Devon shrugged as he saw Patrat failing misserably his attack, well sort of, the pokemon had managed to Tackle a foe, but not the foe he was aiming, instead of Sandile, the big teethed pokemon had hit Bronzor, barely hurting it. Worst of all, Bronzor had landed a Tackle of its own on Patrat, hurting the chipmunk like pokemon even further. Devon sighed, if they wanted to win something else must be done, maybe using the smoke cloud after the attack? Devon smiled, he remembered checking Bronzor the night before in his pokedex, he learn that aside frm the obvious Steel typing, it was also a Psychic pokemon which made him weak against moves like Bite, a move Patrat knew, plus Magby's Fire attacks would made it easy to take it down first and then go for the Sandile. "Patrat, use Bite on Bronzor! Magby, you follow up with Ember!" the trainer called. Magby nodded and watched Patrat who after rubbing his head a few seconds nodded and jumped at the Bronzor with his mouth wide open, aming to Bite the disk shaped pokemon on a side and shake it around a few times before letting go. magby awaited and as soon as Patrat's move ended, he released a big flame all over Bronzor's body to burn it with his Ember.
As soon as Magby's Ember stopped Devon called for the pokemon to make a move again "cover yourselves with smoke!" he said. Devon knew Magby was close to learn Smokescreen, yet he was sure Magby would not master the move right away so asking him to cover themselves with smoke, might be enough to trigger the idea on the pokemon to use a move like Smog, and thus, eventually master the Smokescreen. Magby nodded and opened his beak releasing a slighlty less purple~ish smoke around him and Patrat, he wasn't sure if it was Smog or not, but hopefully it would not Poison him or Patrat.
(I'ts up to you if Patrat's move hurts Bronzor and how much damage it does. Magby would attack either way if Patrat misses or not, still you get to call if they hurt Bronzor or not)

Riley With a resounding splash, Whiscash rolled and fell back into the water as if to flee- still asleep. Meanwhile, Binacle cheered seeing their Water Gun hit their mark, but their celebration was not for long as they were struck once more by Tackle. "Bi! Binacle!" cried out both face hands, before retracting into their stone with Withdraw to increase their Defense. A loud crack emanated through the small Pokémon as Binacle began using Shell Smash. After shedding a thin layer of rock, the Binacle charged forth with a powered-up Water Gun. "Oh, great," Riley said, watching the Binacle increase most of its stats. But then it dawned on him. He still wasn't using the immobility of the rock to his advantage. Sure, it could attack with something like Water Gun from afar or wait until Pepper got close to use Fury Swipes, but otherwise it was immobile. Even then, both faces were facing in the same direction. There was no coverage of both sides. Due to the general survival of the species, he would have to assume it could at least turn, but they couldn't both fire everywhere at once. They could play this like a spiral until they got close enough to take it out.
"Alright, Pepper. Dance around the Water Gun as best you can. Rotate and get a little closer slowly. Once you're close enough, try that same attack again. I think you can do it," he shouted, trying to be heard over the sound of the gushing water. She chirped her approval and charged inward to start. Her mistake cost some of her energy when the initial spout of water knocked her back on her butt. She rolled to the side to avoid being hit again. The extra weight added by the water made her slow, but she would hopefully be faster than a rock with hand-faces. The Starly stuck out her soaking wings and began her circular charge, trying to avoid the turns that the beam of water took. Her goal was to get close enough to smack the Pokemon back into the water. A faint white glow engulfed her wings.
[[Leaving it open ended... hoping to end the battle and maybe learn Wing Attack?]] With a loud crack, the Binacle was sent flying back into the body of water. It was clear that the faint white glow grew brighter and managed to take on its full form of a Wing Attack. Pepper slowly walked back to her trainer, giving a happy coo and wiping against his pant leg to try her wings off. Riley picked her up and wiped her off with his shirt. It left him drenched, but the tired bird was now able to fly and could rest on his shoulder. Niko let out a sigh, relieved that both of the battles were over. It was much more nerve racking to battle a wild Pokemon. There were no limitations. No way to know when to stop. That Whiscash, if it had wanted to fight back, could very well have injured him more seriously than the Munchlax had. The trainer threw his backpack back on and picked up the egg case. The day was still fresh. The sun was out and there was no reason to quit for the day. It would be smart to challenge the gym and get that obstacle out of the way. With that thought, he set out for the town and left behind the close encounter. Both Pokemon would likely be rested and ready to battle upon arrival.
Riley entered the gym as soon as he arrived. After the wild encounters, he was much more confident in his battling abilities. Niko was strong, but not quite ready to use Thunder Wave in a battle. It would be Pepper that he used against the gym leader. She had finally learned a move of her own type and was able to show capability in battle. While she did disobey once or twice, the majority of the time she listened with detail. It made the most sense to use her in the challenge. He waited at the entrance to tell whoever he needed to that he was ready to begin.

