Hoenn 2: Land and Sea - Interest thread

Kind of like the chapter 2 of Hoenn, I would like to open up the possibility of a more developed rp.

Only becuase the first Hoenn rp would probably not last long enough for the entire plot to really unfold (like 5th gym late), I have decided to let the plot unfolld a bit more in this rp.

This rp is special, becuase you all start with three more powerful pokemon. You actually get to choose them. These pokemon must come from a past closed rp from a character that you created originated from either here or vdex.

You may choose three pokemon from any past closed pokemon region rp with a few restrictions

*They cannot be legendaries/psuedolegedaries/rp exclusive pokemon (like clones from Kanto)/or shiny

*They are around lv. 30. (so the fun of evolution is still possible) You may start with them evolved if they meet the requirements  (not sure if I should allow pokemon that are already evolved/leveled past that)

* They do not come with items or tm moves from past rps.

*You cannot trade these pokemon in the rp once chosen (though you can box them/ choose not to use them)

*If you have not participated in a past rp or do not wish to use old pokemon, you may receive a randomized 6 pokemon and you may choose from them (no rerolls though)


These pokemon don't have to necessarily be the exact same pokemon as in the rp (like personality wise or history). It is just a party choice based on your past catches.

Plot: With the land and sea team's (magma and aqua's) leaders gone, the team's admins have taken charge and have strangely decided to work together, surprisingly for a common goal. Not much is known so far, but with recent museum robberies and the kidnapping of 2 gym leaders, Professor Birch has worked together with Steven to recruit notable trainers from across the land. With the gym leaders as the apparent targets, he feels as though he should have a lesser known group back up squad to aid them if something happens to them and that's you. With your 3 well trained pokemon, you are to explore Hoenn and find out how to stop whatever plan the two teams are hatching. 
(the only ones who actually know the whole plot are me, yuki, and jjx who all approved of how awesome it is)


You will be fighting legendaries before this is through

I'm not sure which character I would want to use. Let's say I have a character that only had one pokemon, can I get a choice of 5 and pick 2 to make their team of 3?

It's all or nothing.
but you don't have to choose an actual character and keep all of their pokemon. You can make up a new character and use a combiation of 3 pokemon from any dead rp.

Hmmm, this is an interesting concept. I'm considering just bringing forth Landon with Lotad, Snorunt, and Chikorita. I mean, I never liked him but that was (besides various personality kinks) because I always wanted him to be a strong battler but lazy, carefree person so if I could just get the automatic bonus of leveling ahead and getting stronger automatically, that would be nice...hmmm...but a new character with old catches might be a nice bonus too. I have caught some rather nice Pokemon in past RPs, after all. I do have a question then, I suppose...can we create more than one character? I know some RPs do this and some don't but I'd be interested if it were possible, in creating two separate trainers or more...

I would prefer one character per person, but if you aren't using your past hoenn character, you are free to mention his past or acheivements he would have had in the old rp (as long as they don't conflict with the plot)

I also see this as a way to epitomize your past character's parties to your favorites/strongest

If I keep Jasper how far would he have gotten in his journey before this happened?

It does sound really interesting. But I have a question, can we use the character we used on your Hoenn RP back at VDex? And, about the team, I'll have a hard time figuring out which pokemon to use, most of my pokemon tend to be either pseudolegendaries or overpowered teams

. But my question is, can we choose a pokemon we would have catched in another RP (I'm tempted to use a Chespin like the one I encountered at Hoenn)?

becuase some of the gym leaders have been kidnapped, the gyms are closed. So so far, only the badge of Gym Leader Roxanne could have been obtained. (but they are obtained quicker here)

I may just close the Hoenn Rp and let people use their past pokemon/characters from that, but yeah, you could probably use chespin.

but also remember the rp that you opened, Kaiser. didn't you have a team on that?

I think I want to use Raticate from Johto and Fearow from Amani and that's probably it.

Huh, this seems pretty interesting to me too~
I'd probably choose either Imbrium's (from Broskii) Eevee, Magikarp (Or oddish), and Stoutland or Caefawn(Pansear), Kousui(Omastar), and Maya(Bellsprout) from Kanto.

I'm leaning more towards the Kanto mon, though.

I thought you said the plot wouldn't begin to progress until the fifth badge? So why by the time the Hoenn characters got past Roxanne would the rest have already closed? Wouldn't they have time to travel to other cities like Dewford/Mauville/etc by boat or other means in that time? Obviously they would have gotten stronger and still traveled in some sort of assumed time gap so why would they only have one badge?

I meant by the time you would have gotten the 5th badge, including backtracks to past cities and events in between (which would have taken years with the way rps seem to progress)

Depending on the pokemon you pick and who you travel with, you can get to different places rather quickly. Remember the ride-able pokemon rule that never got used because no one had yet caught a ride-able pokemon? It can be used now.


as stated in a few past posts, between the stopping point in the original Hoenn rp and now, there has been robberies and kidnappings, leading to the closing of the gyms for a while. (kind of like in the manga when the gym leaders left their post to protect people and even the anime when gyms close)

Would a Bayleef/Meganium be rideable?

lol I suppose so (meganium, not bayleef since it is 4 feet tall and under 40 pounds)


remember that hoenn is like..surfing central. It would be benificial to either bring a ridable swimming pokemon, make friends with someone who does, or hope that you can catch one later.

With that point in mind, in Kanto Sammiya had caught a mantine which she called Elu... The problem would then be choosing who to replace out of Kousui or Maya...

Unless stoutlands are rideable? They're under four feet but weight 134 pounds? (They also can learn Surf, but...)
