speshalErin pressed his fore-fingers to his nose obviously annoyed by what he deemed an otherwise dumb question. "This is a Magnemite, you know, those things that power most of the cities in the world?" He was right. Because of their unique biological nature, Magnemite were essentially living batteries. In the past, environmental activists grew their numbers and one of the first things to go was Nuclear Power. Though essentially clean, it had devastating impacts should a reactor melt-down occurred. Thus the production of Magnemite began, synthetic biological organisms created using the left-over research of the Porygon Project. Hardly ever thought of as sentient, Magnemite were created to perform specific task sets. Most commonly, to collect energy from electrical generators and storing and/or transferring said energy to larger batteries. They were efficient, fed on energy and relatively low maintenance. Erin's run in with his friend Buzzer opened his eyes to the fact that potential synthetic Pokemon experienced sentience and emotion as well, no matter how little it was. With Buzzer, this seemed drastically apparent. The metal sphere was always intently staring at new things, drinking in the information and buzzing when satisfied. All this was explained to the girl in a fashion to which made it sound the boy thought he was better than her intellectually. "You have a Lapras somehow and judging by your character and immediate mannerisms, that may have been a mistake." Patting the large blue reptoid on the side, he turned back to the girl and spoke before walking away. "Take care of it. Don't abuse its intellect." He felt the deep thoughts emanating from the girl's Lapras. It was extraordinary the mental prowess of Pokemon.

Val was half paying attention to the long, scientific story the boy was telling her. She was definitely interested in the science and history of it all, but she had no interest in being treated like she wasn't as good as him. Throughout most of it she would stare off into the distance, pretending not to listen. She would play with stray strands of hair or adjust various straps on her bag just to seem disinterested. When the speech finally came to its end, Val looked off in another direction, attempting to avoid any kind of direct eye contact. That attempt was broken when she noticed Erin say something about Lapras being a mistake for her. While she believed it, it wasn't something she would readily admit. It was more of a hidden insecurity. It felt like the professor was teaser her by matching her with it. Then came the cherry on top.
"Don't abuse its intellect."
Val's eyes shot open. She reared her head back in disgust as her face grew sour. So many thoughts swirling through her head brought to a definitive halt by a simple comment. She had no clue how to respond, only managing to spit a few profanities. Once Erin had walked away, she circled around her Pokemon to rest on its shell. It looked back, letting out a soft coo.
"Poor kid," she started, clearly beginning a short rant to both boost her own self confidence and tear down the previous stranger, "only friend is a flying metal eyeball. Probably gets off to the electric shocks." Val let out a quick sigh of air. These bits were truly an excellent way for her to deal with anger. She could take anything that made her angry, sad, or whatever mix of emotions and turn it into whatever she wanted. In this case (and most others), humor.
[[not sure if Erin will be turning around/leaving/battling/idk, but if he won't be around I'd like to request an event c:]]

Grace and Syrus watched as carefully as they could in that situation for the result of their efforts. Perhaps it was shock, or perhaps it had given up, but it appeared that the small bug pokemon had all but lost its battling spirit just moments before the attack. It was a child after all, at least according to the pokedex. Maybe they had forgotten that amidst all the loud attacking. Syrus searched through his backpack for something to help. A canteen, a map, some pokeballs, but not what he was looking for. No berries to be found to make a dessert and make it all better. He had told himself earlier that he would find some, but it turns out that he would need them too late. Syrus and Grace walked over to the tiny kricketot, who was actually not much shorter than Grace herself. He offered a hand to the small pokemon, hoping to help it feel better. After all, he had specifically wanted to avoid violence against such a tiny guy in the first place. Grace also walked close enough to offer support, smiling lightly and extending an arm.