Riley The same man in overalls from earlier soon appeared to usher the boy in, where a teenaged but still slightly older boy was waiting with his arms crossed in the arena. "This battle will be a 1 on 1 match," explained the man regarding the rules, and the older boy looked visibly impatient as if he had heard this a thousand times, "Each challenger may not substitute their choice, and it ends when a challenger's Pokémon is deemed unfit for battle." The older boy waved a hand to silence the man in overalls, grinning confidently at the other boy across him.
"So, you think you can take me on?" he sneered, nothing too malicious but still intimidating, "I'm Blue of the Viridian Gym! The youngest person to have cleared the Indigo Plateau. After all was said and done, I decided to settle down here and take on challengers. Nobody's come for a while, 'til you and your friends showed up." Taking 3 Pokéballs from his belt randomly, he released a Charmander, Psyduck and Scyther, before he continued, "We always adjust our Gym standards to fit the challenger, so I hope I don't underestimate you. Pick one of the three I show you, and I'll prove my bond with them by battling you with it." He took a step back, still watching the other boy haughtily.

He know that Niko was too tired to fight and could not execute Thunder Wave. It wouldn't make sense to force him into an important gym battle. Pepper, on the other hand, would be the perfect choice. Not only did she take way less damage fighting the Binacle, but she had learned a new move and was likely still a bit pumped up. Upon making this decision, he nudged the bird that was perched on his shoulder with his head to signal that it should step forward. The Starly jumped to the ground and let out a cheerful coo. His Pikachu took the small bird's place and kept a close eye on each of the three opponents.
"Which one, though?" Riley pondered quietly, "Charmander's a Fire-type, which is pretty normal against a Flying-type. Psyduck is a Water-type. We already know what happens when birds get soaked. Scyther just seems... dangerous. Cutting things and the ability to fly after Pepper? Not good." He cleared his throat to speak to Blue, "I'm Riley! I'd like to battle your Charmander."

Riley The taller, teenaged boy nodded once sharply with a confident smirk. "Don't you regret it," he stated, recalling both Psyduck and Scyther to leave his Charmander in the arena. All his Pokémon were direct descendants to the boy's original team, and Charmander characteristically stomped her feet before glaring at the Starly. "Challenger gets first strike," continued the boy lightly, looking at the Starly with a smile. He recognized Starlies as a common species in a Sinnoh region, and while they evolved into fierce predators, the first form looked an utter failure at being menacing. Charmander took a step back, watching warily while steeling herself for the bird's advances. Both knew that somehow, the Starly's appearance was definitely misleading. Blue just hoped that it wasn't going to be another disappointment from a fledgling Trainer- not that he wasn't going to give it his all.

