"A spinning globe of wonderment! Home for an infinite array of creatures too varied to fully comprehend. Hundreds, perhaps thousands, meticulously fashioned by the forces of nature in all its glory as only nature can. And no matter what corner of the world you find yourself, rest assured you'll find Pokemon there as well. Soaring overhead, skimming the clouds, and riding the currents undersea. Sharing the mountain's majesty and animating many of our lush, green forests. Happily making their home in the tall grass. Why even our sprawling cities are teeming with them! People and Pokemon find common ground sharing the goal of victory in the Pokemon Battle, trying to become friends, comrades and Pokemon Masters."
"My name is Professor Rowan, the Sinnoh region's leading researcher of Pokemon, specifically how they evolve. Paired with trainers over the years, we have been able to unlock some of the hidden secrets that Pokemon hide. However, with all secrets, they can come with a price. Over the years countless criminals and underground organizations have attempted to use Pokemon for nefarious purposes, resurrecting even the once thought beasts of Legend. It is the moral duty of every Pokemon trainer enrolled in the Pokedex Project to simultaneously work to protect the delicate balance that holds this world together."
"Show your rank by defeating our registered Gym Leaders and see if you have what it takes to go up against the Elite Four, a quartet of some of the most powerful trainers this land has to offer. Who knows, you might get lucky. Please slide your Trainer ID in the card reader slot of your Pokenav device to complete your video orientation. If you have any questions which I'm sure many of you will, you can ask me at my lab. I look forward to meeting with you all very soon."

The girl lingered for a few moments, huddled under the tree near the villa she lived in the Resort Area. She couldn't quite believe that she was going to actually leave her grandparents and actually become a Trainer- a full-fledged Pokémon Trainer, just like her dad was. Her Scraggy lay sleeping on her lap, a gift from her father just several days before he had been deployed. Nobody knew where the pilot had vanished to: all that was known was that his plane had lost contact with the army officials over the Sevii Islands, and that was the last anyone had ever heard of the older mister Lee.
Yoori framed the stars in the sky with her fingers, letting out a small sniffle as she placed a hand over Scraggy's head. "I'll find you," she stated, as a lone star seemed to twinkle out of focus for a few moments before returning to its usual glow, "Wherever you'll be. I know...you're out there somewhere. I'm old enough, I've had Scraggy for five years now- and if your parents said yes, you've got no reason to waggle your finger at me." She inhaled deeply, trying not to remember and shed tears. Tears were a sign of weakness, she reminded herself, as she turned to return to the house with her Pokémon in her arms, and it was time she grew out of it. ----- The next day, after an arduous boatride to Snowpoint and then flying straight to Sandgem on her grandfather's enormous Skarmory, a poor seasick Yoori (and an equally distressed Scraggy, who had never left the comfort of the villa at the Resort Area) were finally near Professor Rowan's lab. Perhaps it wasn't quite seasickness, though, as Scraggy pulled the insulin pen from his skin trousers to offer Yoori, since pushing through the crowds that were clogging up Snowpoint plus the quickly shifting weathers could mess with one's body very much. Yoori stumbled into a seat at the Pokémon Center, stabbing herself with the shot before she opened up her box of rations for the day- an expensive beef bento as well as Kalos-imported Poképuffs for Scraggy. While Scraggy ate his fill, Yoori had her eyes peeled on the TV for latest news.
After some prattle about criminals and stuff that Professor Rowan had gone through (Yoori picked at her food listlessly at the whole fearmongering, it wasn't her thing, honestly), there were some commercials, one which included the 'prestigious Couriway Hotel' as part of the Visit Kalos campaign. Yoori cringed visibly, immediately polishing the rest of her lunchbox off to prevent second-hand embarrassment.
Scraggy was still holding his half-eaten Puff as he dashed out behind Yoori, the girl already eager to start her journey by leaving a good first impression on Professor Rowan. Sliding in front of the large doors of the Pokémon lab, Yoori once again framed it in between her fingers. "I didn't think it'll be bigger than old Sycamore's but here we are," she mused aloud, and Scraggy wiped his mouth while looking around his surroundings obliviously, "I heard he gives out free TMs, maybe we could get something good for you. Like...Knock Off. Or Head Smash. You know, stuff we saw when we used to hang out at the Maison back at Geosange. Badass sets."
Scraggy nodded, barely understanding a thing as he dusted himself off. He was already tired, but since his trainer was being so pumped, he felt just as energetic as well.

