After a little while of waiting outside of the lab for the new trainers to emerge with whatever they had chosen, Riley realized that many of them weren't leaving. Actually, there were no trainers that left. He slowly approached the doors, unsure of what would be holding everyone inside. Once he approached the door he could begin hearing the commotion inside. Something was happening and he was missing it. He walked through the doors and walked closer to the crowd, careful not to stand too close as to draw any attention from the trainers around him. Riley wasn't quite comfortable battling with his new Pokemon yet. It seemed better to wait until the Starly was exposed to a battle with wild Pokemon or something before forcing it to battle a trainer's Pokemon.
Once he felt that he had found the right spot to stay out of the way, Riley began observing the various Pokemon that had been chosen. He scanned each with his Pokedex and read them back to himself.
"Bronzor, Magby, Mienfoo, Turtwig, and Budew. All decent Pokemon, but there are some clear losers in the bunch," he stated quietly, hoping the other trainers would not hear. It wasn't that these Pokemon were necessarily bad, it was just that Riley didn't like them. They were all interesting in their own respects, though. The Bronzor would eventually become a Bronzong, which was a really cool Pokemon. Magby would become Magmar or Magmortar, which was extremely fascinating to Riley. Mienfoo didn't have much aside from the extreme toughness to appeal to Riley. The look of the Pokemon didn't interest him much, but the personality and fighting style did. Turtwig was pretty cool to him as well. A giant tree turtle was always a great addition to a team. Then, the Budew. Aside from the evolutionary concept of "bigger flower monster hurts more", it was interesting to Riley. Most saw the Pokemon as feminine, but he saw it as elegant. Again, quietly so no one could hear, he recanted his previous statement.

The girl in the yellow dress walked rather loudly along the dirt path that lead up the hill to Professor Oak's laboratory. Her brown boots kicked up clouds of dust as she dragged her feet rather tiredly. Her braid swayed back and forth with each step, and it would slap against her shoulder each time it made its way to the other side. Eventually she grew tired of this and threw the thick mass of hair over her shoulder to the front. She grunted loudly as she had to work harder to move up the steepening hill. When she finally reached the top and was not far from the lab she decided to sit down in the grass. The girl had been walking for quite a while to get here and she felt she deserved a break.
Madeline saw some other trainers leaving the lab in the distance, so she rose to her feet and decided to enter so she could hopefully join them in their excited display of their new partners. She entered through the front door and as she approached the back of the lab where the professor was, she allowed her index finger to trace over the desks she passed by. Madeline glanced at some interesting machines and large piles of paperwork. Being a professor seemed like a very busy job.
"Hello, Mr. Oak." The girl greeted as she got closer. The girl clad in sunshine smiled rather genuinely and reached her hand out to shake hands.

Finn nodded as he followed behind the excitable girl and her Mienfoo as they raced toward the door. Rory jumped ahead and made an effort to follow them in their race but looked back quickly and changed his mind, circling and walking at his trainer's heel at a slower pace. The small redhead contained a smile and watched his Turtwig. His starter was quite eager and seemed excitable but was simultaneously patient and seemed eager to prove himself or at least to please Finn for some reason. A nagging voice at the back of his mind told him this was not an unfamiliar reaction and that he shouldn't be surprised at the least given the fact that Oak himself had selected all the starter choices specifically but he ignored it and continued on.
It seemed as the other teens candidates had selected their Pokemon starters, they were all hanging around still. A few seemed interested and had followed behind Finn and Rory and Yoonhee and her Mienfoo, who she seemed to have recently named Shu. As the four stepped outside to find a spot for their battle, it seemed that the empty early morning streetcorner would be as appropriate a spot as any to begin a battle. "We'll get started so, we will?" he called out to Yoonhee to get her attention. Then he knelt down to Rory's height and smiled as the tiny green Grass type circled to face him again, moving his stubby legs and his snapping-turtle-like jaw pinching in a sort of smile. His sapling at the top of his head shook lightly in the breeze. "Now ten, ye're going do great," the small boy nodded and his Pokemon made a loud response which was probably affirmative.
"I can tell ye're very cop-on, Rory, and I believe in ye. So ye just do yer best and in no time tey'll likely be making cods of temselves, to be sure to be sure. I'll help when I can, and ye can improvise the rest, eh?" His Turtwig nodded and looked a bit more confident now. Finn stood and took a few steps back as Rory spun to face Shu and Yoonhee. "We're both ready when ye're bot' ready fight, we are! Show us the bloody craic unless ye plan to dodder!"

