"Ow ow ow!" Lennox said as a nearby bush scratched the surface of his skin. "Maybe shorts weren't the way to go for a journey." His voice showed a bit of sadness. Lennox had trouble making decisions, and when he did he usually saw them as the wrong choice. It wasn't that he couldn't decide out of fear. He simply over thought situation, including every variable possible before making the decision. Often, he is too impatient to make a detailed plan, as this had taken hours in the past. He was working on it. Making concise decisions while still thinking things through would be a challenge.
Len walked through more bushes to get to the other side of the route. His shortcut was more 'cut' than 'short'. Lennox's morning had been hectic from the moment he left the house. His mother called him multiple times, insisting that he write her as often as possible. She was clearly overprotective, but he couldn't change her mind with simple words. Lennox knew that he would have to show her by being a success. A successful trainer, a successful coordinator...something.
Finally getting back on the sidewalk, Len could focus on his destination, the professor's lab. He had gone by it before, but had never really gotten inside. Normally, trainers become trainers at the young age of ten, but his mother had made it her mission to protect him from interactions with pokemon, leaving him to only really see them on television or from friends who had long since started their journey.
He was getting closer now, and the reflection from the shiny building caught his eye, causing him to squint. It was like a sign from above to not go in. But what if that wasn't the right choice? What if it was a test, divine or otherwise? Lennox let out a groan. He'd have to push through anyway. The only thing left behind him was being stuck in a house with his mother. The boy took a few steps forward, these seemingly earth shaking with confidence, and opened the doors to the professor's building.

Palia gave a slight laugh at the fact he seemed embarrassed to be caught talking about others pokemon. “It’s fine, you know. You have to size up the competition.” She said as she leaned back a bit so he could give Ellie a scratch, who hopped off her shoulder and in to her lap. She planned to do the same, size up the other starters and see who had experience training and who didn’t. As Riley introduced himself and his little Starly, she reached over and gave the pokemon a few little scratches on the head. “It’s nice to meet you two. Pepper looks like she’s eager to start adventuring with you!” She said before continuing to scratch Pepper’s head lightly for a moment more. “I suppose I am lucky with this one! She has tons of possibilities ahead of her, for sure. We’ll just have to see which path we end up taking to see where it leads her.” She said as Ellie barked in agreement.
“What are you goals for your journey?” Palia asked as she watched a few trainers make it out of the lab while the other two continued to bumble through a battle. She supposed she should get a move on sooner or later, but there was always time to sit and chat with others.

Riley had never actually planned out any specific goals. Normally the people who asked this sort of question were adults so he could just give some generic response that would make anyone proud. It wasn't as easy with people his age. "I guess... I don't know completely. I just want to be a Pokemon Trainer and see where it takes me. It's something I'm interested in, and wherever I end up I'll be happy. And yourself?"
Riley had also wanted to get a move on, but did not want to rush away from the Palia. If she offered to travel together for a while and continue the conversation on the road, he would happily agree.

She didn’t have any set main goals for this journey, and was more just curious if others had clear cut goals as well. She’d had defined goals in Kalos which was to challenge the Elite Four and champion, but here she was just...not sold on that idea. “I’m just up for exploring this region and seeing what it has to offer.” She said with a slight sigh as she watched a few more trainers trail in, some looking like they were running late and rushed over, while others left. Ellie wiggled in her lap, looking like she was anxious to leave as well. “I suppose we should get going soon, huh…” She said aloud, half to herself and half to Riley. “Hey! What do you say we travel together for a little while? It’ll be nice to have some company.” Palia stood up as Ellie leaped back on her shoulder. “I guess that’s where you’re gonna stay, huh?” She whispered to the pokemon as she pulled out her belt which was loaded with clips for pokeballs, buckling it around her waist. She took a golden flower-shaped clip and pulled her bangs back to ready herself for the journey.

"Sure! Yeah! That sounds like a great idea," he said, stepping away from the wall. Although he was resting, it was a relief to move due to the position it had placed his backpack. Without thinking to wait, Riley continued on out the door. He assumed that Palia and Ellie would follow him and Pepper to the next route. The surrounding forest was a bit overwhelming. There was so much movement and so much to look out for. Every bush and every tree was moving whether it be by the wind or some sort of wildlife. It was intriguing yet completely terrifying. Such a new environment to someone raised in a town so disconnected from the whole "Pokemon adventure" business. At the official entrance to the route he stopped to see if Palia was caught up to him.

