Jasper VincentLandon Joseph HallKaiserCarli SaydemNPCs The Official Pokemon Professor of the Hoenn Region. He specializes in Pokémon habitats and distribution. Because of this, he is usually away from his lab and studying pokemon in their natural habitats. He comes back to the lab once a month to distribute his findings and give out pokemon to beginning trainers. Pokemon: Falling into a rut with her contests, May has decided to try contests again in her hometown, starting from scratch. Though she is famous in Petalburg and her skills in past contests are well known, she still gets nervous around contests. While her other pokemon are at home, she decided to catch a new pokemon in petalburg to get started. Pokemon: ____ Max is the new gym leader of petalburg city. Graduating the best in his class, Max was known for studying hundreds of different battle strategies. He may be new to the job, but his strategies have already put his gym on the map. He never misses a chance to see his sister in a contest. ____ Roxanne is the gym leader and an honor student at the Pokémon Trainers School of Rustboro. She knows much trivia about Pokémon. She's also often arrogant about her intellect. Due to her high grades in school, Roxanne gives each challenger an elligability test before they can start a match. As the honor student of her school, she is in charge of the trainer school for upcoming trainers, and has a reservoir of pokemon at her disposal. She was one of the gym leaders to be kidnapped. ____ Blake is the new gym leader of Mauville city, taking over for his great uncle Watson. He is typically monotone and calm, giving no real attention to himself, but his personality turns around when he is shown electricity. He becomes excited, loud, and hyper at the drop of a dime. His pokemon also match Blake's personality and change with him. Blake is small, but surprisingly powerful as a gym leader. ____ Former Gym Leader of Mauville City, Watson is now in charge of the upkeep of Mauville's electrical upkeep and towers. Due to his more laid back attitude, he was one of the first targets of the Gym Leader kidnappings. ____ Flannery is the Gym Leader of Lavaridge town. She has a fiery attitude and is always pumped to battle. Though she tends to be distracted easily, Flannery has a very upfront battling style that tests a trainer's ability to face a challenge that gets continuously tougher. Her battles are usually quick, as she tends to "burn out" if she expends too much energy. Rivals/Notable Trainers- [/i] [/ul] MiraFemale, 15 Mira is is a young girl from a rich family. She is often timid when alone, barely speaking and avoiding confrontation. When around friends or friendly faces, however, she often becomes much more confident, offering her opinions and speaking up. She is known for seeing the inner beauty in people and pokemon. She enjoys pokemon contests more than gym battles and can easily make moves beautiful. Her battling style is hard to figure out, as it changes depending on her pokemon. Special Ability: Offers contests improving items as well as friendship improving items. MonteroMale, 19 Always carrying his well stocked backpack, Montero is an introvert with a monotone voice and sharp eyes. He can easily evaluate a situation, but struggles with voicing his concerns and opinions. He often fades into the background, but on rare occasions will speak up make a big difference. Montero's battling style involves finding weakness fast and exploiting it. His battles can be especially brutal to those who underestimate him. He is good at spying due to his natural ability to go unnotticed. He is working on being more active and expressive. He dislikes loud noises. Special Ability: Offers random items and advice on future paths.
Sam
Female, 20
Sam is the female version of Alvis. She believes that she is the best and does not accept defeat easily. Sam focuses on strong direct attacks and considers defense a waste of energy. She believes that she has irresistible beauty, but her rude attitude typically turns men away from her. Despite it being one dimensional, her battling style has gotten her far and she has was called upon to investigate the gym leader kidnappings along with the other trainers. She has a crush on Steven Stone.
Special Ability: provides a random stone if you impress her.
Jun Female, 15 Jun is a trainer who focuses on martial arts. Her pokemon team is based on fighting type pokemon, and she is an expert on counterattacks. She is a calm battler who waits for opportunities to attack. She rarely speaks, but often catches the eye of other trainers. Her physical ability allows her to defend herself against humans as well as opposing pokemon. When she cant stand a situation enough, she simply leaves the area. Special ability: offers berries and battle gems. Will assist in training. ____ Lawson Male, 14 Lawson is from the same rich family as Mira that produces TMs in the Hoenn Region. He is an overconfident trainer who uses money to one-up his opponents. With access to virtually all tms, Lawson's pokemon have a wide variety of moves at their disposal. He also purchases well bred pokemon. With these advantages, Lawson has made a name for himself as a new trainer. It helps that he can gather reporters to record his battles and raise his status. Special ability: Offers random TMs if you impress him. ___ Lucas Cross Male, 13 Lucas is a young trainer who gained popularity after representing the B button league. He encourages his pokemon to fight their hardest without pressuring them into evolution, only wanting them to evolve when they are ready. He holds a connection with them, since he is smaller than most of his opponents as well. As a result, his pokemon have gained the fighting ability on par with evolved pokemon. He surprises his opponents with skillful training