the ky rings did to her. Fennekin opened her mouth once again releasing a Fire Pledge move, although it was greatly weakened, not even half the strength than the one before, but she was confident it would deal some good damage to the Klefkis. Conor shrugged, he couldn't believe Fennekin would simply ignore him, worse, he wasn't even sure her Fire Pledge would even reach any of the foes and if it didn't, she could be getting defeated with the horde's next move.

"Hmph" Yumi frowned at her attacks missing again. She and Torque were supposed to be an unbeatable team! What was missing? Her attacks were powerful, her aim was spot on, and she trusted her partner. Syrus wasnt getting too far either on his own...Was what he said right? could working together really make that much of a difference? She had to give it a try. It was better than losing. "Torque!" She caught the attention of her Torkoal. She could see her friend was directing another attack at the two pokemon, this tie it was a poison sting attack. "Use smog to cover the area!" She called out. This was the best she could do for now. Hopefully the thick smog wwould make the attack harder to dodge.

Yuki and Manta
The smog covered the area faster than the poison sting could be sent, most likely due to the aid from the wind. With no visibility on their end, the two pokemon could not effectively dodge the poison sting controlled with psychic power. A small thumping sound could be heard, before the wind blew the smog away. Both pokemon were breathing heavily, and it could be seen that they were both poisoned by then combination of poison type attacks. Sneasel was especially effected, as its heavy movements only worsened the circulation of poison. Sneasel jumped forward, preparing to send a scratch attack at ralts. Sandshrew rolled up into a ball once more adn began to spin rapidly at torkoal, each pokemon seemed to be sending out their last bit of strength to attack.
Dracoon
Out of the nearby bushes sprouted a rather large pokemon with scruffy white fur and long floppy ears. The attack from the aron actually did not reach it, but the sound alone was enough to shake it out of hiding. The pokemon shook its body to remove excess dirt, looking down in the much smaller pokemon in irritation. THe large white pokemon had at least 2 feet on the aron, but it wasnt just height. It was as if the wild pokemon was looking down on the other almost in disgust. Perhaps it was due to the aron and its trainer's actions causing it to become dirty, or perhaps it deemed itself to be better. A small snarl could be heard in its direction before it unleashed a loud growl attack to warn the two to stay away. The visual distortions in the air from the attack showed the power behind it, warning the aron to back away, unless it wanted to battle. Found:

Special Move(s): N/A Kaiser The four klefki danced around the fennekin tauntingly. One klefki got too close, falling for a tail whip taunt, and tehn a tackle attack, however the rain on klefki's smooth body caused most of the impact to slide right off. Though each klefki wasnt particularly powerful, they were certainly great at working together. Their synced movements were proof of this. One klefki glowed brightly behind fennekin, as the others surrounded its front. The one behind unleashed a fairy lock attack, sending out chains of energy that surrounded the tiny fox pokemon. This took away its escape routes. While one klefki set up the stage, the other three began to spin, conjuring a large pink mass of wind. THe water from the rain dance combined with the wind, causing the attack to have added droplets to it. The klefki shot the wind forward in a swift gale. The klefki in the back would be hit, but that seemed to be a calculated risk that they were willing to take.

Yumi shouted loudly. "Alright!" She finally got an effectove attack in. Though it wasnt clear on how, both pokemin become poisoned after the attack. Yumi gave herself credit on it proudly, though even she knew that she couldnt be sure. The two pokemon began to attack again. They were clearly fatigued, but they went on anyway. The sneasel went towards Syrus while sandshrew launched towards Torque. She wanted to attack the sandshrew, but sneasel was a bigger concern. That pokemon was immune to direct psychic moves. syrus probably wouldnt be able to defend properly. She had a choice to make, but not a hard one. "Torque, ember on sneasel!" Her shout was followed by her hand reaching out in their direction. This was it. This was teamwork.

