So I was always a fan of the general RP idea thread on v-dex where we all bounced ideas off of each other and figured I'd bring up the same thing here. It'd be nice to get a variety of ideas and roleplays going on and this'll just be like the big thinking pot for us all. I know I'm a fan of all different types of roleplays and love brainstorming with people to create something new.
Here we can plan future RP's and all that jazz! Let's adjust our thinking caps and get to brainstormin'

I've been kind of sitting on this idea for a while, but how would people feel about an Inception AU? I'm not sure I've got a solid plot in mind yet, but it'd probably just be a heist kind of deal with complications, similar to the film. Think about it. Suits for everyone.

I like inception and think it's an interesting idea but what if we did it more along the lines of placing the same characters in vastly different times/places? That way it could have the same feel as Inception but maybe not revolve around dreams and it could be its own unique thing? Our characters could be in a world of...Pokemon, for instance, one moment and then suddenly be merfolk the next and then be in a maze chased by the Minotaur and then in the Ming dynasty etc etc. Some of us would retain our memories and some of us wouldn't and it could switch randomly each time (like in the first "world" you could remember nothing, in the second everything, then only bits and pieces, then only feelings, then mostly everything, then one single memory, and so on and so forth). And it would up to everyone to try and stick together or split off or whatever and try to do...something. I guess it needs a solid plot (like a reason for the world skipping and probably a way to stop it/villain/something of that sort) because it's pretty PWP right now but your thought inspired mine Wyndi as well as I was thinking of dracoon and mizumanta and even I used to utilize the same characters again and again in RPs, recycled and re-purposed to fit the world they find themselves in (and of course you too, Wyndi dear, but you have so many we've probably all only ever seen half of them if that so it's not too noticeable).

haha I like that idea, but it might as well not be Inception-based at that point; that's a whole new concept entirely. I personally just wanted to do Inception so we could fiddle around in our characters' mindscapes and do something Darker and Edgier.
I guess some explanation for the world-switching might be the usual "the borders between parallel worlds/universes are blurring"/"the fabric of the world is coming apart"? A natural degeneration as the universe comes to an end? I feel the memories thing might be harder to explain, though.
re: so many ocs, so many - hahahahaaaaaa guilty as charged....

I am definitely interested in both ideas. Inception seems great (suits for everyone? I'm sooo in)and so does the chance for me to actually try using the same character in more than one situation, since I usually just make a new character for each RP.

I had this rather vague idea of a roleplay where there is a society in which teenagers are given a tattoo at a certain age that grants them a magical ability when they give their blood to it. i.e. teleportation tattoo on inner wrist, they slit their hand and touch the tattoo to teleport.
I'm not sure exactly and I am not really up for joining another roleplay but if anyone likes this idea and wants to do something with it that's cool.

I am definitely up for an Inception type roleplay! Mdf's idea is very neat, too. The tattoo rp could be neat, too omg. There could definitely be some potential there for expanding & making a neat universe with these tattoos. Like are they latent powers that are in the person that are released when the tattoo ink comes in contact with their blood (upon application), or is it a special ink or special sigils that grant the user certain powers? Basically a lot of world-building stuff is what I'm thinking of.

I'd be interested in seeing or contributing to more worldbuilding for that as well, but I will say that I don't think any system run off the use of blood (presumably fresh, presumably from a certain person) and self-injury is usually sustainable.

The tattoo RP sounds neat! The worldbuilding could be great indeed. As for the blood matter, we could do something to round things off, such as the tattoos needing more or less blood to be activated depending on the power. That should balance things and keep a nice limit to how much a person can use their powers.
If we are doing anything that involves powers (this includes the X-men RP if the owner is interested in this idea), I'd really like to see some more situational, morality-involving RP's. As in, how the people with powers would react in a less controlled environment: take advantage of their powers, or actually use them for greater good and stuff, according to the situation, and even the different means they would take towards the same end (such as arresting villains, or killing them off, for example).