Blue just hoped that it wasn't going to be another disappointment from a fledgling Trainer- not that he wasn't going to give it his all. Pepper stared the lizard in the eyes, waiting for her first move. Riley assessed the situation. It would be smartest to create some sort of terrain movement in their advantage to start, but the Starly didn't know Sand-attack or any other sort of disturbance move. The other option would be to just go straight in, but being that it would be the first move it would likely be easy to dodge. Then again, what other choice did they have. She knew Tackle, Quick Attack, Growl, and Wing Attack. Nothing more, nothing less. They would just have to play it swift and strong. If she could dive in quickly and get out, it would be successful.
"Pepper, Wing Attack. And don't stop!" the trainer commanded, extending his left arm to point at the Charmander while clutching his egg case in his right. The Starly took to the sky and began an angled dive down at the opponent. Because of his commands, she wasn't poised to smash into the ground if she missed, but instead to simply arc back up into the sky. Her wings began to glow a faint white as the attack was prepared.

Riley "Smokescreen, Charmander!" stated Blue, not even unfolding his arms as Charmander watched the Starly propel itself towards her. Black smoke billowed from her mouth as it filled up the arena in a choking haze, obscuring the vision of the Starly and creating a convenient shield from both the vantage point of the Charmander and if Starly got airborne. In the smoke, some sparks of fire seemed to appear from seemingly nowhere as the Charmander began firing Embers at the opposing Starly. It was going to be tough on Pepper if she were to continue battling.

In the smoke, some sparks of fire seemed to appear from seemingly nowhere as the Charmander began firing Embers at the opposing Starly. It was going to be tough on Pepper if she were to continue battling. It was too late. The bird had taken her trainer's "don't stop" command a bit to blindly. She paid no attention to the small sparks that began to shoot through the cloud. Riley was unable to see what exactly was happening due to the nature of the Smokescreen. Even if he had, it likely would have been too late to safely avoid the attack. The Smokescreen alone was enough to worry the trainer though. When the small embers became visible to him, he quickly came up with a plan.
"Uh, Pepper. Quick Attack! Everything looks like it's coming from the same area. If you shoot in fast enough you might be able to hit it hard before it hits you too hard," he commanded, hoping the strategy would work. While this was all in a short span of time, it was enough for the Starly to react. Her wings dimmed slightly, but still maintained a Wing Attack. She began a swifter, "quicker", dive toward the Charmander. It wouldn't have the same raw power that a Wing Attack had, but it would certainly pack a punch due to the speed if it hit.

Riley At the burst of bright light from the Starly's wing, the Charmander let out a distracting and cutesy Growl from the cloud of smoke to distract the Starly. When the Starly sped up, she would come face to face to the Charmander's extended claws poised for a Scratch. The Charmander was young, but obviously experienced in dealing with aerial maneuvers and she leapt forward, attempting to get a Scratch on the Starly's belly if and when she tried to hit her with Quick Attack. A risky tactic, really, but Charmander was still fairly fast and if need be, she could roll back into the endless fog she had created with Smokescreen.

A risky tactic, really, but Charmander was still fairly fast and if need be, she could roll back into the endless fog she had created with Smokescreen. Luckily, the Growl forces Pepper to lose her course. It echoed oddly off the smoke and she had tried to curve to target the sound, but instead threw everything off and ended up smacking plain smoke with her wings. She shot through the other side of the cloud, leaving a jet stream of black behind her. That's when it dawned on Riley. The thought was right, but the execution was wrong. If the Starly were to do this but circle around the Charmander, she could create a funnel of smoke that would not only cut off oxygen for the Charmander to breathe fire, but also damage it in the process because of its tail fire's importance. "Pepper, same thing. Flatten your wings out but no Wing Attack. You're going for the effect, not contact. Circle it fast. From inside, it shouldn't be able to see you if your wings don't glow. Stir that storm up."
And so she did. After her first shot out, she took a dip to her right and began circling the cloud counter-clockwise. The black smoke followed her body and began to form the thing Riley wanted.