Manta and Yuki Sneasel rushed towards ralts, claws out and ready. The sun above flashed brightly against the brightly rubbed reflective surface of sneasels claw. "Grace, Confusion!" Sneasel continued forward with the last of its energy, fully prepared to put its weight into its attack. Just before it struck, sneasel was bombarded by a flurry of embers from behind. At the same time, Grace's confusion attack sent a psychic blast towards the spinning sandshrew. Dudt and dirt was wildly kicked up as the sandshrew was pushed into a nearby tree. both pokemon collapsed at teh same time. ___ A few moments later, each pokemon came to. Sneasel went over to the bag that they were carrying, as sandshrew dust itself off. Sneasel handed sandshrew a pecha berry to eat, following it up by taking out an oran berry. Sneasel held it up high and slashed furiously at it, causing it to split into four peices. Sneasel tossed one over to sandshrew before walking over to the other two pokemon and offering them each a quarter of a berry. The animosity felt before had vanished. As sneasel went over to the two pokemon, sandshrew went to dig through the bag itself. The digging pokemon pulled out two bottles with clear writing on them. One was labeled 'carbos' and the other was labeled 'calcium'. The bottles each had only one pill in each, with writing adn instructions on the side of the bottle. Sandshrew walked next to sneasel and cheered loudly, as it presented the calcium to Torkoal, and the carbos to Ralts. With that, they packed up, and waved goodbye before rushing off to the nearby shrubbery. Within only a few seconds, the sounds of their rustling could no longer be heard. THere was a brief pause in the air before Syrus began to speak. "Alright!" He said, almost shouting. "I knew we could do it! And we worked together! haha" Syrus was dancing in place while grace smiled and attempted to imitate him. It was a tough fight, certainly, but a good experience overall. AS Syrus Danced, he wondered what was so special about a vitamin. He had read about it in books, but it didnt seem particularly ostentatious. Perhaps it was like human vitamin? Whatever the case, Syrus decided to keep it in his bag for later, though he was sure that he would offer it to grace later on. "Did you want to get going, Yumi?"

Aron leapt back from the Growl, visibly unaffected but the sound reverberating off her body caused Yoori to crouch down and cover her ears. "I'll take that over a bug," she declared, a shadow of a grin crossing her lips as she flipped open her Pokedex to see what moves it had. The wild Furfrou seemed to have the usual run-of-the-mill set, but what bothered her was the Fur Coat ability, which cushioned any moves Aron would have on it. "Ron!" cried out the tiny metal puppy, charging forward with a reckless Tackle in order to get the first move off before Yoori could say anything- she cupped Scraggy's ball in her hand, watching as Aron dashed quickly (or, as quickly as she could on three legs), before she leapt into the air: the reflection of her metallic mask-like face created a distracting glare as she barrelled down, trying to use her weight to smash into the side of the Furfrou.
Yoori got up, dusting herself as she watched- Scraggy's ball still on the ready in case things went south. If anything, Furfrou's moves would also do nothing to Aron, all things considered, since the Pokedex hadn't alerted her to anything out of the ordinary yet. She watched, silent and almost a little bit reverent at the persistent Aron, both impressed and apprehensive of what to do next.

Yumi snatched up her calcium, watching the two pokemon scurry away. She looked at the bottle. This one pill enhances stats apparently. One of them anyway. That is something she learned before her journey. She looked over at Syrus. "Hey...that was..." she didnt want to admit her shortcomings. "We did pretty good, huh?" She smiled brightly before bending down to congradulate her torque. She didnt expect Syrus to be fully prepared to defend her pokemon as well. He had planned it before she executed her attack. It was planned from the start. She might actually like hanging out with this guy. "Alright dude, we ahr behind, yeah? We gotta catchup now to the other trainers. Catchin pokemon, gettin to Jubilife." Her voice was trembling before she let out a shout. "I aint getting left behind! Cmon!" Yumi tugged on Syrus' hand and pulled him along, rushing to get to the next town.

Dracoon Furfrou growled lightly at its failed attempt to hinder its opponents movements. being young itself, furfrou assumed that smaller foes were less of a challenge. perhaps if the larger human behind the aron werent there, the intimidation would have worked. What was more surprising was its speed. Furfrou could tell by its heavy footsteps that the pokemon. It was hard to imagine, but the little pokemon was certainly at least twice its own weight. For it to doge so easily meant trouble for the furry pokemon. but it had speed too. As the charging aron went in for a tackle attack, furfrou mimicked aron's earlier move and lept back. though it was young, this pokemon was noticably faster than the heavy steel type. However, the furry pokemon's tendency to keep its eye on its opoenent, though typically condescendingly, worked against it. The glare from the steel type's outer shell caused furfrou to be temporarily blinded. the quadriplegic normal type struggled to keep its balance while it tried to recover, leaving it open for attack. The blinded furfrou did what it could to defend itself, letting out another growl. The vibrations caused the area to appear similar to how furfrou could currently see: distorted and constantly moving. It was a wonder if furfrou was even aware of teh visual attributes of the attack. Yuki Lying in the open field in front of her was a long blue item like figure. It had what looked like a ribbon protrusion coming off of the top, and seemed oddly well made. A few nearby pidgey landed near it to search for food, but stopped suddenly. Looking around, they seemed uneasy. After only a few moments, the odd blue and grey item, shifted a bit, causing the pidgey to take off in their typically cautious response. But it was the odd relic like thing moving on its own that was more of an attention grabber. The long item like figure moved a bit more, almost as if its cover was blown and it didnt need to hide anymore. Floating upright, as if by magic or psychic ability, the item revealed itself as a pokemon. Upon seeing the girl, the odd pokemon took its long scarf like addition, and...removed its lower half, revealing a sword like body. The pokemon floated closer, preparing to attack. Found:

Manta A tiny, round tail could be seen close to Syrus and his Ralts, and the tail seemed to stiffen at the sight of humans before quickly dashing out- it appeared to be a Tepig, which was obviously not native to the area. The Tepig was also missing a chunk of its ear, probably from possible inbreeding, but the Tepig looked flighty and terrified by Syrus's presence. "Pig!" it cried out, trying to ward them off with its voice but seeing this did not work, Tepig attacked, charging at the Ralts with a Tackle with its eyes closed. It was obvious Tepig was just trying to get a hit in no matter what, and its reckless behaviour suggested a poor encounter before with humans. Found: Approximate Level: 7 Special Move: Body Slam ------ "Ron!" Aron ignored the distortions, since she already had a vantage point and charged down, Tackling the Furfrou furiously without mercy. Yoori however was not as lucky, being struck with a dizzy spell from being subjected to such vibrating distortion twice in a row. "I think I might puke," she stated to no one in particular, unable to get up and keeping her eyes low to prevent herself from throwing up. As she landed, Aron created a small crater from her weight and scrambled back to her feet, shouting at the Furfrou. "Ron! Aron!" she cried out, the noisy metal puppy secreting a thick film of gooey metal from her body to create a second layer of protective shell before crouching down to let it dry- a Harden, and dug in her heels, observing her opponent. Yoori cradled her head for a few moments and soon came back to herself, just in time for Aron to turn around with a "Ron?" of confusion for a command. The slight moment of distraction was enough for the Furfrou to attack though, and Yoori, unsure of what to tell her Pokémon, just shouted, "Use Headbutt?" Aron tilted her head, confused about being told a move she had not learnt yet, but eager to impress, began to dash once more in another Tackle.

Hey! My name's Sun! ...but of course you already know that because my name is on the cover of this journal. My dad told me to keep a log of my travels in this thing. I was just going to blog it online but he told me doing it this way would make my journey more authentic. I find it annoying to have to write into this thing by han---- [the plane's landing caused her to draw a jagged line] hand when typing is so much easier not to mention more convenient. Anyway, my plane from the Orange Islands just landed at a little airport in Sandgem Town. I'm really happy to be back in my home region, but part of me still feels kind of nervous I guess?
I made it to the Pokemon Center where I got some breakfast, and I'm supposed to head to the lab now to talk to Mr. Rowan, or Professor, whatever. Oh yeah I was supposed to collect mementos, so I gathered some beach sand from the Sandgem beach in a little container to bring home! Well uh, anyways, bye for now journal!
-Sun <3
The girl shoved her journal into her bag and slung it over her shoulder. She stood up and walked through the spacious Pokemon Center back to the entrance where the automatic doors whooshed open and she stepped outside into the early afternoon air. It was a bit chilly outside, but she was rather used to it seeing as she was from this region. She hadn't been to Sandgem town in many years, but it didn't look much different than how it did 7 years ago. Sun admired her surroundings as she walked along the sidewalk to the nearby Pokemon Lab. Although her dad worked with Professor Rowan, she only met him once when she was a toddler. An embarrassing memory from the previous day flashed through her mind. "Let's hope he's not expecting you to be a boy! After all I asked him to give a pokemon to my Sun!" Her dad laughed and she just sort of gave him a blank stare. Dad jokes were definitely something she wouldn't miss.
She headed inside the building and talked to a receptionist who pointed her down a hallway where the Professor supposedly was. This was an official appointment so she didn't have to worry about interrupting anything or coming in uninvited. Above all else she just worried about the pokemon she would receive. The girl hoped for something cute- but cool! Something strong- but gentle! After all, this would be her new partner and her closest ally in her journey to collect the Sinnoh badges!
"Hi, um, Professor Rowan? I'm Sun, Uhm, Mr. Huber's daughter?" She said knocking on the doorframe as she entered the room.