"Do you smell it Grace?" Syrus' hair flowed in the wind as he and his pokemon came closer to the mainland on the ship. "That's the smell of Sinnoh!" Grace looked up in excitement. The fresh ocean air was refreshing for him, coming from a forest area he had rarely gotten an experience like this. HE had gotten his pokedex sent to him to Laverre including pokeballs. Normally he would have left to get his first pokemon, but Syrus was already content with his ralts, Grace. With that in mind, he didnt really need to visit the lab, though he was going to Sandgem town. "Are you ready for our journey Grace? I've got a good feeling about this!" ___ As they landed on the sandy beach that led to Sandgem, Syrus his ralts sat down next to the water to check their supplies. "okay soo..." He bagan as he went through his bag. "We have our pokedex and 5 pokeballs from the professor, and I have some cooking supplies from dad. A knife, a cutting board, some measuring cups, and some food for poffins, pokepuffs, and pokeblocks!" Syrus made sure to bring supplies to make food for him and his pokemon. Though he would still have to collect some berries first. That much was certain. He could probably find some berries on his journey, but it would be tough since this place wasnt as full of plants and berries as the forests of Laverre. Pecha and Mago Berries were the goal for Grace's treats, but a Custap berry would be a divine find. After packing up his supplies, Syrus ran into town. He hadnt traveled much in his life, so this was a new experience, but besides the ocean and the beach, he didnt seem too interested in the town itself. The lab seemed busy, and he was happy that he didnt have to wait in such a long line. The town also had a standard pokemon center and a poke mart. Once he gathered some money, he would be sure to get some supplies. "Did you want to look around Grace, or did you want to continue onto the next town?" His Ralts looked around at the town and nodded. The two of them reached the end of the town and began to walk along the route. "Alright! Let's you and I get stronger and make some more friends!" Val stopped to rest on a fallen tree in Route 201. She had spent at least an hour just walking around, trying to walk off the sickness from her flight over. It wasn't flight on Pokemon that bothered her. Those flights are uneasy and feel somewhat natural, like boating. It was the flight over on a plane. The motion itself wasn't the issue, but the thought that she was thousands of feet over the ocean with no way out if she didn't want to be there. She could have just found her way into the city and found a place to relax indoors, but that would involve explaining to whatever local or other person where she's from, what she wants to do, and other meaningless small talk. It just wasn't worth her time.
She juggled the pokeball of her new Pokemon, a Lapras, between her fingers. Val, like many other trainers, opted to have most of her stuff sent to her by mail so she could avoid waiting for however long at the Professor's lab. The rest of the balls had been pinned to her messenger bag, giving the illusion that she had already managed to catch a full team of Pokemon. After a few tugs at the straps to be sure that everything was secure, she set back off on the path to the city. There was something in the video message sent out to the trainers about registration, which she hoped wouldn't take too long. If she had it her way she would run in, register, then quickly run out and back to the woods to find some peace after a hectic few hours.
After a few minutes of walking she found herself in the town. It was nothing particularly impressive. Houses dotted the paths and businesses seemed small with very little to attract the eyes of any passerby. It was a stark contrast from her hometown, Lilycove. She was used to the multiple story, grandiose mall that was an icon of the city's skyline. While many sailing in from the sea to east of the city would have looked out for some sort of lighthouse, a good number who had been to the city knew better to look for the department store and its twinkling lights. Sandgem seemed so dull to her. Nothing to see, nothing to do. No museums, fancy cafes, or monuments. In fact, the only reason this town was likely on the map was because Sycamore had chosen it as the location for his lab. Regardless, she had to get registered. Once she arrived at the grandest building of the city (though it still seemed like nothing to her), she pushed her way through the crowd and to the front. After a short talk that she would likely not recall with the professor, she was registered.
As soon as it was all over, she bolted out the doors of the lab. Her surroundings seemed almost completely new. It wasn't that she was dropped into some alternate universe or everything around there had changed, it was just that she spent so much time worrying about getting her registration over with that she never took the time to remember anything around her. Luckily, there was a map application on her PokeNav. Val swiped away at her wrist, eventually pulling up a map of Sandgem and the surrounding woods. The city had three exits: one to the south which was a beach of some sort, and one to the north and west which were both forest. After some deduction, she chose to go with Route 202. It wasn't the same as before, but it was no different to her. She just wanted someplace to clear her mind and enjoy herself a bit more.
In just a small amount of time she found herself a good distance into the Route. The canopy grew thicker and only smaller beams of sunlight dotted the ground below. Bushes rustled in every direction, indicating the presence of wildlife. It was so new, but so exciting.