methods and amazing results. Special Ability: Helps train or evolve unevolved pokemon. Special ability: Offers random TMs if you impress him. I'll play numerous NPCs. I will also set up each area before you write your posts for that area so make sure you read the other posts to see where the RP is at current time. I am also in charge of Catch results. You can fight the wild Pokemon or offer friendship, up until the point you throw the Pokéball. You will then end your post with a Bolded " Pokeball" away from the last paragraph and I will calculate the result. Rules - Stay Active! It’s a very important part of an RPG, if you are going to be unable to post for a while, PM me or post here, so I know why you aren’t posting. I want to keep this rp going for as long as possible - If you want an encounter (i.e. A wild pokemon, item, or trainer battle), please put the word "Event" in bold away from the main paragraph so i may see it. You may, however, lead the post to one of these event types to make it easier. -If you happen to run into another participating rper, stick to what each person is doing. (like if one is in a battle, post watching it before intervening) -Other than that just follow the basic forum rules and keep it pg13 as per Vdex Rules. -Shiny pokemon can be found just as easily in the rp as they would be in the video games. Shinies will be much harder to catch than normal pokemon. If you have a ball that could help (like a fast ball or moon ball) then that would be your best bet. There is no limit to how many shiny pokemon you may encounter but remember that they are difficult to encounter. Additional rules/Nuances -Eggs have a 3% chance of being twins. Just like with chicken eggs that can sometimes have two yolks, a single egg may hatch into two pokemon.
-Each pokemon gym can have its own rules. One gym might be one on one but the next could very well be a double battle.
-You may challenge a gym leader more than once, whether you win or not for experience.
-experience isn't automatically given. pokemon that simply sit in your party do not level up. Those that battle or train more will gain the experience.
-The pokemon given by NPC's and your starter will grow slightly faster than other pokemon.
-If an npc or gym battle goes well enough, a tm or special item may be given
- If you catch a ride-able pokemon, after (approx.) level 30, you may ride the pokemon and take up to 1/3 the time out of travels. (doduo, ponyta, drifblim, ect. ) if you have a question about eligible pokemon, please pm me^^
-If your pokemon evolves with a trade and/or item, you may substitute the trade part for max friendship (with the exception of shelmet and kerrablast)
-Pokemon eggs will hatch at a time relative to the pokemon contained inside (i randomize before hatching)
- Wild pokemon can have a maximum of 3 catch attempts unless otherwise noted.
-The nature of pokemon are subject to change upon evolution. (like the anime) A timid caterpie may evolve into an adamant metapod.
-As long as they don't contradict each other, a pokemon may have both its primary and secondary ability or its DW ability (The Password is awesome sauce.)
- There are more than 8 gyms (like in the anime's Kanto region) However, you only need 8 badges to qualify for the pokemon league.
-Pokeballs can be replenished to 5 at each pokemon center
- Pokemon obtained through trades cannot posses moves forgotten without the aid of a move tutor.
- Friendship catches are calculated by multiplying the catch rate by 1.5
-only one friendship catch is allowed per pokemon, and this catch counts as your 1st catch for the pokemon
-Pokemon like feebas can evolve with high beauty (participating in contests, eating blue poffins, and and wearing beauty items.) as well as with a prism scale.
-TMs have a maximum of 3 uses unless otherwise noted. The sharing of tms is aloud, but there must be some kind of item trade for this to conclude.
-The pickup ability will give a 10% chance of acquiring a random item directly after the pokemon with this ability participates in a battle.
-Until an egg hatches, it is treated as an item and a pokemon. It can be traded away for other items and still takes up space in your party.
-Items such as fishing roods can only be used one at a time. As in, if one person is still in their fishing battle, another player is not to use their rod. Exchanging of items is fine though.
- Flying type pokemon do not have an immunity to ground type attacks that use the same method of attacking as normal moves (pretty much only protecting from moves such as dig, earthquake, and magnitude)
-Psychic type moves are overpowered in rps due to many of them breaking the "ring as the opponent" rule. Because of that, no member may use a psychic type move to physically move an opponent. The only exception is NPCs that progress the story.
- Ocular attacks such as leer and glare do not effect pokemon with no eyes or those that are mentioned to be blind in the pokedex (like zubat, dieno, and nincada) Mega Evolution -Mega evolution can occur in any pokemon that has been officially released as a mega pokemon by nintendo.
-For mega evolution to occur, the trainer must have a keystone for tehmselves and a mega stone for their pokemon. Additionally, the bond between the pokemon and trainer must be at its peak, meaning that max friendship is required.
-Only one mega stone may be found by each trainer, however through gifts and exchanges with other characters, multiple megastones may be obtained by a single character.
-Think of Mega evolution as multiplying your pokemon's abilities by two (with exception to obvious stat changes that come with mega evolution.) For instance, Mega Sableye has significantly reduced speed compared to normal sableye, so that stat would not increase. In-game features-Hidden Power Workings- NORMAL