A lone Sandile was seen watching the Bronzor intensely. The small crocodile seemed freshly hatched, peeking out from a hole made in the ground and watching Sanvi and Bronzor. "Dile?" he questioned, burrowing closer to the Trainer before popping out under their feet and pulling at their pants in an attempt to trip them over. As he pulled and pulled, Sandile had conveniently forgotten about the existence of Bronzor entirely- and also the fact that Levitate would prevent him from even landing a hit. It was no matter to the young and playful Pokémon, eagerly trying to attract attention of the human with his tiny prank. Sandile male, level 3 found. Bronzor, of course, saw the Sandile the moment he had poked his head out from his hole. It looked back at its Trainer - should it give some kind of warning? would they want one? surely they could see it by themselves? - but the few seconds of hesitation cost it: the Sandile was now pulling at the bottoms of Savi's strange black second skin.
Meanwhile, Savi suddenly found themselves very grateful that they weren't wearing sweatpants. Imagine having my pants pulled down in front of these Trainers, they thought with a suppressed grimace. What a reputation to carry, right from the first day. That aside, activity on the route was picking up faster than they'd thought it would: any dilly-dallying, and Savi would be stuck behind a horde of eager beaver Trainers.
"Hi there," Savi said to the Sandile, and squatted down to give the Pokémon a scan with their Dex. "Did you want something? Are you cold?" On impulse, they reached out to pat the Sandile very lightly on his head - but was that better or worse than the awkward customer service tone they'd been putting on? And why had the Sandile approached them like that anyway? Savi's shoulders and legs tensed up, preparing them to flee or fight if needed.

To Lennox the latecomer, Oak merely grinned and directed him to his bag where the essentials were already held. The balls inside had their choices clearly labeled- 'Klefki', 'Azurill' and 'Cranidos'. Oak innerly mused at how the fossil Pokémon had ended in the mix, but waited patiently for more latecomers to stream in as he continued slotting starter choices into various bags. ---- Devon
Pachirisu coughed, feeling threatened and blinded by the toxic fumes the Magby was letting off. Terrified, the small squirrel began to gather up energy in a Bide attack. Any physical contact Magby would subsequently made would be rebounded by the enduring Pachirisu, and she clutched her berry tightly while squeezing her eyes shut. The Pachirisu began to glow slightly from the move, and it was up to Devon now to decide his next course of action. ---- Savi
"Dile?" Sandile tilted his head in confusion as the person touched him on the head. Though he didn't understand what the person was trying to tell him, the way they had touched him was nice. The Sandile climbed out of the hole, nudging closer to the person's outstretched petting hand as if to tell them to do it more. The small sand crocodile did not seem to quite have the notion of danger or noticed the Bronzor hovering protectively around Savi at all. All he was preoccupied with was how nice the petting had felt against his cool scales.

Lennox was invited in to look around, but quickly spotted the professor and made his way forward. There were no words, simply a guide to a few pokeballs to choose from. With such concise movements, he probably had done this countless times today. Lennox awkwardly walked over to the bag, examining the pokeballs. He hadn't heard of the names of the pokemon before. He was better with faces than anything else. While choosing, Len heard a sound from one of the pokeballs. It was like the jingling of wind chimes. The calming sound was enough to convince him to pick the ball marked 'klefki'. He was hesitant to speak up, but worked up the courage to talk to the professor. "I'll...take this one please."

Devon stared at the Pachirisu, while Magby awaited for an order, it was wierd for a pokemon who seemed so eager to battle to stay there and do nothing. The boy took out his pokedex and pointed it at the squirrel to have a description of the move Bide it read, explaining how the pokemon would store energy from atatcks recieved and release it all in one huge blow. "well that is troublesome" he said to himself, but on the other hand, it only meant he should avoid any proper physical contact and given Magby's current movepool, it was not going to be hard, none of his current moves needed him to even be close to his foe to hurt them. "ok Magby, backoff a few feet and then release an Ember attack!" the boy shouted. Magby nodded and while backin off after he told him to rush forward didn't sounded all that reasonable to him, he followed, after all, Devon seemed to know more about battles than he did. One Magby was about three feet away from his previous position, he let loose the fire from his mouth towards the static Pachirisu. A long and hot flame sprouted from Magby's ducklike mouth towards the electric squirrel, hopefully enough to damage the pokemon without needing Magby to come closer.