The professor was busy with his assistants, perfectly visible from where she would be able to see. He seemed to be fiddling about with a dismantled golden Pokeball. One of his assistants came over instead asking her to wait. A short while later, the professor greeted Yoori and registered her officially as a part of the Pokedex project. He went through the usual shpeal about how this was the greatest moment in her life and that she was going to be helpful for something or another. Much to the probable disappointment of the new trainer, she was not to recieve a TM though he did point her in the direction of the first city. With a little more small chat, he sent her on his way as he distractedly returned to the strange device. The atmosphere rung... literally in fact as countless Kricketot and Kricketune lay hidden in the tall grass serenading each other. The small tap tap tapping of a Kricketot's antenna was the inspiration for one of many children's favorite instruments, the xylophone. One such Kricketot peeped out of the leaf litter and tottered about, its antennae plopping together. It didn't notice the trainer outright and seemed more interested in the ambiance of the nearby forest and grasslands. Found: Approximate Level : 2 Known MovesGrowl, Bide, Uproar
It seemed that the bug Pokemon of the area were unusually active. A scuttling could be heard as the many legs of a heavily armored Venipede struck them. It was searching for food in the tall grass and leaf little but wasn't having much luck. The little centipede suddenly noticed the human nearby and vibrated its body to produce a sound similar to rattling or hissing... or both. It was on the defense and had managed to wedge itself between a crack in a boulder. The Poison Type was known to have a pretty wicked bite. Found: Approximate Level : 3 Known MovesDefense Curl , Rollout

Conor looked around, as the map indicated, there was not much special about this town, only the Pokemon Center, the PokeMart a few houses and a larger building, he smiled, he had finally reached Sandgem Town. He grabbed the sole pokeball in his belt and let the pokemon out, in a flash of light the oblivious Stunky appeared "well, I guess we've managed to reach Rowan's town, soon enough we'll be able to catch some more pokemon... and we'll need them" he said, the last part mostly for him, followed by a regretful sigh, he didn't trust Stunky's fight abilities very much. Conor indicated for Stunky to follow him, he wasn't actually fond of having him outside the pokeball, the stencht of the pokemon would more likely make people angry at him, but there was nothing to do, Stunky was now his pokemon and he had to get used to him, specially because the pokemon reached for him, getting itself inside his only pokeball when he attempted to throw it at a Geodude back at Mount Coronet, making the skunk Conor's unwilling first pokemon.
It wasn't long before they reached the lab and as soon as they passed through the door, people started complaining by the smell, Conor smiled, this would work in his behalf as he used it as an excuse to reach the Prof. and his registration in just a few minutes. With a smile on his face and with his Trainer ID validated he couldn't wait to catch his first pokemon. Taking on the closest exit from the town, Conor and Stunky made their way through Route 201, probably Stunky's smell would scare away some of the pokemon, but he hoped, that those who didn't run away would be pokemon strong enough to add to his team, though he was likely to settle catching almost any wild pokemon just to give his team a bit more of variety... and a non-smelling pokemon.