Kaiser Approximate Capture Chance 26% or 13/50Capture Failed 46% Health RemainingThe ball shook violently before exploding open. The Fenniken wasn't quite finished yet though it wasn't of any use so disoriented. It stumbled and fell into the dirt, coughing and wheezing as the poison took its toll. Determination was quickly replaced by fear and any shadow that came too close was a potential target for incineration. It seemed now like a battle for survival how hard this Fenniken was fighting back.
The professor edged forth in an attempt to grab the Pokemon but upon detection, he was met with a burn on his arm by the stray flames. This Pokemon was too panicked to capture by hand and it didn't have a Pokeball as of yet having not been registered in the PSS. It would be up to this child to either catch or subdue the Pokemon long enough for the scientists to bring it back to the lab. If neither of the former were done, the fox would succumb to the poison and perish. So lies the true nature of battles. If the trainer could indeed catch the Pokemon, the Pokeball would place it under a suspended animation and thus prevent the poison from spreading. But the duo had to act fast. Conor shrugged as he saw the pokeball open and releasing the Fennekin, even when Poisoned it wasn't weak enough to be captured, he needed to weaken it even more in oder to attempt to capture again, else it would seem the Fennekin would not resist the poison. As he turned to Stunky to give orders he saw Prof. Rowan getting closer to the Fennekin only to recieve a burn on his arm, clearly the Fennekin was not going to allow to be dragged back to the lab. Conor looked at Stunky, he knew his pokemon was tired but if the Fennekin wsa not caught it would likely die due to Poison and he couldn't let that happen "ok Stunky, go and Scratch it with all your might, we need to weaken it enough to catch it!" the young trainer said. Stunky nodded and as before he used Focus Energy before running towards the terrified fox in an attempt to land a Scrath to weaken it enough to be caught. As Stunky ran towards the pokemon, Conor took the pokeball and prepared to throw it at the small fox if and when Stunky's attack succeeded which hpefully would deal enough damage to the fox to not be able to fight the pokeball and get caught. Catch attempt, again.Stunky's nature is Mild

Torque released yet another burst of thick black smoke in response to seeing how well the attack went through. He was normally so calm and relaxed, but once he become motivated, he was quite the battler. Yumi did admit to herself that Torque's speed would be a problem, So she would have to pick and choose Torque's opponents better in the future.
The wingull seemed discouraged at this point. The attacking one had gone away at this point, and it seemed like the boss had been poisoned at this point. It was fatigued, getting worse by the second thanks to the smoke and smog. It was common knowledge that movement increased circulation, specifically of the tainted blood. With this, flying would be too risky. The boss had landed on a branch up high. It peered down at Yumi and her pokemon, almost condescendingly. "So how izzit now?" Yumi was back to ranting. "You try to gang up on us and this is what you get. We ain't scared of ya!" She taunted. Yumi pondered walking away or continuing. At this point, it was just attacking a wounded pokemon, even if it mad her angry. But she did want to finish the fight. It took some thinking, but she decided to let it go.
She sighed. "Come on, Torque. We've fallen behind as it is." Yumi and her Torkoal walked away slowly, Yumi slowing down to givve her slow pokemon a chance to catch up. "Think we've proved our point."

Approximate Capture Chance
54% or 27/50
A r o n C a p t u r e d Quirky Nature No Gains or Losses in Stats Bio: This Aron was born in the softer soils of the meadows within the main route. Its parents, a pair of Lairon, were on their forced migration as the mountains to the West this time of year teemed with strong trainers bent on strengthening their Pokemon and travel the infamous Victory Road. To avoid capture, many Lairon, Aron and even the rare Aggron migrated down the mountain faces and into the forests where they could hide it out. During this time, the egg of this particular Aron was laid. However, instead of hatching at the end of the League season, Aron hatched much much later. By the time it hatched, the rest of its species had already made the arduous trip back up the mountain face to feast on its ore deposits. Here on the lower levels of the forest, iron ore wasn't plentiful in its traditional form. So, in the face of starvation, this Aron learned to detect that passing humans sometimes carried delicious balls of Iron and would pillage them. Yoori sighed dramatically, picking up the Pokéball and releasing her new companion. Aron shook her body, turning to Scraggy with a confused expression at what had just occurred as she sniffed the ground like a tiny metal puppy. Scraggy continued to huddle behind Yoori as she scanned Aron with a Pokédex, curious about what she had just gotten. "Aron, the Iron Armor Pokémon," began the Pokédex, "This Pokémon has a body of steel. To make its body, Aron feeds on iron ore that it digs from mountains. Occasionally, it causes major trouble by eating bridges and rails." With that information in mind, Yoori looked the Aron over, scrolling to her stats and moveset. "Huh, SmellingSalts. I don't think that's legal," she mused, but shrugged in response. "Well, little guy, you're mine now. We'll need to figure out what to do with that leg of yours, but isn't it ironic that you're missing a leg and I'm missing parts of my pancreas." Scraggy scoffed, understanding the sarcastic nuance, but Aron only tilted her head, more confused than ever. As Yoori began to leave, she watched from afar as a boy with a Stunky tried taking down a feisty Fennekin, and a few strides before her, a girl was sitting atop a much-tinier Lapras and muttering. Both didn't seem to want to be disturbed, so Yoori began to move on instead, content with being alone. Event, please!