Lennox picked up the pokeball, causing it to lightly jingle once again. Accidentally pushing the button in the middle, the pokeball burst open in a familiar light. As his vision focused a fit, Len saw a floating pokemon. It was small and looked light. It had a tiny face that looked as though the features like the eyes and mouth were hallow. It also had what looked like a key above itself and a ring with more keys below. The small pokemon quickly rushed down and snatched up the house key that Len had around his waist. It opened up the ring, which now made them look like arms, and attached the key, adding the metal object to its collection. The professor offered a town map, a pokedex, and a bag of pokeballs, most likely a starter pack of some sort. The small pokemon cheered and flew around Lennox's head in joy. It must have really wanted to go. Lennox thanked the professor, bowing a bit as he was taught by his mother, and left the laboratory. Going through the bag, the new young trainer took out his pokedex and inserted his name. In addition, it seemed that it created an official profile for him! Len pointed the pokedex at his pokemon and listened to the automated message. "Klefki, the key ring pokemon. These key collectors threaten any attackers by fiercely jingling their keys at them. It never lets go of a key that it likes, so people give it the keys to vaults and safes as a way to prevent crime." Lennox chuckled to himself. "That's adorable. It's nice to meet you, klefki!" The small pokemon smiled and danced around Lennox's head. "Your moves are...tackle...slef explanitory. You also have fairy wind! I've seen that used in contests before! and you have a move called...fairy lock? It keeps other pokemon from escaping? That's awesome!" Lennox looked through some more. "It says here, becuase of your ability, Magician, you can steal items when you physically attack them. Just like my keys, huh?" Len laughed allowed as he talked to his pokemon. " According to this type match up chart, you are a pretty defensive pokemon." He scrolled through the types that his klefki resisted and those that it was immune frome. "You're a tough litle pokemon, huh?" His usual indecisiveness seemed less evident now. "I can't wait to start our adventure together!" Beginning again from where he had started, Lennox made it to a grassy area just outside of the town. "I'm pretty sure this is where we start off" he said, a little hessitant. "But good trainers usually train and catch other pokemon. What do you say, klefki?" The key ring pokemon cheered again and jingled its keys, following Lennox into the tall grass. Event please^^

All he was preoccupied with was how nice the petting had felt against his cool scales. Apparently petting the Sandile had been the right move after all. Some of the tension drained from Savi's limbs as they continued petting him, encouraged by the Pokémon's little nudges. But Bronzor still hovered a foot away, ready to Tackle the living daylights out of the Sandile should he try anything. You couldn't be too sure - younger Pokémon got into all sorts of mischief all the time, even when they didn't intend to. Little more than strangers they might be, but Bronzor wasn't about to let its Trainer get hurt this early into their journey. "Are you hungry, maybe?" Savi asked with another affectionate pat on the Sandile's head. That reminded them: they hadn't eaten yet themselves today, unless you counted that handful of cornflakes and a glass of Pinap Berry juice. "Hold on - " From their messenger bag, they pulled out a small package wrapped in silver foil, which turned out to be a few beef-stuffed empanadas squashed together. Savi tore one in half and handed a piece each to Sandile and Bronzor. "Enjoy - you might not get a chance to have these again for a while."

The Mienfoo and his trainer finished their little pep talk and Yoonhee seemed to indicate to Finn that they were ready. However, the first thing her Pokemon did was to stop and begin to meditate. Not realizing this was an attack and a good strategy to aide the foe in battle, Finn was thoroughly confused, as was Rory. The Turtwig cocked his head and stood dumbfounded. But before they were ready to ask if this was a forfeit of some kind, the Mienfoo began to charge forward, fist raised and balled up for a Pound.
Rory was surprised at the sudden movement of his opponent and fought a paralyzing fear as he quickly scuttled to the side, trying to side-step awkwardly. Failing miserably at this tactic and losing precious time, the Turtwig eventually decided, against the worried, nervous whimpering of his trainer, to change up his tactic. "Tuuuurrrr..." the Pokemon began as he lowered his head, scuffed at the ground with a stubby leg, and kicked up a flurry of pebbles from the hard terrain as he charged forward himself, preparing to meet the Mienfoo halfway - Pound against Tackle. "...twiiiigg!" the Tiny Leaf Pokemon finished as he stormed forward, readying himself and tightening his muscles to try and make a big impact and barrel the foe over. ---- Lennox
As Lennox and his Klefki continued in the grassy area, a loud scrambling could be heard from the bushes. Moments later, two wailing creatures emerged. One was a bright yellow, plump duck Pokemon and the other was a small, scuttling bug covered in a cloak of leaves. But the tremors coming from the bushes did not stop as they emerged, yelling loudly and running quickly on stubby appendages. Following behind, slowly but surely and with quaking footsteps, a thunderous purple and white creature covered in a thick fur coat stepped toward the group. The Psyduck and Burmy quickly scampered behind Lennox's feet, trying to urge the trainer to protect them, hoping he was strong. The Skuntank pursuing the pair hissed and stamped her feet furiously in response, threatening to fight if she had to.
Psyduck, female, level 5 found. Burmy, female, level 1 found. Skuntank, female, level 30 found.