Funny you should mention that, because the X-Men universe does do a good job covering the spectrum of mutant morality, so to speak. You have people like Professor X, who advocate for human-mutant equality and fight against "evil" mutants, then people like Wolverine, who kind of don't really care either way but will work to further their personal goals, and then people like Magneto, who believe that mutants are superior to humans by virtue of their being mutants. And then there was that one arc in the films where obviously not all mutants actually want their powers, and while it's all good to say mutants shouldn't change themselves for anyone else, you can't force anyone to keep their powers if they don't want to.
I guess what I'm saying is that since the X-Men universe already leans towards that shades-of-grey morality mentality, if we end up working towards a bigger plot, we'll hit that vein eventally.
re: the blood tattoo thing - One of my major concerns was when this tattoo historically pops up. Has this tattoo always been a rite of passage, so to speak? Or is it a development of recent technology? Because if it's the latter, then I can't imagine society/technology progressing very far due to the inevitable personal and global conflicts that would arise. Plus no doubt those with more destructive powers would be persecuted or imprisoned. Also - mini and I were actually discussing this last night - if the tattoos have been with humanity since the beginning of time, then women would probably traditionally be regarded as more "sacred"/"important" than men because of, um, their monthly cycles. I know, gross to think about for some of you, but it's important to think about how something like this tattoo would affect the development of various cultures.

The tattoos are like dark magic sort of. The blood has to be fresh so it can't be from a vial. The bigger the wound it came from, the stronger the power gets. It has to be your blood.
It would either be a distopian society in the future or somewhere in the past like maybe during the Salem witch trials in America. Idk
EDIT: OH MY GOD NOBODY EVER POINTED OUT MY REALLY OFFENSIVE TYPO I'M SO SORRY OH GOD.

@x-men True that - I might join the X-men RP later on, too, if I get the inspiration...I've been thinking about it ever since I joined, TBH
@blood tattoo thing It doesn't necessarily to be either. It could be a new event, something sudden that nobody can explain at first - then, of course, people will want to know. They'll start to investigate and research, maybe even leading to kidnapping people with the tattoos and stuff. Something like, they're not really "tattoos" in the traditional sense of the word, just markings that appear on people. And of course, people wouldn't know they actually unlock powers through the person's blood until someone accidentally spills blood on it or something...IDK, just throwing ideas around. They could also have an specific location, removing the idea of people having tattoos in...inadequate places and avoid accidents with monthly cycles.

I've had this idea for a while though, but I don't know if anyone would be interested but here it is: A Black Bullet(if you haven't watched that its literally SNK with less human-like creatures as the monsters and its all in the future) freeplay where the threatening Gastrea has been wiped out and its like regular life with your initiator and stuff

My original idea was for it to be a strange rune on their body and it describes a power. These powers are derived from some black magic voodoo demon crap, idk, and depending on the type of wound and the amount of blood their power's strength fluctuates. Let's use teleporting as an example again: If you prick your finger and give it a drop, you'd teleport a foot or two away. Slit your hand/wrist and you can teleport in your line of sight If someone inflicts a wound on you (that draws more blood than the previous two), the power increases and you can go anywhere you've ever been. If you are inflicted with a wound that could possibly end up with you dying, your power allows you to tear holes in space and travel anywhere you want, and even mess with the space/time continuum and move through time.
It all depends on the blood you give it and how it ended up coming out of your body. The backstory would be something like they originally started to show devotion to their gods, and the gods/demons decided to bestow a power to the runes that represent them. The people who are devoted and get the demonic marks can use the powers with their own blood sacrifice. I'm not entirely sure yet but I like to do worldbuilding.

Hm...if we're looking for a good starting plot point, then maybe someone has killed themself in order to mess with the time-space continuum, whether for better or for worse. I mean, given the number of people in human history, it's statistically likely that at least a certain percentage of people would have done things like that.