Yoori looked visibly offended as she was dismissed by Professor Rowan, just like that. She was ushered away before she could get a word in, however, and trudged in dismay towards the first route. A girl around her age, as well as 2 boys were already ahead of her, and 2 out of 3 of them were faced with gross Bug-type Pokémon. "Ew," Yoori couldn't help but comment, as Scraggy tiptoed into the tall grass, "I hope we don't get one of those things. Most bugs are gross. I mean, can you imagine them crawling in your--" She stopped short with a shudder before noticing Scraggy gone, the only indication of him wandering ahead of her was the little red antennae-like tuft wiggling about in the grass.
The girl waited outside the grass, unwilling to get her new pants dirty as the tuft wiggled about, Scraggy happily exploring the strange tall grass that seemed somewhat familiar to him. She froze the moment Scraggy's tuft stiffened, as if terrified by something- a Pokémon! Yoori edged over to the grass, peering over her Pokémon in an attempt to see what it was while also trying to keep out of the grass, hoping with all her might that it wasn't a Bug-type she couldn't stand. I should've bought Max Repels if I knew the grass was crawling with those, she mused inwardly, ready to command Scraggy into Headbutting whichever unlucky Pokémon into submission, Or pants that could afford to get dirty.

"Grace, I have to say," Syrus began. "Sinnoh is definitely different than Kalos. Kalos had an air of mystery to it. It is more of a modern fairy tail. But Sinnoh feels more like it is full of history and strength. It's hard to explain, but you understand, right Grace?" Grace nodded in agreement, though Syrus was unsure if she was just agreeing to be polite. Syrus responded by pointing enthusiastically. "like that tree over there! Doesnt it just feel like an old man who has a bunch of stories to tell?" Grace looked at him and looked at the tree, pausing before giving a fake smile. "So you do understand! I knew it!" Syrus sang out.
As his joy increased, he heard a ringing noise amongst the route. It sounded like a musical instrument, though he couldnt quite put his finger on it. Was there someone nearby? Another trainer? He looked around curiously, Grace joining him in his search. It wasnt until he spotted some ruting in a nearby pile of leaves that he spotted the source. It was not a human, but a pokemon! It didnt seem to notice them yet, so Syrus got his pokedex out. He wasnt too informed on the pokemon that werent plentiful in Kalos, so this was a learning experience. The pokedex opened, revealing the option to point and scan now that a pokemon was within range. THe device chirped up in a semi familiar tone.
"Kricketot, the Cricket Pokémon. Its legs are short and if it stumbles, is hard antennae can make a xylophone-like sound when they rub together."
"Type...bug. but it looks young, younger than grace anyway. Ralts shouldnt have any trouble with bug types but...It isnt attacking us. " Syrus gave a huff. "I feel kind of bad bothering it. It might stop making that sound." Syrus made an attempt to back away, picking up his ralts and reducing the footsteps to be heard. "Let's keep going Grace. Maybe we can find you a battle partner..." Syrus whispered. He walked in the opposite direction, thinking of how he would probably not see if the pokemon followed him, but he would probably hear it. "But to think that such musical pokemon exist! I had heard of pokemon that dance like ludicolo, but not about that cutie." He smiled down at his pokemon who also seemed content with the sound that cam from the other pokemon."I heard that the city that we are going to has some cool technology, Grace. I cant wait to see the city!" By this time, Syrus had put grace down. He knew that she could probably just float around if her legs got tired. But he did want to start training her more. That is what the two of them agreed on for the journey. But they would have to find a nice partner, or another trainer.

"Oi, we gotta hurry!" Yumi was jogging in place, waiting for her torkoal to catch up with her. "Ah, i know you can do it buddy." Torkoal strained to catch up to his trainer. "Alright, ill help." Yumi ran up to pick up her pokemon. Not only was he heavy, but the heat coming from the shell was intense. Yumi ran past up the beach with her pokemon in hand, getting to Sandgem town from the boat. "Aintcha glad that we dont have to worry about gettin a pokedex?" She said as she sped walked past the lab "I aint fallen behind these other trainers." Yumi was pretty competetive, not that she liked it acknowledged. "Glad that i got me a fire type. I can definitely get somes wins in working with you buddy. I can tell that you are a tough one." She made her way to the outskirts of the city and paused. "You kmow...i could probably just letcha in your pokeball you know. It would help with carrying ya." She looked at her hands and how red tgey were getting. Seemed like a good idea. "Or maybe i should just walk. As long as no one is in front of us, we should be fine." She started up the route to jubilife town. It was grassy and windy, much better than the sea town she was from. There was more to do. More to see. She had mostly only seen water pokemon, so she was eager to find something different, and even better, catch a great pokemon to join her and help her be the best.