Lennox and klefki were surprised to find pokemon jumping out of hiding to be seen. Oddly enough, they were coming towards him. A small yellow pokemon that was undoubtedly a psyduck as he had seen on television, and an odd green bug pokemon covered in leaves. He prepared to fight, as nervous as he was, but the two instead hid behind him. Len and Klefki looked forward to what appeared to be a large poison type pokemon. He wasn't entirely sure, but the purple body sort of gave it away. With his newly acquired pokedex, Len made an attempt to check it out. "Skuntank, the Skunk pokemon. It sprays a stinky fluid from its tail. The fluid smells worse the longer it is allowed to fester." Len looked through the dex more, revealing he was right about its typing. Lennox held his shirt over his nose. It stunk as well. This wasn't his ideal first pokemon encounter. Looking down at the cowering pokemon, Lennox decided that he had to at least try to help. Looking at klefki and nodding, klefki also readied itself to fight. "Please don't think less of us for doing this" Lennox began. "But we can't let you harm these pokemon!" Klefki floated forward, ready to battle. "Since I've already seen how this is done on television, how about you show me your own 'fairy wind!'" Klefki jingled its keys as it spun into the air to gain momentum. As it came down, a strong gust of sparkling pink wind somehow burst out from the area near its keys. The wind swirled beautifully as it moved towards the opposing pokemon.

Lennox
The Skuntank snarled viciously and pawed at the ground, raking sharp claws into the dirt and clenching each individual digit. The hairy purple creature glared at her prey and the ones that were now making an effort to protect the delicious wild Pokemon that would be her lunch. The striped Skunk Pokemon yowled loudly as her opponent, a floating loop that looked highly artificial and was dangling some shiny metallic objects. The foe was unrecognizable to the Skuntank but the wild Pokemon was still unafraid as it seemed weak. Not eager to battle a trainer but knowing that it had taken her long enough to chase after the Psyduck and Burmy already and not wanting to have wasted her time, the wild foe snarled and made up her mind to proceed with the battle. The Klefki had started things out by whipping up a swirling, sparkling Fairy Wind attack. Not eager to find out what would happen if the attack were allowed to strike, the Skuntank barrel-rolled out of the way, dodging nimbly and then stood back up on all four legs, smirking confidently. The dual Poison and Dark type creature narrowed her dark pupils as she prepped the noxious fumes she contained within the tip of her tail, letting them bubble and secrete a strong odor as she continued to allow the attack to become more nauseating and effective. In the meantime, however, the wild Skuntank decide to buy time by obscuring herself. She could see well enough in the dark but hoped the same was not true for the mysterious opponent, as she opened her mouth wide and began to spew a thick black fog across the grassy area from herself to Lennox and the cowering prey and twice as wide across. With any luck, the SmokeScreen would bewilder the foes and give the Skunk Pokemon an advantage.

ND had gotten out hus journal as soon as hu saw the Mienfoo charge. Although hu originally wanted to watch first, write second, hu felt it was imperative to get down hus feelings as soon as they occurred. However, all hu was able to write were a few dazed lines.
It has become apparent that perhaps this redheaded male does not know as much about pokémon as I originally believed. Interestingly enough, his pokémon has changed tactics without help from the male. I take this to mean that they are able to think for themselves and can decide their own battle strategies. What will Isaac do in a fight?
Thus, having taken hus eyes off of the battle to write, hu missed much of what actually happened. Shrugging to humself, hu turned to the Budew and studied him. The little pokémon was swaying side to side and smiling, and when he felt the pressure of ND’s eyes, he looked up at hu from the bag. ------ Isaac looked at his trainer with sparkles in his eyes. There was no one better than his trainer. He was sure of it. Only his trainer was smart enough to take the time to watch others. However, his trainer didn’t seem to know what to do with Isaac. So Isaac decided to give his trainer some help. ------ ND’s pokémon suddenly jumped out of the worn bad and onto ND’s lap. “Budew,” he said sternly. Somehow, ND got the feeling that Isaac was tired of sitting there watching others. And ND found humself trusting the little pokémon.
“Okay,” hu told Isaac. “Where do you want to go?” Hu looked around and noticed other disappearing into the tall grass, so hu stood up, holding on to Isaac, and also made hus way into the greenery.