Oak handed out bags to the newcomers with the same prattle about its contents. Inside Palia's bag, the contents of her starters' were 'Eevee', 'Sandile' and 'Golett'. As for Madeline, hers were labelled 'Larvesta', 'Venipede' and 'Makuhita'. Though Oak secretly wondered how not one, but 2 rare Pokémon had been in the choices of his starter bundle, he figured it was nothing to worry about and continued searching for more bags to settle up before the rest could. One boy- Devon, he assumed? had just grabbed his labelled bag and left with leaving the remaining balls behind, which Oak merely shook his head at.
Meanwhile, Yoonhee only raised her eyebrow as she squatted down to talk to her Mienfoo. "Ok, so like, you flip the turtle over, and like, he shouldn't be like, able to attack, right?" she mused to the Mienfoo with a whisper. Shu nodded, flexing his muscles and already distracted from the Turtwig on standby before him, "After you like, tip him over, you like, totally tickle him." Shu's jaw nearly dropped on the grass- what was the use of battling if his goal was only to immobilise the opponent in laughter? The Mienfoo dismissed his owner and walked forward, before folding his hind legs and Meditating to increase his Attack stat. Ignoring Yoonhee's shouts of 'just tip him over!', the proud and hard-nosed Mienfoo charged forth at the Turtwig with a balled fist for a Pound.

The Mienfoo Pokémon looked to be closing its eyes in concentration, ND noticed. Hu had walked out behind the female and found a place a little ways away from the makeshift arena that a crowd of new trainers had formed around. Isaac stayed in the bag, poking his head out to watch as well.
This battle is important, ND thought. It was absolutely necessary to understand first how a Pokémon battle worked before ND tried it for humself, and the redheaded male looked like he understood what he was doing. Perhaps ND would ask him some questions later and try to fill in some of the holes in hus knowledge. Hu was quite lost as it was after seeing how the trainers interacted with the Pokémon, like they already knew everything about them. ND, on the other hand, had never talked to a Pokémon before today. The experience was both fascinating and terrifying, and ND was itching to write hus thoughts in hus journal. But watching the battle came first.
While the Mienfoo continued its concentrating (which ND supposed must have been its Meditation ability after having looked it up), ND watched the male’s Pokémon. Despite the concentration method of the Mienfoo, the Turtwig looked the most confident. The male had whispered something to it and smiled, and suddenly its whole demeanor changed. But the woman looked as confused as ND felt, and therefore her Pokémon also reflected her feelings. Perhaps this was key, the interaction between trainer and Pokémon.
I must watch this male carefully, ND noted. He may have much to teach me. But before hu could think anything else, the Mienfoo suddenly got up and charged the Turtwig. The battle had begun.

It was nothing she hadn’t heard before - the whole deal about being a pokemon trainer. She still listened graciously as she was handed her bag and her three choices for a starter pokemon. She let each out and registered them in her new pokedex. Palia intended on taking her time to choose which would be the best starter, until the little eevee bounded over from the pokeball and scaled her like a cliff before resting on her shoulders with a contented little chirp. “I suppose you’d like to come with me, then.” She said as she gave the pokemon’s chin a little scratch. The eevee chirped in what she could only assume was agreement, and she returned the other two starters to Professor Oak. With her new pokemon still perched on her shoulder she rifled through the bag. All basic starter stuff - the map would come the most in handy. Her eyes caught a trainer who seemed to be staying out of the way, registering the other pokemon that were around in their pokedex, talking to himself.
“I heard that, you know.” She said as she sidled up next to him in the quieter corner of the lab. “I’m Palia, and this is…” She paused, looking at her new pokemon. “Ellie? That sound like a good name to you?” To which the Eevee yipped a happy sounding response and she scratched behind its ears. “This is Ellie. What pokemon are you starting this journey with?”