Val smacked her hand to her face. For whatever reason, this little maroon bug found her to be a threat. It hadn't quite occurred to her that in the wild every Pokemon is trying their best to just stay alive. She shrugged and shook her head. "Whatever, you little turd," she said, unhooking her Lapras' pokeball from her bag. After a quick click, the ball was enlarged. Most trainers normally threw their balls to release a Pokemon, but she truthfully had no clue that it was the common thing to do. Val pressed the button and held it, releasing her Pokemon. The light slowly faded and the Lapras' form was revealed. Being that it was a normally water-bound Water-type, it wouldn't be able to move much. Luckily, it would be able to withstand some serious hits if they were to the shell and could struggle around at least a little. It was much taller than the enemy and could likely defend itself if it had to.
"Alright," Val started, lifting her wrist up and pointing the small sensor on the side toward her own Pokemon. She took note of the registered moves. It was the first time she had even bothered to take a look. "Uh... Sing!"
The Lapras let out a soft tune while slightly swaying its head. Val covered her ears, unsure if the move would have any effect on her.

A dash of red and yellow zipped past the trainer and his Pokemon followed quickly by a sudden surge of heat. The mysterious creature stopped for a moment attempting to catch its breath and seemed to be fleeing from something in pursuit. No sooner than that thought could cross someone's mind did Professor Rowan himself along with a handful of assistants appear out of the tall grass. " STOP!" the Professor shouted. But the little fix growled defiantly and unleashed an impressive ring of fire pillars. " GET AWAY EVERYONE!" shouted the Professor yet again, " IT'S USING FIRE PLEDGE." No doubt this was the same Fennekin the trainer had seen in the lab before. It briefly seemed to be a potential choice as a starter but was quickly replaced by less desirable choices. It somehow seemed to know what is commonly referred to as a Tutor Move and in this case, Fire Pledge. Suddenly the Pokemon turned its attention towards Conor and his Stunky ready to fight. The Professor called out to the boy. " It seems to be challenging you." Found : Approx Level : 3 Known Moves Tail Whip, Scratch, Fire Pledge
Something clinked in the boy's backpack as he walked away. The noise was melodical only in the sense that it was clinking to the rhythm of the boy walking. Regardless, it was enough to peak the interest of this particular Kricketot which was now following him, clinking its own antennae to synchronize with the beat of whatever was jingle-jangling in there. It looked like it was skipping to the beat, obviously enjoying itself. Run Away Attempt Failed
The earth shifted beneath as an Aron attempted to trip the passerby. It was successful in loosing a Pokeball from her belt (luckily unregistered) and immediately began to consume it attempting to drag it into its burrow. It giggled a bit as it did so. Upon further inspection, one would notice that it was missing a leg, a normal deformity as it was the released offspring of a chain-bred set of Pokemon, an illegal activity to all but the most renowned of breeders. Found : Approx Level : 4 Known Moves Tackle, Harden, Smelling Salts
Perhaps it was her thoughts on her recent observations of Water Types or perhaps it was simply chance. Either way, there was no mistaking the squacking of a flock of Wingull. They had ridden the updrafts inland where they usually perched and also just happened to be passing close enough to the trainer for a potential capture. However, it would be difficult getting their attention without getting mobbed by the entire flock. The trick was to somehow single out one of them without the others noticing. Then she might have a chance. One Wingull in particular seemed to be stronger than the rest.
Found : Approx Level : 4 Known Moves Growl, Water Gun, Twister
The buzzing of its own body seemed to dilute the effect of the Lapras' Sing but still resulted in a drowsy centipede. It snapped out of the trance quickly and hissed loudly in anger. This Pokemon was now poisonous, cornered and frenzied, a terrible combination of traits to be had right now. It removed itself from the rock, its hardened carapace scraping against the side of it and curled into a ball. Its exoskeletal shield only grew stronger as it Defense Curled before barreling straight towards the much larger opponent with a Roll-Out attack. If anything else, it was hoping to distract the trainer's Pokemon enough to get away.