Yun entered the city north of Pallet Town. At the front of the city was a sign that read: "Welcome to Viridian City, the Gateway to Indigo Plateau!" The boy's eyes quickly read the sign before he made a small pout. "A city that only serves as a gateway to another place? That's just sad," he said to himself. But that was no matter. Boosting the city's confidence would be for another day. He had to get to the nearest Pokemon Center, which was luckily right ahead. He only recognized it because of the glowing PokeBall sign at the center of the roof, beaming an aura of sterility and safety. The Pokemon Center back at Ecruteak City had a different colored roof, a roof taht seemed more jaded than this edifice. This Pokemon Center's roof was a jubilant red--or a red that signaled urgency and emergency, if you chose to look at it that way. Regardless of the roof color, Yun quickly jogged towards the building. I guess they knew to put the Center closest to the city's main entrance, Yun thought, thinking of the particular convenience of the hospital's location considering trainers' need to get their Pokemon healed up.
Upon entering the Pokemon Center, he saw the nurse at the counter. All seemed calm in the center. Maybe all the new trainers came and went already. Nonetheless, Yun walked swiftly to the front counter.
"Excuse me, ma'am!" "Hello, and welcome to the Pokémon Center. We restore your tired Pokémon to full health. Would you like to rest your Pokémon?" "Y-yes, that would be great." The boy began to unfasten the PokeBalls on his belt. "I had an Elgyem who was quite injured, but an Audino bumped into us in the middle of the road, and she gave Elgyem some first-aid assistance. I'm sure it still needs further care, though." He handed the PokeBalls over to the nurse. "An Audino? That is very rare in our parts!" the nurse piped, taking the trainer's Pokemon. "Oh really? We were really lucky to have bumped into it then. It has some amazing healing abilities." "Yes it does! It, along with Pokemon like Chansey right here, tend to help around in Pokemon Centers worldwide," after gesturing to her pleasantly smiling Chansey by her side, the nurse then put the three PokeBalls into her tray before logging in data into her computer. "What is your name?" "Yun." "Okay, I'll take your Pokémon for a few seconds," she said before taking the tray through the doors behind her, Chansey following her.
Yun began to walk around the Pokemon Center as he waited. It was such a clean and sleek space, so brightly lit. The few trainers that were here were exchanging banter on the couches. Some of them were talking about their Pokemon, exchanging tips on training and grooming, and others were bragging of their Pokemon's strength. This was such a new sight to Yun, since he never really stepped foot in the Pokemon Center at home. He never had a need to, since he never owned a Pokemon. He was also unused to the modernness of it all: the screens--hovering and attached on walls, the keypads, the scanners, the phones. Yun wanted to run his hands across everything, but that might not have ended well. Shiny things usually broke under his touch. Plus, that idea didn't seem too clean either, and this was a hospital of sorts.
The boy mad his way to the bookshelf nearby and skimmed the spines of all the books, pamphlets, and magazines the center had to offer. "Hmm," he hummed as he hooked a small guide out with his finger. "Viridian City: A Guide," it read. The trainer flipped it open, and began to browse through, looking for what the city had to offer. "Hmm, a Pokemon Gym. Looks like the trainer is someone named Blue. Blue does not specialize in a particular type of Pokemon, and he gives anyone who defeats him an Earth Badge," Yun read. He wondered if he should challenge the Gym Leader. His Pokemon didn't seem strong enough to battle yet, and he hadn't even truly seen the abilities of his two new Pokemon. His best guess was to train them first. He then read something about a Pokemon Academy. "A school for learning about Pokemon?" he thought aloud. "I guess that's one way to learn about them. The basics, at least," he continued. Yun felt that the only true way to learn everything about Pokemon was to live amongst them, train with them, and explore with them.
Just as he was getting into other sections of the guide, the speaker of the overhead announcement system let out the nurse's voice, "Will Yun please come to the front desk. Your Pokemon are ready for pickup. Will Yun please come to the front desk. Your Pokemon are ready for pickup. Thank you." On that note, the trainer returned to the front desk of the center, and the nurse was waiting for him with his PokeBalls in the same tray, which to Yun now seemed cleaner.
"Hello, nurse," Yun greeted. "Thank you for waiting. We've restored your Pokémon to full health." "Thank you so much, nurse--sorry, what is your name?" "You can call me Nurse Joy!" "Oh, right. Thank you so much, Nurse Joy!" "The pleasure is mine! Please be careful with your Pokemon while battling. If you find yourself in the middle of the road when your Pokemon is injured, you can us items such as berries or potions to heal them temporarily until you get to a Pokemon Center! You can find those items at a PokeMart or if a trainer drops them by accident, actually." "Thank you for the advice, Nurse Joy. I appreciate it," the boy thanked her happily. "We hope to see you again!" "Thanks again!"
With that the boy left the counter. He decided to stay in the Pokemon Center for a while, to bask in its comfort and modern design. After all, trees, grass, and dirt were going to be a big part of his journey. He might as well enjoy some of the great indoors while he could, and what place is better to spend time indoors than a Pokemon Center? The boy found a blue couch in the shape of a semicircle. A few trainers were already sitting and talking at one end, so Yun decided to find himself a comfortable spot on the other end. Sitting down, he leaned his head back, letting it roll on the top of the back of the couch. It was not a particularly soft piece of furniture. He guessed that this kept trainers from getting back ache. It definitely was easier to get up from.
PERSON ENCOUNTER (if that exists still?)