Now that the first hurdle had been leapt, Savi thanked Professor Oak once more before bidding him farewell. They would've liked to chat with him a little longer, maybe ask for a few tips, but others were still swarming him for their Pokémon and bags, and Savi had no intention of demanding his attention for themselves. They could always call him later if need be; for anything else, there were the Pokédex and other Trainers and Bronzor itself.
A crowd was swelling outside the laboratory doors. Savi peered over some of the new Trainers' shoulders as they passed by: in the center, a redhead and a brunette were apparently already in the thick of their first Pokémon battle. It immediately became clear, however, that only the redhead really knew what he was doing, and Savi turned to consult their Pokédex instead. Turtwig and Mienfoo, they repeated to themselves, and strode towards the entrance to Route 1.
"Better get a headstart before the route gets overrun with Trainers," Savi told Bronzor. Bronzor only bobbed up and down again, which Savi took to meant that it agreed. Surely Bronzor would do something if it didn't agree? But what if it felt pressured to go along with whatever Savi said? What if it'd actually wanted to stay behind in Pallet, get to know some of the other Trainer-Pokémon pairs, and watch the battle? How had the first few generations of Trainers laid out the foundation for this kind of human-Pokémon relationship?
Well, no history book of Savi's could recount that in enough detail, but Savi knew what they could do right here, right now. "You could flatten me in a second if you chose to," they said, trying to soften their usual sharp tone. "You have just as much power as me, if not more so. If you ever have a dissenting opinion - or a question or concern or whatever else - please tell me."
Bronzor stared. Savi stared back. Then it was Bronzor who led the way, and a dozen steps later, Savi found themselves waist-deep in tall grass.

A lone Sandile was seen watching the Bronzor intensely. The small crocodile seemed freshly hatched, peeking out from a hole made in the ground and watching Sanvi and Bronzor. "Dile?" he questioned, burrowing closer to the Trainer before popping out under their feet and pulling at their pants in an attempt to trip them over. As he pulled and pulled, Sandile had conveniently forgotten about the existence of Bronzor entirely- and also the fact that Levitate would prevent him from even landing a hit. It was no matter to the young and playful Pokémon, eagerly trying to attract attention of the human with his tiny prank.
Sandile male, level 3 found.

"Thank you," Madeline said, still smiling as she reached into the bag and pulled out a random pokeball. She didn't look at it or ask any questions; it was a truly random decision. "I choose you!" She said, giggling. The girl tossed the pokeball lightly and released a small white and orange bug. The sight of it made her happy. It gurgle upon realizing its freedom and started to scuttle towards the door, but Madeline leapt over it in her large boots and blocked the escape. "No silly, I'm your trainer now." She squatted down. "I'm Madeline."
After introducing herself she lifted up the gurgling bug who hadn't yet decided if it should struggle and escape or go along with the girl in the large scary boots. "Thank you very much Professor." Madeline smiled. She looked down at the Larvesta and wondered what she would call it.

Riley snapped up from his Pokedex when Palia began speaking to him. He blushed a bit, embarrassed to have insulted another's Pokemon. She seemed nice and was definitely worth talking to. He smiled and scratched her Eevee's head lightly. After seeing both her and the Pokemon he realized that he had not noticed her before. In fact, the Eevee was probably the most interesting Pokemon in the group. It had so many evolutionary possibilities and intrigued him. He shook that thought and tried to concentrate on the conversation.
"Uh, hi! I'm Riley. And, hi Ellie," he started, "I'm starting with a Starly! This is Pepper." He drew his head back and turned it toward her to avoid knocking her straight off with her nose or chin. His attention then shifted back Palia and her Pokemon, "And it looks like you've got an Eevee. You're very lucky. There are so many possibilities with that one."