speshalThe boy wandered off in the direction of the next town but seemed to have chosen the road less traveled sticking to the forest rather than the beaten path. The forest itself seemed pristine. The untouched wilderness settled like a comforting thicket around the path on which everyone was traveling. Berries were ripe for the picking and the sounds of Pokemon of every kind emanated in hollowed echoes. However, there was something out of place, something that didn't belong here. It started as an annoyance, a faint tickle in the back of one's throat, that kind that made you cough every once in a while. With a gust of wind, a steeping scent burned through the atmosphere before it became nauseating. Long before the thing wandered out onto the path, its smell permeated the air, cutting through the freshness like a foul knife. As it walked, its body made a sloshing sound mixed with... cans? It was strange for sure. Out of the right side of the path, a Trubbish waddled out. A sentient series of coalesced waste, it was scavenging the trail for discarded material. Paper wrappers, plastic bottles, anything really that it could find it was eating. Sure it probably kept the roads clean but it wasn't a Pokemon typically out here in the wilderness. They were more seen in busy cities among the landfills and trash filled alley ways. It hadn't particularly noticed the trainer but it didn't really care either. Its stench kept most things far away enough to not be considered a threat. If anyone passed by, it would simply walk around the other side of the path until they passed. MizumantaFriendship Failed : 3/10The tiny insect screeched in fear producing a little kickback of noise and swatted its minuscule forelimbs at the boy and his Pokemon. Memory wasn't its strong point and as far as it knew, it was attacked without provocation and no ability to defend. It cowered on the ground covering its vulnerabilities and curling into a tight ball hoping that they would go away. KaiserApproximate Capture Chance 30% or 3/10 Capture Successful 36% Health Remaining The ball wriggled once, then twice and finally thrice before emitting a shower of sparks signifying a successful capture. mizuyukiRun Attempt Successful Pokemon in the immediate vicinity however are scarce due to the commotion and smoke. dracoonThe commotion of the forest was great. Nearby creatures had to flee deeper into the forest to escape the newbie trainers and so the forest was becoming scarce with life. Nevertheless, that didn't mean that action was far from the scene. A rugged looking trainer, someone who reeked of the camping life trudged his way away from the starter town and down the path. He wore khaki everything it seemed, like he was out due for a safari tour or something and his hat was ornamented with various teeth from different species of Pokemon. He had seen the nearby trainers but decided none of them to be a challenge; that is, until he witnessed the capture of that Aron. He hastily walked towards the girl and stuck out his hand. "Ello. Me name's Bronnie. Your's love?" Formalities aside, his accent was thick and foreign, most likely from a far away region. "Saw that scuffle there. Quite the skiff." Before anyone could comment, he explained. "From Almia, waaaay yonder." He made a point in a random direction as truthfully the overcast prevented him from indicating his position. "Up for a skiff with me?" Eagerly he took off his hat and flipped it over. His Pokeballs were clipped to mounts underneith.

"Almia, huh?" Yoori stuck out a haughty hand, before turning on her heel a little to gesture in the distance, "The name's Leo. I come from Couriway, Kalos. I took a bit to get here, but here I am." The girl barely hesitated in lying- two could play the game of trying to be exotic. As the man removed his hat to reveal his Pokéballs, requesting a 'skiff' with her, Yoori watched with a smug grin, before she closed her eyes and nodded once. "Sure, why not?" she responded, and Scraggy strode forth with a swagger, emboldened by his owner's laid-back response. Human battles should be easier than wild ones, thought the tiny lizard, thinking back on how easily Yoori had won battles with rental Pokémon back in Kiloude. (If records carried over, Yoori would have a lot of Battle Points, but this was a story for another day.)
To be honest, Yoori did respect campers and rangers to some degree, considering how weak and fragile people automatically assumed she would be. What better way was there to spend the days outside by camping and hiking? Aron waddled to Yoori's side, sniffing her shins in curiosity as Scraggy held his skin trousers and lowered his head, already ready to battle.