Riley Charmander watched as the vortex began siphoning her smoke shield away from her, as well as cutting off oxygen to create flames. The Charmander did not stay idle, using her claws to slice through the smoke vortex and tumbling out- exposing herself in the process. Annoyed, she let out a small stream of flames to light the ground ablaze, making it impossible for Pepper to now land. If the Starly were to attempt to create more diversion, it would only end up getting burnt trying to get low enough to hit Charmander. The Charmander had taken a hit from her own smoke choking herself, as well as the oxygen-deprivation tactic working to some extent. What would Riley do next? ----- Yun A white-haired girl noticed the boy languishing on the couch, and ran over. Beside her was an imposing Heracross, and she looked the boy up and down. "Hey! Do you want to trade Pokémon?" she ventured, revealing 3 other Pokéballs on her, "I've been catching random Pokémon up and down the Rock Tunnel due to training my Heracross and looking for a Mega Stone for her, but I've got no luck getting what I want. If you're game for that, I'll show you what I can offer you, and you show me what you can give me, ok?" The bubbly and energetic girl did not even wait for an answer as she released the 3 Pokémon to show Yun- a Drilbur, Torkoal and feisty-looking Gliscor.
"Go on, you have to give me something that'll make my heart race," she stated, grinning confidently.

Pepper and Riley both took note of the fiery ground. There was no way she could safely land, but then again, did she need to land? Surely she could latch onto some pipe or vent stretched across the ceiling. That wasn't the biggest problem, though. The biggest problem was figuring out how to fight the rest of the battle. She would definitely have to dive like before but be sure not to touch any part of herself to the ground. Her trainer spoke the Pokemon's thoughts, giving meaning to them.
"Pepper, Wing Attack again. Stay high, come in wide and at a low angle," he commanded. The Starly complied, soaring to the far end of the gym before starting a white-winged dive at the Charmander.
[[if she gets hit by anything just write it in. I'm not good at controlling that sort of thing in important battles]]