Name: Manta Loken Age: 16 Gender: male Personality: Manta is a bit shy and very caring. He doesn't like loud noises or sudden movements and will show why if shocked, however, when stressed or overwhelmed, his face becomes almost emotionless. During battles, he changes his way of thinking to be precise and accurate. This also happens when he's sad. But something good will always turn him around quickly. He tends to see through defenses and often comes up with very creative strategies, but they do not always go as he plans. History: His parents own an Poke egg farm and needed help. he helped the young hatched pokemon find homes with trainers and families. Those that wanted to become wild were allowed to leave. Although he had many pokemon in pokeballs that he had bonded with, they were mostly to help out at home and thus not suited for my journey. He has been known to see the greatness in every pokemon and would offer his assistance to let them shine He left for my journey on my 15th birthday, now that he was not needed at home. After learning that his feelings towards pokemon could be channeled into other means, Manta decided to be both a coordinator and challenge the pokemon league. With the gyms closing due to the mysterious mishaps, Manta focused his time on contests. Making a name for himself and displaying his skills on television, Manta become a noticeable contender. To give his parents more help in the egg farm, Manta left a majority of his pokemon with his parents.

Name: Landon Joseph Hall Age: 17 Gender: Male Personality: Landon wants to lead a nomadic life and meet new people. Landon is a very caring guy and can become very attached to others, whom he will always look out for, acting like an older brother (well, kinda like an older brother…but more like that creepy but nice guy who smokes pot). He is prone to moments of intense silence and ponders deep questions about life which can prove both hilariously entertaining and semi-interesting. Despite his laid back nature, Landon is quite a skilled tactician and battle strategist and he trains with his Pokemon a lot due to their extreme motivation. He might seem like an easy win for all his random hippie appearances but though he really is that way, he is not an easy opponent, which surprises a great many people. History: Landon had always lived in Odale Town with his mother, father, and three siblings (one older brother and two younger sisters). He had always been calm and prone to nomadism (“I’d love to travel wherever the wind takes me, man.”) but never left town because he believed it his destiny to stay and protect his family. But at age sixteen, he started a Pokemon journey because he finally thought “the time is right, man” and he believef that “Mother Earth” was calling him forth to become a trainer to which he responded, “mkay, man, that sounds cool.” Despite his laid back nature, Landon has made a name for himself throughout his travels for using little Pokemon and traveling light but being a skilled battler and tactician and an extremely difficult opponent to battle against. Since gyms have closed throughout the region, many have turned to ranking some of the region's finest opponents and trying to battle against them almost as if they were "acting gym leaders" and many have followed Landon around and camped out in town awaiting his arrival just to battle him, and though he doesn't always win, he is appreciative for the training opportunity and his family is incredibly excited for his newfound "fame". Landon attributes his success to the hardworking attitudes of his Pokemon and the benevolence of Gaea, mother of all things earthly. Pokemon:{Spoiler}Lombre was Landon's starter Pokemon. This Pokemon is very laid back and has a sweet nature. He loves cuddling and sleeping (very often) and makes little gurgling noises. He has gained tons of experience in battle in the past year and is very eager to battle once he finds the proper motivation (and if he isn't too sleepy)...Overall, he is an incredible powerhoud of the team and his battles are not to be underestimated. Upon evolution, he has become quite a bit more energetic than in his previous form. Astonish | Growl | Absorb | Nature Power | Mist | Natural Gift | Mega Drain | Rain Dance | Fake Out | Fury Swipes | Water Sport | Bubble BeamFroslass is a beautiful, ravishing, and luxurious Ice type Pokemon that Landon and Lombre (then Lotad) defended from a wild Skuntank, gaining her respect and causing her to want to travel with them. She is still sometimes excitable and silly, but is also very sweet and works very hard and now that she has grown older, she is much more elegant and refined, especially in her new status. She is an experienced battler from her life in the wild, but her dreams are actually in Contests, though she has proved herself as a capable and skilled battler many a time through battling countless trainers in the last year. The little red Air Balloon she used to carry around as a Snorunt is tucked carefully into her sash and ties together the bow in a pretty manner, as a reminder of her more naive youth and juvenile state and a reminder of how her imagination of being able to fly has become a fully realized dream upon evolution into a floating form. Powder Snow | Leer | Double Team | Bite | Icy Wind | Headbutt | Protect | Ice Fang The victim of abuse, Meganium was given to Landon out of anger and spite by a Shiny Hunting-crazed maniac who bred him for the sole purpose of finding a shiny and beat him fiercely for not being a special, alternatively colored rarity. After healing from his numerous injuries, it still took a while for the then Chikorita to learn to trust another human trainer but eventually through the efforts of his teammates he came to know and love Landon and appreciate what a sincerely good person he is. Meganium has proved to be a skilled Pokemon with a wide and versatile moveset and is also a great mode of transportation for Landon and his team. He is kind and gentle and though still shy around many humans, he is incredibly loyal to his friends, Landon and Lombre and Froslass. He is also a defender of the weaker, justice-shall-be-served type due to his troubled and unfair past of neglect and abusive torture so he often runs ahead, without thinking, to help out others, often with little or no concerns about his own wellbeing and safety. Name: Jasper Vincent Age: 17 Gender: Male Personality: Jasper is a hard working, dedicated, and talented trainer- and he will never let you forget it. He can be bossy towards others because of a false sense of superiority, as he passed pokemon trainer school with a very high GPA (a prestigious school in Hoenn to be exact). He is not too good at being friendly and instead relies on others to break the ice when meeting. Although he seems completely undesirable, he is a force to be reckoned with and that makes him a great ally. Jasper isn't very sure how to make friends and easily gets uncomfortable in touchy-feely situations. History: Being a trainer-in-training in Floaroma was hard. Everyone was so laid back and obsessed with beauty and grace, contests were more popular. He could never find a decent battle to watch in his town, and thus desired nothing more than to move out of Sinnoh and into Hoenn where he could attend a trainer's school, as he realized he must leave his home behind if he ever wants to become a strong trainer. He eventually graduated from Trainer's school and then traveled to Littleroot to receive his starter pokemon, an Illumise he named Ilana. He eventually decided to try a pokemon contest and instantly fell in love, as he realized why they were so popular. He appreciated that the battles were tough because they weren't just about brute strength. He rose to fame for his success in pokemon contests, especially for his use of less popular pokemon and making them shine brightly.