"Hmph..." Yumi scofed. " I start out my journey with just the worst luck." She was walking with her torkoal, who as usual, was slowing her down . If it was a person, she might have minded. "Enough of these water types," Yumi grew a wide grin. "Let's get a dragon type or something." Yumi was always obsessed with powerful looking pokemon. Those that intimidated, those that could fight well. Torkoal fired off a bit of smoke that sounded off like a whistle. Yumi turned to see what torkoal was looking at. In the distance, a boy was ahead of him, apparently trying to run from from some tiny pokemon. It didn't look like it was in fear, but either way, he wanted to leave. "Think he has any leads on a pokemon like what we are looking for, Torque?" Torque nodded. "Alright, let's go."

"Oh boy..." Syrus sighed, a little disappointed. It seemed that he would not be able to leave on good terms like he had hoped. Grace loked just as disapointed, backing away slowly. "Well..." Syrus began. " we didnt resort too much on violence..." Syrus did not want to be seen as bad. But there were always going to be pokemon that he wouldnt be able to communicate well with. It was bound to happen. "well, It doesnt look like things are going to progress past this. " He turned to ralts. "Let's leave the poor thing alone." Syrus and Grace backed away from the seemingly preoccupied pokemon. While backing slowly, Syrus could see a small stream of smoke. It looked like a pokemon and its trainer were behind it. He wanted to talk to her, but he would have to get away first.
Run attempt? (I am assuming it will work since Ralts now has run away through Trace) Will edit if needed.
After getting a safe distance away, Syrus and Grace sat down in the grass to rest. "That...was an ordeal." It seemed that they still had some training to do if what the pokedex identified as a baby could give them so much trouble. Enough training should prove fruitful through.

"Oi! " yumi ran up to the boy who was sitting in the grass. She was a peeved that there were people ahead of her. It just made her fight with all the wingull that much more frustrating. "I saw you from before. Im new here so-" her words were halted by the sound of her pokemon stumbling up the hill. "Oh, this os Torque, my partner." She her hand up to wave. "How about we travel to the next town togother? It will make things easier too" she was of course talking about the frustrating fact that she and her pokemkn werent yet ready to take on pokemon of superior typing. She hoped he would say yes, and hoped he had a bunch of powerful pokemon. After all, powerful pokemkn attract powerful pokemon.

Syrus quickly stood up, bowing briefly before returning the greeting. "I am Syrus, and this is Grace, my partner pokemon." Grace bowed slightly as well. from that height, her eyes could not be seen. "We are just heading to Jubilife, but we had a bit of a setback." Syrus could see behind the trainer as a smokey pokemon walked slowly over. He barely recognized the pokemon as a torkoal, only really seen on television programs at his house. "It is nice to meet you.
"How about we travel to the next town togother? It will make things easier too" The young woman asked.
"Umm..." Syrus thought for a bit. He wanted to spend some time with his pokemon, but he might run into something that he couldnt handle yet. The pokemon found so far was on the weaker side and still gave him and Grace plenty of trouble. She seemed strong too, stronger than him anyway. Maybe it was her confidence that he admired, or perhaps the nonchalant pokemon that sat beside her. "I suppose we could go together if you would like." Grace looked up. It was hard to tell if she was really as invested in this coupling. "Alright then." He looked behind him in the direction of the city. It shouldnt be that far, he supposed. "Alright, should we go? I bet we will have a lot to talk about." Syrus began walking in the opposite direction, hoping the young woman would follow, as would be expected by someone who wanted to travel with him. He tried to look confident like her, though he as a bit nervous to attempt to impress this stranger.