"Go on, you have to give me something that'll make my heart race," she stated, grinning confidently. The white-haired girl had surprised Yun. He had expected to be left alone in the quiet hum of the center, but he guessed that company wouldn't be too bad. The girl seemed excited to him, and her Heracross had a gleam of healthiness. They could have definitely just came back from training, since it even seemed stronger. Yun smiled at the girl as she mentioned her proposition of trading. He had heard about trading Pokemon from his sister as she flew them over to Pallet Town on her Pidgeot. "Listen, Yunny! You can also get Pokemon by trading with others. Sometimes, we catch something that just might be in better care with someone who is definitely more passionate about that species. It isn't a bad thing to trade your Pokemon away. Just make sure it goes to a great trainer who will take excellent care of it!" he recalled her saying loudly to cut through the sound of the wind noisily blowing by. At the sight of the trainer's Heracross, Yun could definitely tell that the white-haired girl was someone to be trusted with care of any of his Pokemon, but was he ready to trade? He had never done it before, but he wanted to see how it went. As the girl released her Pokemon from her PokeBalls, Yun's eyes sparkled at the Pokemon that revealed themselves from the bright beams of white light. "W-wow!" he managed to say. They all seemed healthy and strong, and Yun had never seen any of them before. He quickly took his PokeDex out and began to scan each of them for their information. T-this is amazing, he thought. He looked at the Drilbur and imagined being able to easily navigate through caves. Drilbur was much bigger than Sal, so he could probably dig holes big enough for the both of them. Yun then glanced over at Torkoal and imagined himself riding on the quadrupedal Pokemon when he was tired. It was a Fire type as well, and those didn't come around often ever. His thought of riding the Torkoal was quickly sabotaged by the possibility of being covered in smoke from the hole in Torkoal's back. "Haha," Yun laughed at the possibility that he just imagined. His eyes then moved on to the last Pokemon: Gliscor. It looked much like Gligar, and his PokeDex had confirmed that assumption by mentioning that it had evolved from Gligar. Gliscor was so impressive to Yun that he couldn't he but to look at it. It was a Ground-Flying type, and it looked like it definitely knew some Poison-type attacks, which Yun had always admired from Koga (even though the most recent scare with Elgyem had shook that admiration a bit). He continued to look at Gliscor, imagining just how powerful and swift it'd be in battle. When the girl demanded to see his Pokemon, she snapped Yun out of his daydream. "Uh, okay," he mumbled as he unfastened the three PokeBalls from his belt. He guess this was for the best as well, since he hadn't seen his Pokemon after they have been treated by Nurse Joy. Maybe that would work in his advantage, making his Pokemon seem healthier. "I'm a pretty new trainer, so I don't have strong Pokemon like you, but I think they are quite interesting, though." On that note, he released all three of his Pokemon. As the white beams of light disappeared to reveal Sal, Elgyem, and Audino, Yun was amazed at the work that Nurse Joy had done. All of them seemed to have a sheen of shininess to their appearance, gleaming in energy and health. Even Audino, who hadn't been battling, looked happier and healthier. As for Elgyem, it was now more energetic than ever. As it was released from the PokeBall, its eyes glowed and it hovered in circular paths around the trainer and the Pokemon, spinning in a graceful fashion as it did so. "Haha, so you're definitely feeling better!" Yun said to the Elgyem. He then looked back over at the female trainer to see what she thought. He hoped that she would not as for Sal, since Sal was his Pokemon. He would have to decline if she did. He didn't know how he felt about leaving Audino either, since she had just joined him team. She proved to be useful, but would he be willing to trade her for the Gliscor he secretly wanted? His thoughts on Elgyem were more or less the same. It had just gotten better, and its new little "performance" awed him. But it was also a Psychic Pokemon, and Yun didn't know how to cater his physically-intense methods of training to that type. Nonetheless, he was waited for a response.

Riley The Charmander lunged at the Starly headfirst, trying to burn it with Ember. The reckless fire lizard was emboldened by the fire that surrounded her, and truly, if Blaze was activated, it would only serve to make Charmander even stronger. Even though the Starly was trying to knock her back with its wings, the Charmander could not already care less as all she wanted was to impress her owner. With her claws out, she ran at Pepper in an attempt to scratch her underside.
---- Yun (Note: I RNGed from 1-3 what she'd choose from Yun's and herself.)
The girl surveyed all the choices she had, before pointing at Audino with a grin. "How about that one?" she stated, before turning to all her Pokémon and randomly picking one. "That Audino for my Torkoal, then?" she ventured, holding out the Ball at Yun and oblivious to the fact that the boy had wanted her Gliscor. She waved the ball at him impatiently when she saw the boy deep in thought, beginning to get annoyed when the boy seemed to make no response.