Mdf- Your pokemon seem to have moves that are past the level limit. I don't so much mind the evolution though. Besides that, I can accept^^
Clef- Looks good^^ accepted <3
I'm surprised people kept their original parties

I couldn't choose what pokemon to use and I wanted to keep jasper, so it would be mean to release his starter. I was gonna replace kricketune and bibarel but I didn't know if we could change our hoenn charcters pokemon with other characters pokemon

You can keep your Hoenn character and use any* pokemon from any past region rp. So you could keep Jasper and use 3 pokemon from Kanto or wherever.
You don't have to release your Hoenn starter you just...can't use it if it wasn't a top 3 choice (out of fairness)

Not trying to argue with you Manta and I'll fix it if you want but I though that the Pokemon were about level 30ish (not exactly though) and since moves in this RP, similar to Heresy, can be learned whenever consecutively, shouldn't it not matter especially if the moves in question are just a few levels over the approximate cutoff? I'll go edit if you wish but I didn't realize it would be a problem, sorry~

There were those but mainly lombre that had high level moves like energy ball which I believe is learned in the 50s

Post by mdf2711 on Jun 10, 2014 5:17:46 GMT
Oh sorry about that, were those maybe the ones from Lotad that Lombre do not learn? I thought it would be okay in that case but I guess I was wrong. Just to clarify though, if those are not learned by evolution time, will Lombre never be able to use them if he never learned them in his prior form?
|
|
|
Post by Mizumanta on Jun 10, 2014 5:39:06 GMT
Lotad and lombre don't learn moves like rain dance and energy ball until much later levels.
The past moves thing was supposed to be remedied by one of the shards. The choice between moves that conflict with evolution is one of the choices that makes pokemon fun.
As long as the pokemon wasn't already evolved, you can choose when you evolved the pokemon to control what moves it learns, but it can't have parallel moves from the same pokemon (like see dot learning explosion but also getting an early nuzleaf move)

Well, giving the pokemon a backstory will make me think a little more, so I'll post my form until tomorrow. But I forgot to ask this before, can we use starters? like Any starter we got from previous RPs? Even if they're shinies? Or are shinies forbbiden? Same question goes for Fossils, probably the answer is no, but I wanted to make sure, so, can we use Fossil pokmon? Sorry if you answered this before but I have a lot of things in my mind these days so I might have forgotten if you answered it before :S