Conor watched in awe as the pokeball shook, both he and Stunky remained silent until the ball stood still. "yeah!" Conor yelled excited, he had caught his first pokemon and it was a Fire Type, one of his favourites. The boy moved towards the pokeball and taking it from the ground he turned to the panting Stunky "we did it Stunky!" he said smiling to the panting skunk who would've passed out if Conor wouldn't have returned him to his pokeball. Conor turned around, he had forgotten he had a sort of audience. He looked at Prof. Rowan who was still resenting from his burned arm, and with concern he couldn't hide in his voice he asked "so, I guess I have to return this to you?" he asked. The pokemon professor only smiled "do not worry, it was running from the lab because it hated being there anyway, so perhaps it would be best with you" he said as he inspected his arm.
The man signaled to his assistants to return to the lab as he spoke a few more words to the new trainer "just make sure you take good care of it as well as with any other pokemon you catch" he said turning around. Conor smiled and placed Fennekin's pokeball with Stunky's "you could start by getting it healed form the poison" Prof. Rowan said from the distance as he and his tema dissapeared. "oh yeah, the poison, and Stunky could use some rest to" Conor said to himself. Making sure all his stuff were properly arranged in his backpack, Conor made his way to the Pokemon Center where he gave both his pokeballs to Nurse Joy to have both his pokemon healed. It didn't take long for her to return with the pokemon fully recovered and as soon as he was ready he left the Center and passed by the PokeMart buying some food for him and his pokemon. Once he was done he decided to resume his journey and knowing that Route 201 would only lead to a dead end, a lake with no known connections to other areas, at least not known to him, and on Route 219 he figured he could find some Water Type pokemon which at this point would be a suicide for his team, he decided to check Route 202 and resume his journey.
After about an hour of walking, Conor decided to rest, taking his chance to get to know his new Fennekin, plus, being far from other people would minimize any possible harm it could do to others. Conor released both his pokemon and while Stunky wandered around sniffing everything like he used to, Fennekin only stood still, sitting infront of the boy and looking at him, Conor worried but taking his pokedex he inspected the small fox, getting some more info on the Fennekin, it was a Female Fennekin and of Rash nature which would explain why it acted the way it did when he found it. He also realized the move it used was Fire Pledge, a really powerful Fire Type move that only a few "starter" pokemon could learn. Conor smiled, well Fennekin, I guess you're stronger that I thought he said to the fox who only turned around, inspecting the area before its ears twitched, it had detected something on the nearby area, and apparently Stunky did as well since it was facing in the same direction Fennekin was.

"Hold up, hold up." Yumi raised her voice to make her opinion clear. "I think we gotta battle first." She could already tell her words might be misconstrued. "I dont know you that well and the best way to bond and get to know someone us through a battle right?" She was honestly just repeating what she had been told from others. "You have pokemon just like me. Lets go."
Yumi backed up a bit to make room for her torkoal. "Alright, i dont feel like going back to the pokemon center, so we are gonna stop before things get too hairy, alright?" Yumi mentally prepared herself with a brief deep breath. "Ready or not, here i come! Torkoal, smog!" Torque blew out a purple shot of smoke towards tge ralts. It was concentrated enough to not dissipate as quickly as expected.

"Eh, What?!" Syrus flailed a bit with the rush of action. He didnt think he would have to fight again so soon. "Umm i'm not sure if-" He was cute off by her further declaration of battle. She seemed pretty sure of herself that she would win, at least through her attitude. "If we battle, you have to promise that it wont get too rough. I just really want to get to the next city." He looked to Grace. "I'm sure we can do it. We are showing her who we are. Let's give it our best." Grace stepped forward, her skin seeming to glow, undoubtedly her Trace ability. Her skin appeared to become hard, though it was hard to tell with no change in color or rigidness. It seemed like something within her defenses went up. It wasnt long before they had an attack coming at them. A smog attack, it seemed, which was surprising to see since Syrus had only seen the attack come from a poison type pokemon. He was sure Torkoal wasnt one of those, but it might put things to his advantage. "Grace, Confusion!" Grace's eyes glowed briefly before pushing out an invisible force of energy. Pushing away dust and dirt in the air, it was just barely revealed its trajectory. The smog scattered to a thin layer and eventually dispersed into the air. It may have been due to the fact that poison type moves were weak to psychic attacks that the attack didnt go through. "Sorry to dissapoint you, but for now, that is my buddy's only attack. I suppose we can repeat it to show you a better example. Grace!" Grace once again shot a wave of energy at the torkoal. the grass underneath showed the path. "Show us your defenses please."