Madeline has since left the lab and went on her way back down the hill and into Route 1 where most wild pokemon in the area would be hiding. She held the warm silky bug in her arms. "I think I'll call you Vee. You look like a Vee." Madeline said to the pokemon who wasn't paying her much attention. This area was much bigger than the lab and it was quite exciting. Vee hardly had any time tot hink before she was set on the ground and the girl in boots shouted something at her. "Last one to route 1 is the broken exeggcute!" She giggled and jogged forward. Vee scuttled behind the girl. Not because they were friends but because she was afraid the girl in boots would squish her if she didn't obey.
"Lrrr!" She gurgled, catching up to the trainer with her stumpy little legs. She didn't have time to stop so when her trainer halted before the grass Vee darted right in!

It seemed like a harmless patch of grass at first to the Larvesta, before the ground suddenly parted under the fire bug's feet. An oval-shaped head emerged and attempted to clamp down on the Larvesta, a deep but small pit revealed close to the trainer and her starter. The Trapinch had set up a small but efficient trap for prey and seemed as though she had obtained a good meal, and the Ant Pit Pokémon was determined not to let go after such a long period of going without anything to eat. With a glare, the Trapinch had already began to burrow back into the ground and take said Larvesta with her to enjoy her hard-earned meal.

After a while from the battle's begin, Devon felt the itching desire to have a battle on his own yeah, he knew he was not experienced at all, but at the very least he and Magby would learn more participating on an actual battle than watching one, even loosing would give them more experience than what they were doing right now. Devon sighed and turned to Magby smiling "let's go Magby, we'll find a battle on our own" he said before standing up, Magby following him soon. Devon took the bag he kind of stole from Prof. Oak, he thought it was a gift from the old man after all, and took the empty pokeballs, putting them on the front pocket of his backpack except two which he put on his jeans pocket. He took the Pokedex and put it on the inner pocket of his jacket/sweater and started walking with Magby on Route 1's direction.
It didn't took the duo much to find their way out of the town, Devon even took the chance to show Magby his house, from th distance at least when they were on the outskirts of the town. Once they reached Route 1, Devon started moving around, this was a place he knew rather well, but at this momment, it seemed he was not the only one with the idea of having a battle with a wild pokemon, he could see the girl with the blue plate in the distance and another girl, one who got to the lab after him on the other side, maybe he'd have to go deeper so he wouldn't disturb them.
(a wild encounter please?)

A cheerful Pachirisu watched the duo quietly, before scampering before the duo with a confused look in her eyes. "Pachi!" she tinkled, clutching a Sitrus Berry tightly to her bosom with a dubious look in her eyes. Thinking the duo was posing a threat to her precious berry, the Pachirisu sized herself up to appear bigger with her tail and let off a few warning sparks from them. "Chi!" she tinkled once more, this time much louder. She must assume that if she made herself look big, the trainer and his Magby would leave her in peace with her berry.

Devon smiled at the appearance of the Pachirisu, though he wasn't sure of the species, he could tell from the sparks it was an Electric Type and that it was preparing for battle. The boy took his pokedex and scanned the squirrel with it Pachirisu, the EleSquirrel Pokémon. It makes electricity with pouches in its cheeks and shoots charges from its tail. It lives atop trees. It makes fur balls that crackle with static electricity. It stores them with berries in tree holes the machine read. Devon took a look at Magby, this was it, this was their first battle together. "ok Magby, this is it! Go, try to confuse it with a Smog attack!" the boy called. The small red pokemon nodded and while he wasn't entirely sure the Pachirisu was going to atatck them, he could tell that it'd defend itself if attacked. Magby moved to the squirrel, not getting intimidated by its furry tail, he released a dark purple~ish colored gas from his mouth, quickly covering the surrounding area to the Pachirisu.
