Against The Tide
Welcome to the Johto region! This roleplay is set in the near future of Johto. There are some new towns and gyms and new places to discover! You play the part of an aspiring pokemon trainer. You want to conquer the pokemon league and believe with every fiber of your being you can do ti! Your only problem is that you do not have a pokemon. Some of you have applied many times for a pokemon and failed, using up all of your applications, but some of you still have one chance left! Professor Elm does not give a pokemon to just anyone, and in a world where money talks some of you won't get a pokemon the easy way. It's up to you to figure out how to get a pokemon and to start your journey. The region is huge, much bigger than the games and anime have depicted it. It will take days to reach cities so you will have plenty of time to train and meet new friends in the mean time! Now go off and start your journey! To start your intro use either note from the professor as the beginning: Note: In this world, at age 10 you are eligible to apply for a starter from Elm and you can do so until age 13. Once you are 14 you can't apply anymore. "I have received your application to receive a starter pokemon and I am writing to inform you that you have been accepted. Please come to my lab in New Bark Town to collect your starting pokemon and the new pokedex I have developed. There is a new feature that will help you a lot as a pokemon trainer! You should also take on the pokemon gym challenge so you can get stronger with your partner pokemon to help you with the research. Good luck and see you soon" -Prof Elm
-or- "I have received your application to receive a starter pokemon and I am writing to inform you that your application has been rejected. My deepest apologies go to you, but these limited pokemon are reserved to go to the best applicants, and sadly your application did not meet the same standards. Good luck on becoming a pokemon trainer, and I again I apologize for not being able to help you. -Prof Elm"Rules:1. RS forum rules 2. Violence/Romance is allowed. Don't be gross. 3. You can create your own side-quests, just PM me about them. 4. Levels are used. Pokemon level up over time but quicker from battling. 5. Pokemon can learn level up moves with 3-5 posts after you clear it with me. 6. You can ride larger pokemon to cut travelling time/flying pokemon to fly to familiar cities. 7. If I am gone for more than two days, ask a fellow member to generate pokemon for you. 8. Don't God-Mod (duh) 9. Every post you may ask for a pokemon/item/NPC, if you ask for an event then you will get a random chance. 10. You are using your app as a character page, and I expect you to update it.

-When your pokemon is around the level it can learn an attack, you can train it to use that attack. -It will take 3 posts if it is an upgraded version of an attack (ember to flame burst, tackle to quick attack, scratch to fury swipes) -It takes 5 posts to learn a new attack altogether -Pokemon never forget moves unless you want them to -TM's instantly teach a move and are infinite. They are registered in your pokedex and can't teach moves to pokemon that don't belong to you. -Move Tutors teach a move in exchange for shards, pearls, stardust, nuggets, etc -Fissure and Sheer Cold change the battleground instead of OHKOing the opponent -SLEEP INDUCING ATTACKS MAKE YOUR POKEMON DROWSY, NOT FULL BLOWN ASLEEP -Events can be a pokemon, item, or trainer battle. -Scan everything with your pokedex! Name: Verity Lanellea Weathers Gender: Female Age: 13 Hometown: Lavender Town Personality: The only time she truly seems happy is when she is helping Pokemon breed or playing with her Pokemon (her two favorite things in the world). She is very independent and does things in her own unique way. She has few friends, mostly because of her reserved demeanor and pessimistic attitude, but she would like some, because she sometimes gets very lonely. History: Her mother died just after she named Verity. Her father is a cruel man who beat his daughter often and showed very little remorse. When Verity turned 11, she ran away from home (Lavender Town) and found herself in New Bark Town. She could become certified as a Pokemon trainer but it would be entirely useless if she was too poor to fund her own journey. She eventually found a solution, though; working at BreedCorp. BreedCorp was the perfect solution, it was a company that bred Pokemon for trainers with spare cash (like Daycares, but quicker and more high-tech) and working there would earn Verity a Breeder's license. Now Verity works at BreedCorp as a Junior Breeder, helping Pokemon feel comfortable and ensuring they are happy and healthy (which she views as super important, but the corporation views it more as undesirable obligation, though they do recognize that quality affects the amount of trainers that use the service). She also is allowed to capture and train Pokemon with her license. All of her Pokemon were personally bred, cast-off extras that Trainers either forgot about or decided they didn't want after all. Even though Verity has a great job, she still feels that the BreedCorp atmosphere is too businesslike and too impersonal. Her dream is to travel around the world, offering her free and kind breeding services to trainers, proving that breeding is not just business, that it is all about family and love and care. Currently, she just lacks the bravery and motivation to make her dream a reality. But after applying for a job to work as a Research Aide for Professor Elm, she received a reply inviting her to his lab. Excited, Verity is eager to take this new job which will give her enough money to allow her to travel and hopefully breed Pokemon for people like she wants. Pokemon: Normal Other: Her earrings magnetically clip to minimized Pokeballs, so she holds two Pokemon there frequently and the rest are minimized and stored in a pouch on her belt. Verity also only uses Premier Balls, which she brought with her from BreedCorp, because she likes the white design better than the white and red of regular Pokeballs. If she finds other Pokeballs on her journey, she will most likely give them away to other trainers.

Mdf~ Accepted, but there are a few holes in her history since you had to change her age.
I decided to run things differently with *evil laugh* no rerolls. Here are your starter choices because I will forget if I don't post them. Glameow, Zubat, Slowpoke You can choose one normal ability, and then they also have their hidden ability. Hidden abilities only activate in dire situations.

I think/hope I edited the age correctly...I think. I just didn't like the idea of getting a filthy Rattata rooting through the trash as a starter and wasn't really sure if you were going to let us choose or just make us deal with whatever we were given. At least this way I get a choice and it won't be a street urchin, hahaha~ I'll reply ASAP~

Jaden Reight // // 13 Pallet Town Personality
Headstrong and often blindly confident. He is a nice guy, but occasionally oversteps boundaries while talking. He wants nothing but the best for people but can often mess things up for them. While this kind of thing would often get someone down, he remains completely optimistic. It takes a while to get used to his presence normally, but he is likable. History
Jaden grew up in Pallet, a now large tourist attraction. After Red/Ash/whoever's journey and news about it spreading across the world, many come to the town to see what it is like there and what the "hero" experienced. Jaden, who worked at a tacky tourist shop based around Red, often found himself extremely jealous of the rumors he would hear. There was always something about them that made him wish he could be out there doing it himself. So, when the day came, he applied at age 11. His first test was a failure and caused him to lose a lot of hope in this dream. There wasn't much that motivated him the next year. He went through the motions in school, learning whatever he could. Then, when his 12th birthday rolled around, he reapplied and retook the test. While it was a failure this time, it was extremely close to the passing score. Now he was motivated. The next 7-8 months involved extreme studying until he took the test for the final time. They mailed it back to him with a passing grade only 10% above failing. It wasn't great, but it was definitely something. As soon as he found out, he took a trip across the Tohjo Falls border and rushed to New Bark Town.
Pokemon: normal
Other: He looks relatively old for his age and is often mistaken for someone who has been on their journey for a while. If anyone does mention this, he will often get irritated.

So we are not continuing the RP we started back at VDex but actually starting again, is that right? Or will we continue with the RP from VDex?

Oh god Torchic AND Eevee as choices? This is a hard one.
I think an Umbreon/Espeon woudl be cool, but a fiery Torchic would fit his personality better. I think I'll have to choose that for his starter.
I'll get a post up ASAP!