"Grace? I noticed that when you were walking with me, you seemed to shimmer. What was that? " Syrus was genuinely curious. Although he had fought and mock trained pokemon at the trainer's school, he specifically withheld training Grace until his journey began. He had no idea what she was capable of. "Like can you turn invisible or something? Maybe it is a heat attack! yeah, i bet you can learn like fire blast or something." Grace simply looked up in confused daze. She knew that wasnt going to happen. "The pokedex says that you are a psychic and fairy type. I know that psychic types can normally know a huge range of moves so fire blast is probably a possibility!" He was getting excited now. "Here, I'll check the pokedex to see if it is true." Syrus stopped to check his backpack for his pokedex. Before he could take his pack all the way off, he realized that the sound of his pack was no the only one being produced.
"Ah!" Syrus yelped. It was the kriketot from before. All short and stumpy, the little pokemon seemed to have been following him. it had to be Up close, the pokemon was bigger than expected. "How did it get so close?" He was sure it wouldnt be able to follow him, at least not with that jungling that it makes. He didnt really perceive it as a threat, but he certainly didnt want to harm the little bug. It was basically a baby. "Grace, I need your help, but please dont hurt it. Use Growl!" Syrus shouted.
Syrus' Ralts opened her mouth wide and aimed towards her trainer. A high pitched wail was released, distorting the small amount of air between them to become almost visible. Syrus was rather used to it after spending so much time with his partner, but thought, just a little too late, about how he could have simply tried running away again.

"Haha...just mah luck." Yumi peered above to see a flock of wingull overhead. Being from a sea town, she had extensive knowledge of water pokemon, especially more common ones than this. "And here i was hoping my journey would start with something new." Her fists began to shake, her pokemon quickly taking notice. "Alright then buddy. Lets find the strongest one of those things and take them. " she turned to her torkoal. "My luck may not think we can do it, but i sure do. You ready buddy?" Torkoal spewed smoke from its shell in agreement.
Yumi scanned the flock. She had been used to picking out the stronger of these type of pokemon. It seemed that out of all them, one had piwerful enough wings to really kick up some wind. "You see that one in the distance? It is the one with the more muscular wings. Can you aim an ember attack only at that one?" Torkoal nodded silently and collected heat in its furnace type shell, firing a few small ollection of embers at the specific wingull."

The Lapras' head soon stopped swaying and the melody stopped playing. It opened its eyes to see the Venipede rolling to attack. The Pokemon glanced sideways at its trainer, waiting for a command. Val felt as if the entire moment was frozen in time. She began running scenarios to figure out what she could do to counter the attack. Sadly, the moment was nowhere near frozen and her Lapras took the hit. It had tried to maneuver so that its shell would have been the target, but it was unclear whether or not this was what the small bug had actually hit. ((I don't wanna determine if it worked, so I'll leave that to you))
"Well," Val started, sighing and running her hand through her hair. She had to make a decision now or her Pokemon would have just been mercilessly beat by the wild one while she waited to make a decision, "Water Gun. Try to hit it and redirect the Rollout when it gets close to you." The hope was to both weaken it and modify the path of the Rollout so that it wouldn't collide with Lapras. The Pokemon froze for a moment, locking onto the Venipede. It opened its mouth and unleashed a steady stream of water toward it.

Scraggy had only tripped over a rock, shaking his head as he got up and turned to Yoori as if to say he was ok. Yoori was too relieved to notice her Pokéball being stolen, but Scraggy, with his low vantage point, did. Yoori turned with Scraggy as the determined lizard pulled up his pants and huffily followed behind the Aron, finally noticing the small armour-plated creature when her Pokémon did. "That's...actually not bad," she mused aloud, barely registering the connotations of the missing leg and the fact that she could catch it before Scraggy seized the opportunity to punish the Aron for its stealing.
Acrobatically, he jumped forth to stop the Aron from moving further. His eyes glowed intimidatingly with a slight flash- a Leer, and then lunged forth, trying to trip the Aron up with Low Kick so that he could get the Ball back. Yoori could only watch as Scraggy acted upon his instincts, pleasantly surprised that of all his years of being domesticated, he could still do battle.
